  1. Even on an extension for work, I have never been asked to show my work permit when re-entering the country and this was just a few months ago. Most people don't travel with their work permits as they could get lost and are useless and meaningless outside of Thailand anyway.

I always carry my workpermit as it is handy to use the Thai Immigration lines when the airport is rammed with tourists.

Yeah I reckon the Audi might be using a bit better oil than an old clunker Vigo.... but I'll call bullcrap on the 50k oil change though.

Like all manufacturers here Toyota are content with selling the most basic cars possible with the least amount of options possible and the least colour choices to a nation of people with a herd mentality. See the massive advertising campaigns about a ten year old car new for this year with........a sticker down the side! And the populace swallow it hook, line and sinker.

    Who would dare question it?

Actually this was my premise regarding the Harrier, it may be an old model to the rest of the west but here I think it was a new offer, it was an brand new vehicle I saw and if you think about it from Toyota's view point, better to get a few more miles out of an older model design in a new market then to redesign for a smaller markets purposes.

Conversely, the Jazz for example was released and market tested in the east for years before coming to the states..

But getting miles out of an older model in a new market only works if they have excessive stock of them. It doe not make financial sense to keep the production line running for the small volume output.

  4. A couple of large paving slabs in the back will provide some relief by preloading the springs a bit and are mostly unobrusive but there is no getting away from the fact that pickups have leaf springs, just like horse drawn wagons.......

The new model Vigo will have a much better ride apparently. The VW Amorak is very good apparently and you can spec a lighter suspension package in the back down from the one tonne carrying capacity of standard. Maybe that is the go for these pickups here! Who ever needs to carry a tonne around? In effect, doing the opposite of the beefed up heavy transport versions you always see in ditches smashed on the side of the road.

Don't forget, the brakes are also quite marginal on these things as well.

How are the brakes marginal on a newish truck - disc front, drum rear, abs, ebd etc etc?

Had a 2005 Vigo, the brakes were terrible. Small front discs drum rear on a large pickup. Don't think they have upped the size or put discs on the rear since then? My subaru xv has larger front discs than that Vigo.

The 2014 Vigo is the same as the 2005 one... just a bit of extra lipstick to try any make it look pretty.

  6. When You live in the Mountains half the year James, every time you look over a drop there's a Hi Racer or an SUV...sorry if that upsets a few neurotics.Facts can be unpleasant.coffee1.gif

Reading between the lines then one should buy a 4X4 pickup, not the Hi-Rider.

  7. I don't think you can. You can extend a visa, but you have no visa.

You cannot extend a visa ... ever.

You can, under certain circumstances, extend your permission to stay in the country.

If you apply for an extension, it would be refused and you would be given 7 days to leave, which amounts to a 7 day extension.

So how are people getting a 30 day extension on a 60 day tourist visa ?
