The changed to 45 days from 30 days to include the 15 days of quarantine a few months ago.
I'm assuming once quarantine is no longer required the Thai government will revert back to just 30 days?

No
Only a single entry tourist visa is being issued. And the special tourist visa (STV) but it is not a very popular option due to ridiculous requirements for it.
A good option at this time is entering visa exempt that allows a 45 day entry at this time that can be extended for 30 days.
Usually there is a visa exempt for only 30 days. Did they just recently increase it to 45 days?

No to Cambodia.
Might try Laos.
Third option would be Vietnam. It's a vast country and very different regions.

No, you can just leave.
In my case, I turned in my work permit and left on my one year visa based on work. Never had a problem re-entering the Kingdom in the years since.

Sorry, but the the Vietnam War that the Americans were involved in was a civil war between the south and the north. No one from Vietnam on any side was trying to come to the US and take your voting rights away.

Yes, the shooter's family immigrated from Syria when he was three years old. The shooter, identified as Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, grew up in the US but does have a history of mental issues. Somehow, he still managed to purchase a firearm, a Ruger AR 556 on 16 March 2021, only a week before he committed this terrible act.
There was an assault weapon ban passed in 1994 when Clinton, a democrat, was President. In 2004 the ban expired and Bush jr, a Republican, chose not to renew it.

Both the Highlander and the RAV4 come in gas and gas/hybrid models in the US. They get very good reviews. The hybrid models are very popular.

What do your 17 & 15 year old think of your extended stays in Asia? Do they ever ask you, "Gee Dad, what did you do that whole time you were gone?" They are probably a lot smarter than you give them credit for.
If you do go down that road of dumping your family keep in mind that you will probably get run through the wringer of Canadian divorce courts. Paying your wife alimony for quite a long time and also your kids university education as well will have a serious drain on your financial situation.
You've had your little Asian fling, mid-life crisis, or what ever else you want to call it. Now, just get on with your regular life. Perhaps some anti-depressant medication might help. See your Dr.

Wherever you decide to move to will this be a permanent move or just while your kids go to school? It may be difficult to sell your property if just going to be there for a few years.

Oh darn! I was so hoping to visit North Korea and spend a week at their glorious beach resorts this June but they weren't on the list.

Phase 3 - from 1 Oct - the government is aiming to allow vaccinated tourists from low risk countries to enter Thailand without the need to quarantine. However, this will depend on the COVID-19 situation in Thailand and whether or not sufficient numbers of medical workers in the country have received the vaccination.
I wonder if the US will qualify as one of those "low risk" countries? If not, they will lose a lot of tourist dollars.

I can buy Beer Lao, Singh, Chang, and Leo in the US at Asian grocery stores for the equivalent of 50 baht a bottle and that's including tax.

30,000 baht a month? I'm assuming this is upcountry somewhere. No way would you want that type of salary in Bangkok even if it included housing. I'd be looking at a new school now if the one you are at won't bump your salary up to 40,000 baht.

So very sorry to hear of your cycling accident. As a fellow cyclist, I hope that you have a fast and successful recovery with a minimum of pain.

It appears that you don't have an income problem just a problem in meeting the monthly requirement. If the money is coming from abroad perhaps it would be best to just transfer enough to meet the 65K each month. Another idea would be just to put the 800K into a bank account and leave it there for the purposes of meeting the immigration requirements. Then transfer the money that you need to live on each month as you usually do but maybe into a different bank account. Yes, I know, who wants to leave 800K sitting in a Thai bank earning almost nothing in interest. Until you sort out a way to meet the monthly income requirements this might just solve the issue.

Yes it's possible, especially if you're OK with teaching in language schools in Bangkok, such as Wall Street, British Council, Westminster, New Cambridge, King's College etc. They tend to be recruiting all the time and their HR departments will assist with the Non-B/Work permit.
As JayClay says above, get your degree legalised by the UK Legalisation office in Milton Keynes, then certified by the Thai Embassy in London, while you're still in the UK.
Good advice to get the documents legalized in London and then certified by the Thai Embassy in London. Make sure you make additional photocopies of these documents as you can never have enough of them.

I like the VT2 pool as it is very big and enough room so as not to feel crowded. Not so sure about the restaurant that is poolside. I have heard that it has been managed by different people over the years and the quality changes quite a bit. Perhaps others might know better.

Anyone know if you will be able to get a 10 year passport at the LA consulate? Or is this something that can only be done in Thailand?

There is a certain group in the USA that would be very proud to wear those shirts.

Personal opinion based on a 7 y/o boy in Thailand compared to my sisters boys in the UK.
1st Choice - A good International School in Thailand
2nd Choice - A Private School in the UK
3rd Choice - Government comprehensive school in the UK
No choice - Thai government school (not an option I’d be happy to be forced into, we’d move back to the UK before that).
My son goes to Bangkok Patana School - I simply can’t fault it, its an incredible school. I see that through every facet of my sons development, I see it in the children of friends who also go there some of whom have now left and are attending UK / US universities.
The school highlighted how good it is during this last year with the organisation and lengths they went to with online learning during the Covid-19 crisis.
In comparison the my nephews attend a good secondary school in the UK, the standards of attention and quality of support during home schooling over same period were by comparison, poor.
My niece on the other hand attends a private school in the UK and the standards she has been afforded are excellent.
IMO - The International schools in Thailand match the private schools in the UK.
The comprehensive school in the UK are not bad, but they are free and a smart child will (can) still excel.
The Thai government schools are very hit and miss, I’d hazard a guess and say on education standards alone a child will receive a better free education in most areas of most western nations.
Bangkok Patana is a very fine school and follows a British curriculum. Definitely the best choice for a British education in Thailand. ISB is probably the best choice for Americans seeking an educational system that closely aligns with their country. I think most would be happy with the education received from both schools for their children. They are not cheap, tuition is quite expensive at both. It helps if your employer is paying!
