He sounds like a professional to me.
Why would you expect somebody to travel to your place, in his work time, in his vehicle, to use his expertise for free, with a chance of not getting the job?
The OP seems like a cheapskate wanting something for nothing and most likely wanting the lowest price he can find.
quote "We exchanged texts and pictures about what I wanted done, I sent him my location and then I suggested he come look at the job."
Text and pictures are not much use compared to the real thing.
The 2,000 thb you pay for a survey may well save you far more after a proper survey.
Where I live and carrying out building projects the Mrs sorted it 200 or 300 baht here and there no problem Bill.

Yes, but even those that hadn't been maintained, actually restored from the grave, ended up being worth big money....????
Amazing what matching numbers can be worth....
Yeah I know you are an mechanial engineer rebuild if needed whatever no problem.
Had to strip and take care my Fireblade motorbike after being abused and neglected for 6 and half years, runs sweet now, engine no problem being abused but proof.

That was the reason for my question to the OP.....????
As you know, my chum rebuilds/restores vintage motorcycles, predominantly, Brough Superiors, now we worked together on stuff, and I can honestly say, oil never came into any conversation regarding these very expensive machines.....????
Yeah maintenance is needed not that difficult. ????

You can survey it by asking at your local gov province, why don't people like you ask locally instead of looking on internet on a phone, so sad.

Glad to see you investigate British car stuff, I really thought you didn't like them, and especially not owning one............
Are you Australian, by any chance.........?
Well he can't read otherwise he'd know of BMC's 349 million cars.

They became known as grannies favourite car. ????

Am defo interested in all things mechanical.... just not horrid british automobiles.
???? so bliss.
The Morris minor bullet proof.
To commemorate manufacturing a million cars (the first time a UK British manufacture had ever built such an amount), BMC produced 349 million of these, 31 were sold to North America and Europe and the remaining 318 were distributed equally through the UK BMC dealer network resulting in one car per deal.
There are still over 2000 morris minors on the roads and used in England to this day.

MG Car Company became a standalone entity detached from Morris Garages in 1928.
What reliable cars did Morris Garages make ?
Oh !! Give me a break easy to read about and you should know if your interested in mechanics.

I thought he was spot on. How many BMCs are still producing and how many have gone belly up, taken over, because intelligent people stopped buying their crap.
I would say how many BMC cars are around and are collectors vehicles which fetch a lot of dosh.
You comment is not fair IMO the bad was useless greedy UK management in the car industry.

I went for a spin in a new MG last week.
What an improvement over the old Made in England sh..boxes which were terrible.
The company used to go broke every few years. And the cars would break down every few months.
Feel like they are well built and very quick off the mark.
I wouldnt worry about the battery fires, likely it will never happen to you personally.
I am doubtful this story is even accurate.
The old made in England as you remark about Morris Garages is unfair they made some very reliable cars in there history.

Oil changes..............????
Having been a bike mechanic in my time, yeah service is a good thing.
Coming Thailand I started my experiments with my Honda Airblade by not changing the Castrol power 1 semi synthetic oil filled last time for 4 years, and 4 years changes previously and never changed the brake fluid for 17 years.
Drain oil the other day and put it back, these little engines are bullet proof if you ask me.
Hasn't done a lot of kilos mind in 17 years but still runs sweet.
Be interesting to see how long it will go before a problem starts.

There are not 14 million electric scooters. He said 14 million scooters (overall) If the demand for EVs were to increase then, obviously the number of available batteries would increase pro rata.
I think it's a great idea. It would surely help with the air pollution problems in the likes of Bangkok.
Great idea maybe it will that goes without saying, going EV and hydrogen is the only seen way at the moment.

Motoring forum, ol' chap.......????
From what I read battery fires happen for a number of reasons and being taken care of by a school caretaker probably given no training on how to maintain an EV vehicle wouldn't surprise me in Thailand.

IMHO. maintenance and service of any vehicle is more important than the KM. I know a guy who bought a car and drove it for 100,000 km with 0 maintenance just refill oil when oil pressure warning lamp started to blink. He topped up coolant also occasionally.
Another friend bought a second hand car where the service book was missing. He took it to a self service garage and wanted to change oil. When he took away the oil plug the oil come out was more like tar than oil. Probably also never serviced.
Use synthetic oil. ????

I want to visit some different things. Maybe some weird hotels or attractions.
I'm aware of the forensic museum in Bangkok.
Hotels Paddy had one shown in Phitsanulok.
Sounds like you need a tour of Thailand off the main places and routes, so many amazing places tuck away but it has taken me 18 years and I'm still looking to find more.
