I've been to them all in BKK over the years. Best by miles - and a place I only discovered just before the most recent closures - is the Londoner on Phatthanakan Rd. Great beer, great food. Great for families. It's a little expensive but if you can afford it, it's a very enjoyable three or four hours on a Sunday afternoon.
I've been going to the Londoner since it first opened. Have known the owners from long before they ever opened the pub. Sadly, I haven't made it over to the new location on Phatthanakan.
Other favorites of mine are Tawan Daeng. I usually go to the Ram Intra location but have been to others.

It's too bad the Thais don't know that you aren't fully vaccinated until two weeks after your second injection if you have the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

I'm asking this question strictly referring to Thai women for long term relationships/marriage.
For me personally, a Thai woman must possess a few main attributes before I would even think about getting into something serious with her.
they are the following :
1. Must be well educated, preferably bachelor/master/Phd. Met Thai wife to be in the US where she was in grad school working on her Master's. Completed her PhD after that.
2. Has a solid circle of friends who are similarly educated. Check
3. Has a stable job on a decent income. Nope, she was a grad student but did have an assistantship that covered tuition, books, and a small stipend.
4. Does not hang around in bars in her spare time. Never
5. Has never been and does not mix with bar girls or prostitutes. Never
6. Enjoys similar kinds of food as I do. Nope but is willing to try new stuff. Doesn't have to always eat Thai food.
7. Has a decent taste in music & films and/or is willing to learn about them if she doesn't know much. Yes, including western music
8. Does not have any psychotic brothers that sleep with a pistol under their pillow. No, her brothers are pretty cool
9. Is calm and affectionate and does not fly off the handle every time I spill beer on the couch. Luckily I don't do that and she has a lot of patience
10. Has a great smile. Yes, but it seems most of them do.
In addition, her family definitely has more $$ than mine.
To those that say these types don't exist, you are wrong. There are many of them out there. She had a lot of friends that were very similar to this. Most were just finishing their grad school degrees and then returning to Bangkok.

The people making the rules are probably having a few glasses of Hennessy XO when they get home.
That's pure rubbish! They are at home drinking Johnny Walker Black or perhaps Blue.

At the end of a day it's still just an idea. It's no where close to being enacted. We can only hope that the powers that be will one day open the country back up to foreign tourists. Maybe by 1 December 2021?

My Thai wife passed away almost 16 years ago which was very unexpected. We just transferred ownership of the land and houses that we owned to my oldest luk krueng son about six months later when he turned 20. It wasn't too difficult to do but there were a lot of forms to fill out. You also have to go to each amphur if you have multiple properties. Would be nice if it you could do it all at once at just one central office but that was not possible.

45 double flights of stairs in my Condo just to get to my Top floor. Take the lift down, walk the stairs going up, take the lift down and repeat. Sore as hell the first time I did this last year during the first closure of the parks. Still manage to get out and jog in the early morning, and of course have a flat bench and full kettle bell set up to 16kg. Tried walking up the stairs carrying two 8kg kettle bells, and said no way, so now I just put one in a backpack I have and wear it walking up.
Good idea to take the lift down. Saves some wear and tear on the knees.

I've been hearing of Bangkok sinking for almost 40 years. It's still here and chugging right along. Global warming we haven't heard of quite as long.

Making Thailand their second home? A lot of wishful thinking by a few clueless government officials.

I'm here in Hua Hin. Beaches are open, restaurants that are still in business are open for sit-down until 9pm, massage shops open, Market Village and BluPort shopping malls open, but bars and gyms closed.
As others have said it's a ghost town. If you like walking on the beach and can entertain yourself it would be just OK right now.
Sounds absolutely great! Less crowds of people so should be nice.

A leader, I believe a General can't identify the perpatrators, whom shot and injured at least 2 of his men?
The best he can say is: Foreigners?
[Suwat said that 8 foreigners had been inside the house when officers arrived to serve a search warrant in connection with online gambling. ]
THE JAPAN RED ARMY ? RADICAL MUSLIM GROUPS FROM SYRIA? Nicaraguan Insurgents from San Salvador??? North Korean Spies?
AGAIN, FOREIGNERS MEANS NOTHING!
A group of eight seniors over the age of 60 playing the notorious game of "Bridge"?

This is simple. Get the Pfizer. It's much better than the AstraZeneca. I got my second Pfizer back on 3 May. I didn't have any side affects except for a sore arm.

Moving back to Vancouver for the fresh air and the natural beauty. The people no better no worse than Thais. The govt though, well Canada treats people much MUCH better than here.
Hopefully you already have a home in Vancouver, preferably paid off. Housing costs in Vancouver are simply crazy high.

Coming from USA. Kids are about a year old. Planning on moving in 2022/3. Thinking of sending both boys to Mae Rim or Mae Kat.
555......I came to Thailand with that same idea. My two luk krung kids were 4 & 2 at the time and their Thai Mom was happy to be coming home after a number of years abroad. 12 years later when they were 16 & 14 we returned to our home country. Well, my home country anyway.

Are the big parks in Bangkok like Lumphini and Rod Fai closed? Rama IX and Nong Bon also closed?
Some you can ride bicycles in during certain hours.

Keep your house in Colorado so that you always have a place in farangland to go back to. I enjoy both mtn and road biking and do both in Thailand as well as the US. I don't rock climb anymore but was never a big "rock jock" anyway. I did more glacier type mountaineering of which there is none in Thailand. I do enjoy hiking in the mountains of the western US which I still do as I split my time betwen the two countries. There's good mtn and road biking all over Thailand with lots of different terrain. There's a section on cycling in thaivisa.com you might want to check that out.

I like my home country and Thailand and prefer to divide my time between the two. Of course Covid has pretty much put things a bit out of order over the past 15 months. I always seem to miss the other country when I'm in the other one though. However soon I'll be back and it all works out ok.

I don't. I split my time between my home country and Thailand. I used to live and work in Thailand full time for many years. Now I tend to spend about 4-5 months a year in LOS. Well, except for this past year due to Covid I just stayed in my home country.

Between Leo and Chang, I much prefer the Chang beer.

Lots of hobbies that I do both in Thailand and in my home country. Running, Cycling, Photography, hiking, meeting up with friends to drink beer, finding new places to eat out at, and mangling the Thai language.

That is pretty extreme. I hope your mate took it gently in the van going down.
I am glad that I have been able to avoid rain in the hills; but snow - that would make descending horrific.
Yes, we descended kind of slowly in the van. Was kind of amazed how much snow fell and how low in elevation it reached.

A sad display of actions that most fellow expats do not agree with. They ask people to wear masks when out in public. Just do it!. The guy should be fined.

I really dislike the 90 day reporting. They know where we are when they issued us a visa and the requirement that the landlord or hotel report that a foreigner is staying there.

Do you think your changing as a person as you get older ?

Change is inevitable. It's going to happen and there isn't much you can do about it. It's both positive and negative. I would concentrate on the former and not dwell on the latter.
