  1. Somchai, Somboon, Sombat, Somporn, Sompong, Somsak, Siriporn, Sirikiat......That should cover more than 1/2 of the Thai names, which is about right. The way that the government is running this country, I can see how more than 1/2 of its population want to get them out...

Or can it be "S"hinawatra is plotting the oust of this government so he, himself, can come back to govern...the plot thickens...

Maybe it's just "S"om-nan-na for PT's bad governance that they are afraid its own ghost coming back to haunt them....

Anyway, you can alway blame on "S"omtamsmile.png

  2. Not the color "thing" again....

One more color now that I have to leave out of my wardrobe. No yellow, no red and now, no white..When are they going to use other symbolism instead of color scheme? I might also need to tell GF to stop applying so much white powder on her face...Doesn't it get old? Can we all just make up like adults or just got to keep on this childish act? Are we really setting good example for our kids to follow? Are we teaching our kids to never forgive until we get even? Is this what Thailand politic all about?

    Grow up!

  3. As reluctant guests in this country,I was wondering if any Farang that

posts criticisms of the Government,PM, Mr.T, which I have done myself,

have any fear of repercussions,or just hope that anyone in power does

    not come on to ThaiVisa.

    Regards Worgeordie

And how about the Thais who hold different views than the current government? Will they be spared or will they have more to lose than us "guests"?

PT has been trumping "democracy restoration" in establishing themselves into governing this country. Airing one's opinion on a forum to exchange viewpoints is just one of the basic elements in "democracy". If any guest might receive the "bad treatment" as you suspected, do you think the domestic & international communities will condone this apparent "hypocrisy"? Everyone will then laugh and realize that this government is actually trumping "HYPMOCRACY".

PT is too smart for this....therefore, censorship, censorship, and more censorship. They would shut down TV (Thaivisa) or other communication venues, threaten law suits, and hope all this will go away. They definitely do not wish to spin this out onto the international media....if they happen to mess with the wrong foreigner with the media channel to spin this...

  4. First of all, you need to define what is your meaning of living well? 10,000 baht per month? 100,000 baht per month? 1,000,000 baht per month? or even more?

Secondly, what is your investment philosophy? Dividend oriented? Long term versus day trade? And, how much capital have you set aside for this venture? If you want to make 1 mil, it's probably a lot easier to achieve this with a capital of 100 mil than just 1 mil right?

SET has made many rich people and poor people out of it. There are also so many other markets to trade via internet these days. You should start by setting a realistic ROI, beware of your surrounding daily events to formulate your own thinking and strategy, then do your crap shoot and hopefully it will go as your plan. However, patience is a vital key and a good virtue to have plus a sound exit strategy when things don't go your way (stop-loss and position sizing)?

And by the way, you don't need a work visa for stock trading, just a brokerage account. The brokerage house will ask you for all the paperwork that you need to legally trade in this country.

  5. Quote:

4Q12 earnings summary. THAI reported a 2012 net profit of Bt6.2bn, beating our and
market estimates by 35% mainly on 3 extra items, 1) the reversion of a dispute
of Bt167mn, 2) a penalty gain from delayed aircraft delivery of Bt649mn and 3) Gains
    on assets transferred as consideration
in the Nok Air transaction of
Bt1.58bn, as THAI acquired more Nok Air shares (from 39% to 49%) last year with
the fair value being higher than the cost. When excluding these extra items and
F/X gains of Bt3.2bn, the THAI norm profit was only Bt615mn
    .
    With total revenue
increasing by 9% YoY, higher than operational expenses, increasing 4% YoY, high
interest expenses of Bt5.8bn (+3% YoY) and other net expenses of Bt2bn, were still
key pressures in 2012. In 4Q12, staff expenses increased almost Bt2bn from
3Q12, resulting in an operational loss of Bt758mn, despite the high travel
    season.

So let's not get ahead of ourselves. The actual profit from core operation was only 615 million, and rest from extra items. I think ROE is less than 9% and ROA less than 2%. With these figures, it's still not an attractive stock, given its volatility, even with rosy days ahead. But then again, it's my 2 cents.

  6. If you are on the net seeking investment advice or confirmation...... you are better off park your money somewhere else that you know exactly what the return is or the risk-reward payout (fool and money are soon to part....) my only advice to you is to do your own due diligence and not to trust other people....

  7. Bangkok already has one. We want one up north mad.gif

    I'll Second that!

not me, i want one in phuket first, but not near my house

If IKEA does open in Phuket, you'd wish it's near your house. IKEA store will likely bring up land prices around its area. You can then sell your house, and with the windfall, build two new houses (one for living and one for rent) and furnish them both with IKEA products!

  8. Bangkok already has one. We want one up north mad.gif

Yeah! Show 'em the money then! You know IKEA is not going to open their branch for your convenience. They only go by their research where many guidelines needed to be met, consumer spending, population, average household income, etc. It might eventually open there in Chiangmai but "show them the money" or spending will still be the issue.

  9. How about abolishing the first car discount act, to discourage people buying cars.

And just because public transportation would be boosted doesn't solve Bankokian's desire for cars.

The first car policy is just going to encourage people to buy more cars to make Bangkok the parking paradise of the future...

The first car policy makes traffic jams worth, as well as the "construction of new roads" which doesn't solve any traffic problems in the first place, got it?

    Completely agree!

If you think the traffic is getting worse, get ready for next year when many of the cars under the first discount car tax roll out. This government is using taxpayers' money to appease the Japanese car manufacturers for its flood fiasco last year by boosting their car sales. The money should've been used wisely to improve people's living quality and standard and not vice versa. on top of it, the Thai officials had a gripe about foreign media rated Bangkok with the worst trafficin the world. Look at its policy then...

Time to leave BKK and its traffic behind!

  10. This government again showed its ignorant about economic system. You don't just raise salary to improve standard of living. You have to addvalue to the workforce before increasing their salary. If the workforce is thesame why should anyone give them more money? May be instead of trying to makepeople happy with empty promises, educate them to become more valuable andmarket will take care of the rest

Now they have to deal with unemployment

    Hmmm.. let's see.

Raise the minimum wages (campaign promise) = more votes!

Raise the minimum wages = private sectors foot the bill!

Educate the workforce = government foot the bill.

With this government and its buffoons do you think they really care if this translates into unemployment?? That's the problem of tomorrow, as long as they are sabai sabai today!
