  1. It never ends. Pit Bulls, Dobermans and German Shepherds all need training as well as an owner(s) who can control the dog. I've been threatened by everyone of those breeds in the owners home (all in the US) after the owner assured me that their dog was just super friendly and wouldn't hurt a fly. Show weakness and you've got a problem. You never put yourself in a submissive posture with any of those dogs. I don't deal with them any more. Just don't put yourself in the position to be attacked. Most of us can show enough dominance to these dogs to make them back off. Who do they prey on? Anyone showing weakness: elderly, young, disabled. Look at who got attacked here? Surprised? I've been attacked by soi dogs here in Thailand. I've made everyone of them back off. I've known too many people who have these breeds of dogs. "Oh Killer, Fang, and Shredder are just super friendly and wouldn't hurt a fly." That's all BS. These people have no control over their animals. What's worse? Is their a civil court in Thailand (with a jury) who would award damages for a dog attack? In the US there is. Thailand. "Oh, Killer bite you? Here's 3,000 THB. <Wai> Everything is all good now, mai?" No, there isn't a court system that will administer significant damages.. (Look at Vorayuth Yoovidhya 'compensation for killing a police officer. What an elitist joke). When Fang bites, Shredder shreds, and Killer kills - a few thousand THB is suppose to paper over an lifetime of damage. However, if you're a foreigner and you inadvertently touch a Thai HiSo woman? They need hundreds of thousands or millions in compensation. Bottom line: Don't put yourself or your kids or your grandparents in harms way. "How would you know Mr. Smarty Pant "Expert." I've got eight dogs. A couple of them are dangerous, which is why we have them. A couple more I don't trust with anyone inside the fence unless my wife or I am around. But they are fenced and they are territorial. We have a series of fences. Just don't be in the wrong fence uninvited. We are VERY upfront with people about that. The outside perimeter is always locked. We are REALLY upfront with people about that. If we let you in - don't wander. There is no - "Ohhhhh Skippy is just a sweetheart and wouldn't hurt a fly." Nope - Skippy and her partner will do damage. Don't wander! Don't have dogs you can not control, especially those breeds. And don't be ignorant. And if your dog attacks anyone who was invited on to your property? Control your dogs and take responsibility if things go south.
  2. I hate to be Captain Obvious here, but had Griner come to Thailand last year with hash oil vape cartridges in her possession (as well as a lot of other countries who have even stricter drug laws), she may have met a fate worse than a few year of hard labor. As a matter of fact, can you fly into Dulles Air Port in Washington DC carrying hash oil vape cartridges like it's nothing? I don't have any sympathy for anyone carrying drugs across international borders who get caught <period>. It would have seem to me that Bout should have been swapped for some US citizens sitting in a Russian prison on spy charges. This is sort of an insane world nowadays.
  3. I transported a dog to the vet recently and it peed on the fabric/cloth back seat of the car. I didn't catch it at first as I had the seat covered with a 'cloth' cover that is suppose to protect the seat. That didn't work well at all. So, I'm looking for someone who has experience is cleaning cloth seats. I talked to one detalier in CM but he insisted he needed to keep the car overnight to "remove the seats and allow them to dry in the sun light." They sounds like overkill to me. It would seem that the seats need to be sprayed with a solution that will counter the urine smell and they sucked back up with a powerful wet/dry canister vac. I'm looking for a referral for someone who has had the inside of their car detailed before and who can recommend a detailer who can do the work in a couple of hours. The seats can dry naturally when I take it home, ie, opens the doors and leave it in the sun to dry.
  4. Best of luck. Thoughts and prayers for your sister.
  5. Rinse the drain liberally after peeing in the shower.
  6. I've worked shift work myself and going to a bar that opened at 6am to have a few beer before heading home to bed wasn't uncommon. Some people live very sheltered lives I see.
  7. Honestly, it's none of your business. Feeling "Holier Than Thou" today? Must be. My suggestion. Worry about your own behavior. If the guy wants beer for breakfast it's up to him.
