  1. Makes one wonder how in the world that this airport seizure actually took place for all those days totally with impunity and unchallenged by government, military, or any airport security forces? Absolutely astonishing. The single most outstanding event that stands out as a big negative question about Thailand's ability to manage its affairs and operate as a secure, reliable state in the world.

Remmember the 30 armed men in black who siezed the airport parking lot last year ? npolice never even showed up I believe it was about the skimming and someone was not getting his fair share. Thailand only money is important

  2. Is anyone else getting confused by the conflicting information here. First we are told that:

"Police have arrested at least four people travelling inside the vehicle*: one Russian man, two Malaysian women and one Thai man."

*Said vehicle was reported to be a Toyota Fortuner. Then the latest report:

"There were five passengers on the pickup truck, including three men and two women of Spanish, Malaysian, Turkish, Russian and Thai nationalities."

So this report states that these suspects were arrested in a pickup not a Fortuner... which makes me think perhaps this was a 2nd group linked to the first, but then it goes on to say about one woman escaping...?! So did they let one woman escape from each group or are they confusing the same incident with conflicting information?

If there were 2x Malaysian women, as we were told then how could the three men be Turkish, Russian, Thai and Spanish... that would require at least 4 men, one of each nationality!

Clear as mud this one... at least the standards of journalism here are fairly consistent....ly bad!

    Quite clear to me.

  3. One could argue the police are doing their jobs and maybe if they did these type of spot checks more often, they would find more under age girls and illegal immigrants. I'm not taking sides but stating the facts.

The police would be lining their pockets, do you think anyone gives a fig about hookers in this town ?

  4. Why a joke ? I worked on communication strategies for Singapore Convention Bureau for some time and for many hotels in Thailand and what is being praised is the infrastructure and facilities put in place by the pros that bring in MICE visitors. That you might see any of that from your perspective does not negate its reality.

what a crock, Pattaya is the largest brothel in the world and attracts perverts of every ilk, scam artists, russian mafia, jet ski operaters and the last I heard the beach has almost disapeared and what there is is polluted with sewage, Only in Thailand.

  5. There is no need to prove myself.

But yes, I do give a F. I give a F about other people, I hope other people give a F about me.

I don't interfere with other peoples lives and I don't expect others to interfere with mine, but a I do give a F. I give a big F because I like and generally care about and have a good feeling for others. I give a F and I would stop to help someone in genuine need, I will also respond positively to a genuine and well written thread on TV.Com; a website which I believe brings useful information and benefit of some form to my life.

I give a F about a lot of things, if I didn't I would not be part of humanity, instead I'd be an arrogant observer judging life itself. So Yes, I do give a F, and so should everyone....

Giving so many Fs you must be exhausted.clap2.gif

  6. Just had a ten day trip to Saigon with an early flight from Bkk, drove to airport from Hua Hin and checked in at the Regent hotel located Soi 22 Lat Krabang road ten minutes from airport which was great value at 1000 baht, meaning to drive to airport in the morning and park up in long term, The hotel staff informed me I could leave my cas in the covered underground car park of the hotel free of charge and simply collect it on my return, which I did, Suspect this is a well kept secret as I only found out about it by accident.

  7. dont see the problem.. but then again im not one of those neo-<deleted> that get offended and cry to their mommies every single day when someone looks at them the wrong way.

those born 50 years ago had it good. Anyone complaining about something as stupid as this would get tied to a tree and left there for a night back then. no whining little girls were allowed to exist publicly without major punishment.

this is SO thai. complain about kfc promoting education on the tsunnami.. but then they leave home to go to mcdonalds and decide not to wear their helmet to keep their mullet intact.

    wow heavy stuff man

  8. But I know a few people who have great relationships and would like to hear from you. How did you meet you Thai gf/wife, what makes her special to you? Any tips?

Yep, if you've found someone special, or even not special but special to you - DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER MENTIONING HER HERE IN THIS BED OF VIPERS WE KNOW AS THAI VISA.

    Please... nest of vipers

  9. Transport Ministry Tightens Road Safety During Songkran Holiday

BANGKOK: -- The transport minister ordered all bus terminals to monitor their bus drivers strictly for road safety purposes to reduce car accidents down by 5 percent during the Songkran holiday.

Meanwhile, the Transport Company also added 6,000 bus services per day to accommodate its passengers.

Transport Minister Jarupong Ruangsuwan presided over the event to promote the road safety campaign “Zero Deaths for the Songkran Holiday” at the Bangkok bus terminal in Chatuchak District.

According to the 2011 road accident records, it showed that there were 271 deaths, and 3,476 injuries from car accidents caused by drunk driving and speeding.

The highest number of deaths were found among teenagers.

Transport Company President Wuttichart Kunlayanamit said some residents have traveled since the end of last month.

The president estimated that about 200,000 travelers will show up at the bus station today.

He was confident that the number of buses will be sufficient for passengers during the holiday because the Transport Company organized 6,000 bus services each day, which will be able to serve 250,000 passengers.

Furthermore, the Transport company also brought 50 air-conditioning buses from the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority or BMTA to serve passengers in Bangkok and the surrounding areas such as Ayutthaya, Lopburi, and Saraburi provinces.

Wow bus terminals can actually moniter drivers, only in Thailand. What would really help is to have a crack down with a few vows to put a stop to road accidents.

  10. VERY SAD I just hope that he did not die because the fire exit was locked or because of a basic error that could have been avoided, why couldn't he get out? Surely no 26yr old tourists are sleeping in Kao San road at 1am. Thoughts go out to the family

Sad but fire exit or not nothing will happen he is just a farang tourist, I do not want to think this way but it is so true.RIP

  11. I am a permanent resident of Thailand and I never have to pay any more than Thais when I show my residence. But I have to pay income tax in spite of being retired. Whereas those who live here on extended visas including retirees pay no tax. You can't have it both ways.

Buy a car you pay tax.

Buy a motorcycle you pay tax.

Buy virtually any goods and you pay tax.
