I think there are MP3 files of barking dogs if you want to make something yourself , 

youtube has a 12 hour barking video....

But this only helps if the bad guys are "traveling" thru your area ,  if they are local they know you do not have a dog , 

when we were in Hawaii they had guard "geese" that would make a lot of noise and "bite" intruders , 

Is there an easy way to set up a camera "flash" so they know a picture has been taken ?

before turning in the competitors  make sure you are squeeky clean , because  once you open that door who knows what can happen , 

and are no Thais also doing this business ?   They may want to get you out ?????

You have seen all the same stores near each other all over Thailand  ,

how long did you think it would be until you were copied....

And  "if" you get rid of the competitors  do you really think your customers are going to be happy paying the old higher prices ?

Lots of things to think about before you do anything !

I assume the dogs are pretty big , do they trigger the motion sensors on the cameras and give false warnings ?

what about trees blowing , birds that get too close etc ?

When I set up a "Game camera" in my back yard I got many false readings , most were the wind and clowds changing the background

maybe something that takes DNA samples :) like some rusty nails !

Put a few cameras out that they can see , and hid the good ones !

But really there is not much you can do yourself  if the cameras send pictures to your phone and you are away , 

unless you are on good terms with the local cops , but the thieves probably have a look out and will be long gone when the cops get there.....

One thing is to make it hard to get anything out of the house ,  if they need to go out the same window they went in ,  it this will slow them down , 

If they can go thru the front or rear doors than they can clear you out quick , 

we have double key dead bolt locks with a key on both sides ,  now they cannot get out !

but also do not lock yourself in if there is a fire.....

Do the factories that make the top brands also make "no name" brands with the same basic designs and materials ?

I doubt a $150 pair of brand name shoes cost much more than $25 at the factory ,  

Mine normally takes at least 5 days and sometimes longer to post,

if you are using a new paypal account  to sell stuff on ebay they can hold it up to 3 weeks 'to prevent fraud'

check out the one price priority mail boxes and see if it will fit in one of those......

there is no surface / sea mail anymore out of the USA so everything goes Air ,

I am looking for a website or App that will help in Pronunciation  and that uses the Google voice / translate engine 

I would like to type or "cut and paste" a word or group of English words  and have the program pronounce it in English

also it would be great if it can also work in Thai , but Google Thai speech engine does not seem that good ,

I hope its something already made , as it seems all the pieces are available thru Google services but  aimed more at translation and not pronunciation,

there are a few on Google play store but they do not seem very good, 

anyway I think this can help all of us , often  I see a word I am not sure of , and trying to sound it out ( as we were taught phonics  in school) does not seem right !

or can it be when your passport is stamped and when you check back in at Airport and passport is stamped ?

The reason I started this tread was seeing more flooding pictures everyday on Twitter etc ,  and remembering how bad it was in the Big BBK floods ,

I doubt it will get that bad again , but they are still going to save the central city part of BKK , but only by letting other areas flood more ,

But as Thaidream said above , you can be stuck a long time , and there are nasties in the water ,

So does anyone know how far the electric voltage travels from the spot it contacts the water ?   and is still dangerous ?

I remember in old movies where they would "catch" fish by zapping them with electricity , I just do not want to be one of those  fish :)

how do you "plan" for street floods ?

simple things like keeping your shoes dry   without fisherman waders / Wellies ?  

what  about all the nasties in the rain water ?   

or the swarms of electric wires and getting zapped  !   

It seems this year there are more street floods than the last few years ( or more airtime )  and the cars and trucks are not slowing down so the water wave they create makes it worse !

anyway I would like to hear what you do ,  or if you just do not go outside !

I would like to be a house sitter too ,

I can offer 2 suitcases full of  food  from the USA ,

all I ask is an economy class RT ticket ,  Ohhh and I do not wash windows :)

I can also make sure your car gets  started and used carefully so the tires do not develop flat spots ,

And I will not Air BnB  your place for pocket money ,  you can even have a WiFi camera to check up on me  !

Ants have been crazy at my house all summer , so I need to try something like this

But its the same thing on Ebay or any other market ,  people copy success !

But what gets me is that the new competition cuts the price so much that even if they got more than half of the total sales they would still not make a profit , 

cut the price 10-20% , maybe do a buy 2 get 1 free , because you get full price for the first 2 and on the 3rd one its OK to break even , 

Poor people do not understand gross and net profits , they were never taught that , they just count the money in their pocket.

its amazing that anything sells on the streets in Thailand when there seems to be a 7-11  just around the corner !

I would probably only hire a Maid to show up when I am there , 

I can wash my own clothes , cook my own food ,  but overall I am lazy so a maid can do things I do not want to , 

But if I was going to have them work when I was not there , I would be sure they knew where "some" of the security cameras are,

but not all of them !

another problem using a Thai debit card is many are not set-up to send or accept International deposits, 

So make sure you do that before signing up.

and as I remember Paypal takes  a few cents out of your debit card account to make sure its real, that is  why it needs to be international

When I lived in Hawaii years ago , the small house was 2-3 feet off the ground and the floors were wood slates with spaces between the slates so the house had some flow thru ventilation ,  with the screens on the windows it kept it cooler.......

This seems to be what a "good office job"  is paid after a few years ,  

Hate to say it , but maybe she just needs to stay where she is ,  because how much extra will she need to take a chance at a new job ?

I think that is also why there are so many weekend / street markets with people selling stuff they made , it is one way to add 5k-10k baht a month and still keep your regular job