  8. Here's my take. I keep one in my pocket. If asked to wear one, I smile and comply. Easy breezy. Play along to get along. However, I find that most places I now shop at don't have any 'heavies' at the door insisting on compliance. That goes for Big-C and Makro. The banks? Depends on the bank. My last trip to BKK Bank I wore one until I came across a maskless gal at one of the front desks. So mine came off. My SCB branch has always been overly cautious imho. I'll wear it around my neck. If asked, I put it on; if not, I don't. I don't see any reason to push it, but my philosophy is that eventually someone has to break the inbred fear response. I'm not afraid of Covid any more than any other of the upper respiratory diseases we used to simply call "a cold" or "the flu." And BTW, the only masks that actually work are P-100 or sealed air recyclers. My favorite are the "high so" plastic face shields that at moth or fly can fly though. Yeah - that's gonna stop a virus <laughs>.
  9. SIN City? Way cool. Didya have fun?
  10. And who is to say this isn't completely staged by the 'anti-cannabis' cartel.
  11. Methamphetamine is a much more dangerous issue. Also, given that Thai press will censor either a joint or a cigarette - what is the kid really smoking? Or perhaps he is smoking Meth?
  12. Between now and the end of the Thai statutes of limitations, many Thais will be actively prosecuted - just not Vorayuth Yoovidhya who will have the red-carpet rolled out for him then day the the Thai statutes of limitations ends.
  13. I know. I've been doing that since my wife went through menopause. "Psst! He's talking about phones connda!" Dohhh! Oh! Yes. Of course. Custom ROM ('read only memory, NOT Romance Outside of Marriage, or Raunchy On Manual). While we are on the subject, any suggestions for well-known links regarding diddling your Smartphone in a ROM sort of way. <wink wink> Now that I've picked a phone I have a target to read about.
  14. For a phone that is about $100. Why would I care about a warranty. I've spent that much money in a couple of hours on Loi Kroh. Never got a warranty for those services. ???? Anyway, I found a Samsung A04S that I think will fit the bill. Under $100 or slightly over $100 if I get the 64GB upgrade. Now me being totally ignorant of these thing, I don't know if this is "locked" with a specific carrier or "unlocked." If it's "locked", I've no problems taking the steps to "unlock" it for my own SIM card carrier. I think mine is True, but the wife does all the smartphone carrier stuff based on whatever discounts she can get. If it's locked to a contractual carrier - pfft - then I'll need to know how to root it asap. For those who know, it this about 'unlocking the boot-loader' or is that something different? Yes, I am ignorant and no it's not a problem. It just means I need to learn. Anyway, my Thai was not good enough for the sales person in the Lamphun store where I saw the phone. I'll have to drag the wife along to do translation. With the memory upgrade to 64 GB it's about $105 USD at today's exchange rate. If I brick it? C'est la vie. Hopefully it's unlocked. From the reading I was doing it seems the phone sellers in the USA are the one's who are "locking crazy." I got my first dumbphone in the US in the early 2000s. I was always dismayed at why I couldn't just buy the phone at any store. Nope. You needed to buy it at the carrier's special store with their special contracts, and wait in special long line because they never had sufficient floor help, blah blah blah. What do I want? Just to slap the SIM into the new phone, get rid of as much bloatware and spyware as possible, and put the few apps I actually use on the phone. Or even better, flash it with a ROM that is a bloat-free as possible. So it looks like I found the phone. From here I gonna need suggestion and links on how to set it up to function the way I want it to. Actualy now that I'm reading specs, it seems the A04 run on a "special" OS version of Andriod - Android 12, One UI Core 4. Man, I detest "Special." So my first task now is to figure out how to flash the phone with a non-"Special" ROM. Any suggestions are welcome. I just want a light-weight, bloat-free OS as possible. Just just poked around in the internet and there seems to be a bunch of Custom ROMs for the A04. If anyway has a suggestion for a special ROM, let me know. This is sorta like picking a version of Linux. Due to the phone being rather underpowered, a good light-weigh Custom ROM may be the best approach. Something known and used by others as getting rid of bloat and spyware is a primary goal imho.
