  2. All the mobile networks have been taken down now so its impossible to get updates.

We have family about 10kms from the border and regardless of the spin being put on it by either side, things do not look very positive.

My main worry in all of this is that I don't end up with an apartment full of 'refugees' that have nowhere to go and cannot put a time limit on their stay in BKK......

  3. I agree. Even though True is far from perfect, for the money I pay I really get value in terms of download quantity and mobile data too.

2 years back in a brand new house in Sydney I had to fight hard to get a 3rd party access to Telstra's exchange. They kept saying sorry, its at capacity and we cant allow any more connections on that exchange, new housing estate. Telstra amazingly could give me a connection for, I think, around $129 a month WITHOUT unlimited downloads. We eventually won the battle and got TPG ADSL2+ which for the sum of around $60 a month, we were capped at 4GB of downloads.

Now I have the 14MB unlimited connection from True and I cannot complain, I'm really happy with it. Despite all the 'experts' telling me there was no point in having anything more than 8mb due to the overseas links etc when I download a movie or TV show I actually do get the advertised download speed most of the time.

    Thailand 1 - Australia 0

Now lets talk cable TV - Thailand 0 - Australia 1

  4. So Setanta scored another 'coup' and signed a deal for ALL the NRL and State of Origin rugby league :(

Currently the only cable provider in Asia signed up to broadcast it is in Hong Kong :(

Their Facebook page contains some of the following wonderful info:

Unfortunately, we have not yet come to an agreement with a platform in Singapore but talks are on-going and we will be sure to let you know when we have more definitive news.

CONTENT UPDATE: Great news! We are pleased to confirm that Setanta Asia now has the broadcast rights to the Australian NRL and State of Origin Rugby League. More information coming soon.

No doubt Thailand and Malaysia are WAY off the radar, anyone have any more info than this?

  5. The Clubhouse in S23 are advertising all the 6 nations games live and I've seen a listing from them of all the games and times...unfortunately one of the best games (Eng v Wales) is on at 245am, maybe its a friday night game in the UK?

The previous poster that is looking to watch S14(15) on Australia Network is going to be mighty disappointed, AusNetwork dont have the rights anymore, still unclear exactly who does other than Setanta but how they are planning to resell the rights here is anyones guess......

  6. Cant imagine what food from those places mentioned through Chefs XP would be like by the time they reach Dao Khanong?! Highway and tolls too so no motorbikes?

Out there I would think you would have to stick with the places in the back of the true visions guide as they are delivered from local branches......KFC, PIzza, MK etc etc

  7. Cable internet speeds are theoretical and depend on how many users are hanging off the same node. In a normal cable network there are usually around 100 freestanding dwellings off a single node. In Bangkok who has any clue how many residences are hanging off that node?!?!?

I have a friend who subscribes to a 100mb cable modem plan. On a good day he gets the same download speeds as a 16mb ADSL connection but during busy times the speed is 1/10th of that

I'd give it a wide berth, you would be far better off with the 16mb ADSL plan at half the price.....

  8. I've been having trouble with True for a week now...SO many dropouts and really inconsistent download speeds, but up until tonight I was always able to get all the sites I visit regularly.

I'd call them but why waste an hour when you know you aint going to get a result. Come to think of it its probably out of hours for English (or their version of it) support anyway.

Awful company in so many ways.....hope their social media monitoring software is picking up this thread and if it is then FIX IT YOU F^%KING MORONS

  9. Having used both the AIS and DTAC services through Issan out as far as Phra Vihear I can tell you that the AIS service is a waste of time and you will be far better off going with DTAC. AIS you will rarely get more than a few kbps of download bandwidth and you can forget about it when it rains. I was surprised at how well the DTAC edge worked out there, more than enough bandwidth for browsing and streaming both audio and video.
