  1. Seems Kasikorn bank will allow it, found the following in a google search a few months back as i was thinking of setting up a new paypal account.

Hi I have managed to open a Paypal and eBay account using a Thai issued Visa Debit card. It is also quite simple. I am only talking of my own experience but 2 of my friends have done the same thing one Thai and one a Brit living here in Thailand.

    Firstly it seems only a K Bank account works with Paypal this is what my friends and I did;

1.Open Kbank savings account with the Visa Electron option

    2. Apply for internet banking

    3. Once you have internet banking you can apply for a Web Card through the internet banking (this is a security measure by the bank)

    4. Once you have your web card details which will show on your internet banking you can then use this information to open Paypal or Ebay account.

    Hope this helps.

  2. I disagree.

20K won't get you top of the line, but you can build yourself quite a powerhouse with this kind of cash (monitor not included).

yeah i spose one could cobble together something semi decent for "around" 20k

here's a quickie pricelist one from Thanni.com that i threw together, would be adequate i guess.

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz - 6,140.00

    ASUS "P5Q SE PLUS" motherboard - 3,340.00

    Western digital 640gb HDD – 2160.00

    Corsair DDR2 PC- 6400 3gb ram 1800.00

    Asus gts250 graphics card (512mb ddr3) 4740.00

    Coolermaster 500w power supply – 1800.00

    Coolermaster elite case 1200.00

    total = 21180

Ditch the coolermaster case and PSU for a cheap and nasty generic with its own PSU and thats defo under 20k...

  3. 20,000b is not going to build anything decent, 20k will get a mid spec duo core machine, for what you after i would double the budget (at a minimum), for what its worth ive recently built a new machine for myself, quad core processor @2.66mhz, 8gb of 1066mhz ram, gts250 (1gb) graphics card, 2tb of storage, gigabyte motherboard, Corsair 620w power supply unit, all in a tidy Lancool mid case, i had little change from 35,000B and my machine is by no means top end.

20k will buy a nice graphics card though !!!

  4. Most likely will be a failure

Hardly any Thais buy online, most do not have credit cards and wouldn't be comfortable shopping online anyway.

Many wouldn't trust the Thai postal system to deliver anything of any value. If its foreign owned they would be less likely to buy since Thai people don't like purchasing from foreigners (in Thailand).

Thais like going to shops, comparing, fiddling with things, haggling the price etc etc

Thanni.com dont require a credit card, infact they dont have the option to use a CC, direct payment into their bank account.

As for delivery, my 2000b case showed up just fine, as did 1800b cpu heatsink/fan/cooler and im confident the 19000b graphics card will as well.

  5. Thank you a lot for the sites. Will check for my new computer the prices at TukCom and then go to BKK to Pantip and look there too. Problem is if something does not work. Back to Pantip in BKK to change it. In my experience I had to change about 80 % and some things up to 4 times - HDs, MBOs, graphic cards, DVD-drives, enclosures and memory. The leader is the Lite-On DVD RW drive followed by the Seagate HDs made in China and external enclosures writing the wrong data to disks without error messages. Perhaps I should build a house instead of a computer - it might be easier ;-)

LOL, i hear ya with the frustration of shit dying, i have had a few thing die on me, i blame the heat out here, my current build ( quad core/gtx295gpu/4 terrabyte storage/8gb ram etc etc ) idles hot, real hot @ 50DegC, i cant get it cooler via Fans and aftermarket heatsinks so i am in the process of water cooling it.

FWIW, i personally steer clear of seagate HDD's, they have been plagued with firmware issues, i run western digital caviar HDD's (green) and have not had one single issue with them.

  6. Can I purchase and then build a kit car in Thailand. I know I will have to import one but is it possible to build and register vehicle.

Whilst i dont know the legalities of importing and assembling a kits from part form to road registed i do know of someone here in Pattaya building Cobra's, from memory they are running toyota lexus V8's drivelines and BMW suspension on a purpose built spaceframe.

If you want i could find out more details, not sure if they would be willing but they would surely know of the legalities of getting a kit car registered for road use.

Alternatively, email the guys at Thailand Hot Rod Shop They build a tasty 356 porka rep that i assume they register for road use, maybe they could advise.

  7. I want to build a new computer. Do you know if Tukcom is still more expensive than Pantip? I hate to go to BKK but I want to spend some money what could make a difference in the end. I would be happy to find online Pantip prices so that I can compare. Do you know a good site? Thanni, Compute & More, IT City, Shop4Thai and login.co.th I know already. But they are mostly much more expensive. And I prefer to look at the items before I move the cash.

Only other shop that i know of that you can browse online is comseven.com, as to prices differences between Pantip and Tukom, no idea, never been to Pantip.

The prices listed on Com Seven and It Hardware House are the same as listed instore (Tukom), i have found though, either store does not stock all items listed on their respective websites.

FWIW, compare prices between Thanni (online purchase) and It Hardware House (Store purchase) Thanni is actually very competitive.

  8. I'm yet to find an online computer store in Thailand that has cheaper products than the shops in the big cities

Ive bought a few things online from Thanni.com my last purchase was a Lian Li Lancool Case, price was comparable to what i would have paid back home in australia, from the intial payment to delivery to my door was 5days, i thought reasonable.

As for price comparison to tukom/Pantip, my motherboard and cpu that i purchased 2 months at tukom are actually cheaper @ Thanni.

Had hoped this new Danish online store to be offering some things im struggling to purchase, such as water cooling gear for my cpu/gpu etc etc, nup no dice, i'll stick to tukom and Thanni.

  9. Paint Application Systems (PASS) in Chonburi are very capable, low volume/high volume no probs for them, they work from CAD data as well, Laser Cutter/CNCMilling/Lathe/CNC Punch/bending/powdercoating etc etc etc.

They can supply base material or are willing to use material supplied, i'll grab their contact details tomorrow when im in the office, they Speak engrish as well !!!

  10. Is it a real Nokia service center or just a store with a pretty large Nokia sign?

It is a proper Nokia shop, infact its called Nokia Care, just yesterday i picked up my 2 week old N97 that had been in for a new screen and slide lock button.

The hours are 9.00am to 7.00pm monday to saturday.

  11. Coming down Sukhumvit road from Pattaya Tai to Pattaya klang, approx 300 metres before Klang there is a RC shop on the left, they mainly sell Aero stuff, they will defo have your radio gear, not sure on the deisel engines though, but quite possibly they may know where.