  15. Finishing up Richard K Morgan's "Woken Furies" with The Screwtape Letters next in line.
  16. Here's my take (because it will happen, it's just a matter of time, at least for those of us who look back beyond a single life-time and can grasp the cyclical nature of, well, Nature.) Do an internet search on Carrington Event and Coronal Mass Ejections. That will end CBDC as well as a large proportion of mankind who have lost their agrarian roots and who believe the world will end if "green" electric infrastructure is not fully embraced for everything. One good ***POP*** and it all stops and pretty much ends for generations to come as the world is tossed back into the dark ages (literally). Oh, and those non-GMO heirloom seeds? They'll be a currency within themselves. Personally, the way things are going at present? I think an X-30+, Earth-facing CME is just about the only thing that will 'save the Earth' from the present crop of greed-driven psychopaths who's vision for this world is serfdom for the majority of the commoners, ownership of everything that can be assigned a value by the Blackrocks and WEF crowds (and everything will be assigned a value down to the lowliest grains of sand), and of course euthanasia for the elderly, deformed, and otherwise unproductive CO2 producers. "A Carrington Event would be better," you ask. I think so. It will be The Great Leveler as opposed to The Great Reset. We go back to a past that was difficult and yet still maintained a sense of honor and independence. Yeah, it will be Mad Max to a degree. But it kicks the struts from underneath those who seek a 1000 year reign of technocratic globalism with themselves set at the top of the pyramid as literal gods of the earth. I'd rather deal with regional warlords.
  17. And by the way, some of these displays of "Money Trees are rather fantastic. Here at Wat Ban Den in Northern Thailand they need cranes to erect their Money Trees. Yep - QR Codes and CBDC aren't replacing that unless the plan is for the government, NGOs, and other organizations to simply destroy society, which by the way seems to be The World Economic Forum stated goal for all of the commoners. Of course the destruction of religion seems to go hand in hand with their plans.
  18. So what is my point here? Cash money is inexorably linked to the Thai Buddhist culture. I hate to be Captain Obvious here, but a QR-CODE on a stick isn't going to cut it. Forcefully take cash away from Thailand and it will usher in a social upheaval of government, banking, religious and other institutions.
  19. Btw, here is one overlooked aspect of Thai Buddhist society: papow (I may have the word wrong) and gratin. These are annual events that are widely attended by most Thai villagers and even metropolitan and cosmopolitan Thais. Gratin happens after the annual Rain Retreats. And it is a major festival for each individual temple and a time where the temple generates a majority of their yearly operating income In villages it's a form of given with the expectation that the giver will receive a karmatic reward greater than the sum given. For the metropolitan and cosmopolitan crowds it an opportunity to display status by displaying wealth through giving. Below are some examples of the giving at our own small village temple (about 250 people in our village) Money Trees Are An Iconic Feature Of Buddhist Giving (Dana) and I must admit that the creative artistic nature is very beautiful as well as the really joyful ceremonies. Our small temple generated over 300,000 THB on this one day. There was also a 'papow' organized by my wife and some of her friends before the Gratin ceremony that took in another 10,000+ THB. There are well over 40,000 Buddhist temples in Thailand and they all celebrate these "Dana" ceremonies. Money is given like this all of the time especially during the Rain Retreats, after the Rain Retreats, during all Buddhist holidays, often on the date of the passing away of a relative (we do this annually for my wife's son and my own daughter who both passed away as children -- it's considered a way of passing on good karma to the deceased), and just at any given time when a Thai person or family feels the need to show generosity.
