  1. The problem will be is the will find a few low level sellers and parade them in front of the press ,

but like most things around the World ( not just Thailand )  Mr Big ,  who thought up this idea will be over on the sides counting his money ,

But making a banknote is bad enough , making one like this will get you DEAD ,

I hope they catch "MR  Big"

  2. Been playing with it a little....XP still lives :)

the last Google chrome browser for XP is Chrome 49 and you can find it on the web to download , but not from Google !

also put on Opera browser , updated Skype ,  added 7zip

My $30 Motorola phone has a much better screen ,  but the Netbook is OK  and battery life is 5-6 hours , so good to watch videos,

and they can go on the Hard drive or SD card

Anyone know a good program to use webcams as security cameras on XP ?   or maybe old Android phones ?

  3. Hi

I bought a couple of these for $15 each to play with them.....the local school got rid of piles of them ,

they have 160GB hard drives and 2GB memory (that is the MAX it will take) and by todays standards are SLOW

Right now it has legal  Windows XP on it ,  I can get Windows 7 put on them without a serial number :( ,

Any ideas what interesting things to use them for ?

I can watch YouTube  and Google Chrome is on it but Chrome is not supported anymore.....but old Chrome still works  .....maybe run Opera or firefox ?

I am thinking of just having an extra "screen" to watch  you tube or other simple things but maybe there are other things I have not thought of ,

Security system with USB webcams ?

Some kind of language learning software  ?

it is probably too slow for any games ( not a gamer anyway)

Put Linux on it  (not sure why?)

Anyway what do you do with your old netbooks - notebooks ?

    thanks for your ideas

Do you know anyone that earns B3000/m?

many do not have paid work everyday , so 3000 baht a month may be all the make ,

opposite is true ,  if a repairman charges you $50 to fix something and it takes him 15 minutes , you think he is getting rich , because you think $200 an hour....but he may only get a couple  jobs a day.....

you can always play with numbers :)

  5. Hi

I am looking for a website or App that will help in Pronunciation  and that uses the Google voice / translate engine

I would like to type or "cut and paste" a word or group of English words  and have the program pronounce it in English

also it would be great if it can also work in Thai , but Google Thai speech engine does not seem that good ,

here is one but the English speech seems too fast  , https://speechpad.pw/prononce.php ,

this one works good too but has limited words    http://www.sanjaybhowmick.com/demo/pronunciation/index.php

Has anyone used an App or Windows program to teach English pronunciation ?

    or learn Thai pronunciation

I hope its something already made , as it seems all the pieces are available thru Google services but  aimed more at translation and not pronunciation,

there are a few on Google play store but they do not seem very good,

anyway I think this can help all of us , often  I see a word I am not sure of , and trying to sound it out ( as we were taught phonics  in school) does not seem right !

    Thanks for your ideas

  6. Sorry BORING ........

OK , it might have been overkill  with too many sellers right around the corner area , but why not just have them on one side of the walkway and not both sides ?

I am sorry to see all these places "cleaned up" , are there any numbers of how many more visitors they are getting ????

The street markets were the draw for many Thais  and  a few tourists , but mostly Thais when I was there....

    Hello guys,,

this recent post of BKK dreaming about GSM sim card tracker, how is it?

something like to mobile device to insert a sim card inside it to keep the tracking signals or else?

is there are tracking device connected with the satellites? or could be tracked by suck signals to locate the where the device around?

look up gsm tracker on ebay ,   you could call it a mobile phone with no screen or keyboard !

it just uses the mobile phone set-up / GSM sim card ,

you set it up to "call home" when it gets moved out of its area , or you can set it to "call home" every minute ,  when it is moving etc ,

I have no idea how good the cheap ones work , and if I was going to use it  in a car or truck I might just use an old mobile phone that has a GPS chip and android for the App,

    Hope that helps

  8. as I understand it , TrackR works by crowd sourcing , you need to have other TrackR users close to your lost item ,,

     ,

once you report it missing to TrackR  , it Pings  its location to a close TrackR user, ,

It needs many users to be all over the world and close to your lost item :)    ..........great idea that is not going to work most places

If you want to track , get a GSM sim card tracker, if there is cell service it will be able to track it......

  9. The reason I started this tread was seeing more flooding pictures everyday on Twitter etc ,  and remembering how bad it was in the Big BBK floods ,

I doubt it will get that bad again , but they are still going to save the central city part of BKK , but only by letting other areas flood more ,

But as Thaidream said above , you can be stuck a long time , and there are nasties in the water ,

So does anyone know how far the electric voltage travels from the spot it contacts the water ?   and is still dangerous ?

I remember in old movies where they would "catch" fish by zapping them with electricity , I just do not want to be one of those  fish :)

    Stay safe
