Re the TRUE baht 90 phone, picked one up an hour ago, used my Thai non-ID card, no problem. Locked to TRUE so can't use it for Lao travel with a Lao SIM, but fine for Thailand as a loaner. Has the essentials, phone and camera.
Mac
was it 90 baht out the door or did you have to put phone credit on it too ?

Hi
any idea on the cost of a full eye exam at Rutnin ?
Thanks

there are tons of metal shops at the start of Chinatown , selling metal and making stuff
go to the start of Yaowarat Rd , where the traffic circle is , go on the left side of the circle and walk down some of those side streets, dozens of shops on each street , plus nuts and bolts , bearings , pullys etc
Go to Google street view and have a look :) Talat Noi on Google map
good luck , let us know how it works out

I was thinking of taking China southern from LAX , with the idea of "how bad can it be " , but some of these posts have pushed "how bad" farther than I think I want to go ,
Going thru Taiwan is OK , but sometimes you need to walk a long way to another terminal for transfer , and no one tells you that ( I know now)
the other cheaper flights are China Eastern and Air China , but only $100 more for EVA
But all these flights are so much cheaper than 2 years ago ......

good start , how young can the baby be and not have to wear a tiny helmet ?
is there a maximum number of Helmets required per motorbike since some have 3 passengers and the family dog :)
And what is an "official" helmet ?

Hi
how do you "plan" for street floods ?
simple things like keeping your shoes dry without fisherman waders / Wellies ?
what about all the nasties in the rain water ?
or the swarms of electric wires and getting zapped !
It seems this year there are more street floods than the last few years ( or more airtime ) and the cars and trucks are not slowing down so the water wave they create makes it worse !
anyway I would like to hear what you do , or if you just do not go outside !

would the 1-2 call phone have to be turned on ?
If you take the phone and sim out of Thailand , does the number still get text messages ?
I know when I come back into Thailand , turn the phone on for the first time , I do not get a pile of old text messages

Is there a suggested Best method to get from the end of the MRT in Bang Sue to the start of the PURPLE line ?

I would like to be a house sitter too ,
I can offer 2 suitcases full of food from the USA ,
all I ask is an economy class RT ticket , Ohhh and I do not wash windows :)
I can also make sure your car gets started and used carefully so the tires do not develop flat spots ,
And I will not Air BnB your place for pocket money , you can even have a WiFi camera to check up on me !
But must be within walking distance od BTS - MRT and 7-11 ......

is it the same for a car drivers license ?

here is a good show about start-ups on NHK Japanese TV in English
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/vod/lens/20160919/
link good for a couple weeks
You can see how the shared office space and maker space helps things get done ,
They need to make a few of those places and forget the submarines !

I don't want to sound rude so please don't misunderstand... but why do you request a "dumb" phone? As they age they're almost more expensive than low level smart phones. Is there a particular reason you want something downgraded?
For me...... I want one I can drop many times like my old Motorola flip phone , I want one with buttons to push ,
I want it to close so i do not "butt call" , and when I open it after it rings I am connected , no more buttons to push !
I want long battery life if I am not talking ,
I do have another phone / tablet to use for internet stuff , but most of the time I have my flip phone for calls and texts,
and I doubt I do 50 texts in a month......
And yes I still have my landline at home too

There was a simpsons episode where when you visited Crustyland , you had to buy Crusty dollars only good there ......well not good at half the places there either
So 1000 baht a day is great IF its Thai cash they have to spend and cannot turn it in when they leave
I am sure the Hotel , Tour Bus . food etc costs much more than 1000 baht a day , but that does not go into the into the local Thai economy
So just hand them 1000 baht cash when they get off the bus in Chinatown , Emporium, MBK , JJ market and let them roam like "free range" chickens ! spending it how they want

it looks like my old 2G Motorola flip phone will not be working soon ,
So what is the cheapest unlocked 3G "dumb" phone I can buy ?
it just needs to call and text , I will use it in other countries so it needs to be carrier unlocked
I have a larger Phone-tablet but it is really too big sometimes to carry around and not look stupid ( other times I do not care )
thanks for your ideas

I will throw this in for other cars , normally you can get to the starter from under the car ,
jump the hot lead cable of the starter to the + on the battery or a battery charger , and ground the other negative side to the chassis
I have charged my car battery this way before when I could not get the front hood open to get to the cars battery

you seem to think that throwing this young girl into a Thai school will teach her instantly ,
what about the months she just sits there and does not understand 90% of whats happening ,
If you are taking her to Thailand for years , put her in an International school and let her learn Thai after school or in the outside world ,
it is going to be tough on her anyway moving , why make it harder on her , plus the international school will give her a better future in both Thailand and back in the UK
I know , easy to say , as I am not paying for it , and do not know the full story......
Good luck on whatever you decide.....
-
and will there be 2 or 3 price levels for the same service ?
I can see it will be a busy place
-
If you are only going after the Thai market , you have a population of 67 million ,
so 1/10th of 1% is still 67,000 , still not a bad number ....
But if its a good idea , then language will not matter because that can be changed ,
But the Thai way of copying anything and not caring will be more of a problem.
-
It shows you that you can make good money with an idea and a low price like 60 baht ,
That is the beauty of the Internet , things like this make no sense , but make big $$$$$
Now to think of what to draw .......
-
yeah , the only thing I can think of is ESET virus protector , it Updates around the time the WiFi stopped working
The Windows 10 deal is scary , not so bad if you have other devices that you can look at to figure out a fix , but what if that is the only Internet device in the house ,
Microsoft really pushed everyone into W 10 and they became crash test dummies !
-
First problem is language , and Google is very bad if that is how you are going to translate English , no idea if Chinese + Japanese are as bad
Then they need to have more places like Japan where you have shared office space / maker spaces with lots of equipment everyone can use , and you hang around with like minded people trying to get ahead and make things ,
I think the talent is there , it needs some direction and some funding
Watch some of the shows on Japans NHK World and see what can be done by small companies ,

can you use a kids small rubber ball for the sink ?
is anyone going to be in your condo that 4 months ? cleaning lady etc ?

Call the UK or Australia Thai air offices and I am pretty sure you will get an English speaker.
its a pity they stopped all the USA flights , I flew out of LAX to Bangkok on Thai air many times
Nice knowing you, Porn! Thai students in New Zealand asked to ditch their dirty nicknames
in Thailand News
Posted
this is to help the students have an easier time in NZ , so who would be giving them a bad time ? ummmm NZ boys and girls at school , and you know how kids can be ,
So I think its a good idea , the Thai students have enough problems being in another country , why start them off on the wrong foot getting picked on ?
If you given name translated into Thai as "dirty dog" would you use another name ?