  20. Just keep taking all of the mRNA boosters as soon as they are available. CDC states to take the bivalent booster 2 months after an initial series which everyone had last year. It looks like Moderna is recommending a booster every 5 months due to rapidly waning efficacy. So to stay safe it looks like you'll need those mRNA boosters every 5 to 6 months as those shots may not keep you from contracting Covid (the CDC director Rochelle P. Walensky is fully vaccinated and boosted but has contracted Covid twice), but the shots are proven to keep you from dying in the hospital like the unvaccinated who end up expiring on a ventilator in huge numbers as is well known as well as infecting large numbers of people unlike the vaccinated.. So if you can't afford the expensive antivirals, then save up for the mRNA boosters. Perhaps Thailand will keep providing them for free although Forbes says that Pfizer shots may increase to $110 to $130 per shot next year. A small price to pay to stay safe when their antivirals are out of your price range. So keep getting those boosters every 5 or 6 months to stay safe is does seem. Listen to the experts in the CDC and the WHO who have nothing but the best interests of humanity in their hearts. Better than dying on a ventilator which will happen to most of those dirty unvaccinated superspreaders. Safe and effective - keep those mRNA shots up to date.
  21. Judical killing. Judge, jury, and executioner all rolled up in one team. That's ok. In the US the cops would just say he made a scary erratic movement. That enough to get you shot and you'd be cleared in no time at all.
  22. 2 million THB capitalization and a Business Visa - and not performing a business that is not allowed for foreigners - like agriculture. Learn to code.
  23. I'm not particularly anti-debit or anti-credit card. CBDCs though? I never want to see that implemented. Shake hands with Mr. Totalitarianism as average citizens will be borderline serfs in the land of "You'll own nothing, and the WEF will be happy." I'll push back on that every opportunity I have. And regarding 'something anyone voted for.' What the hell was Klause Schwab doing at the G-20 meeting with what seemed to be full diplomatic honors and entitlements? Who voted him in as a G-20 leader? But then again. He's not the only one. Ursula von der Leyen - unelected by the EU citizens. Richie (Rich) Sunak - unelected by the UK citizens. I wonder how many of the current crop of Western leaders ARE actually elected (as opposed to appointed or simply assigned by the wealthiest and most powerful), as well as how many are full WEF YGL protegees who have massive electoral funding by the WEF and its backers. Western countries are no longer actual 'democracies' with 'democratically elected 'leaders.' Any actually believing that pablum is a fool. Most Western governments now seem to be kleptocracies, plutocracies, or a bastardization of their own self-ascribed "public-private partnerships" which is basically the definition of Fascism. Elections are essentially purchase by the highest bidder. That's pretty da*m sad imho. It's all Kubuki Theater. And all of these "leaders" are pro-CBDC as well as pro-Neo-Feudalism. "You'll own nothing and you'll pretend to be happy, or else we turn off your CBDC access to everything. So pucker up and smile plebs."
  24. Like usual, one more time at Makro today. Wife and I had to stand behind a couple who had already been rung up, but were in the process of paying. And it happened again. They have to fiddle with their phones, dink around with the application, couldn't get it to work, and opted for a credit card which had to be run through at the front desk, and the receipt brought over to be signed. We sat for about 5 minutes just for these people to do nothing but pay. We had two full carts of food. The cashier totaled it, Maybe two minutes. After which I counted out the money, and received my change and receipt in all of about 20 seconds. We don't hold others up with these stupid "cashless" transaction. I detest the technology. Of course banks and Big Corp love it as they can track every single purchase you made, and then consolidate as your data for marketing as well as selling what should otherwise be private information to the whoever is willing to purchase the data. That's why "cashless" is being pushed. After my transaction Marko may have marketing data on us based on our Marko Card account (wife's account). But that's probably about as far as it goes. My wife is the fool who wants to have accounts with these stores (especially Big C) in order to get discounts. What she fails to realize is that those 'discounts' are the price of the company using what should be her private transaction data. So no. Cashless isn't "convenient." It's a PITA and destroys your privacy, and it will eventually lead to governments, banks, and corporations being able to control your behavior so that you remain a good, quiet, compliant commoner. Not that I'm not a good, quiet commoner. Compliant? Not so much but I keep it pretty much to myself. I prefer my privacy.
