  1. The trivial amount of fillers and binders in a multivitamin pill is the least of your worries. Up 2 U, as we say in Pattaya. Go read the Biohackers and Supplements subreddits and create a personal stack for yourself. Nuts aren't cheap in Thailand. But they taste great and certainly have a place in a healthy diet. Studies treat nuts very kindly. I like my daily handful of almonds.
  2. Most discussion devolve into d*ck self-love and memorable sexual conquests. Average mental age of the forum, 14 maybe.
  3. First, as suggested above, take it out of the case and plug it into your desktop. If it works, you can buy a new external case from Lazada. No joy, send to Bangkok for data recovery if there's anything important on the drive. https://www.atlrecovery.net/ Free check, no charge if can't recover. Good outfit from my own previous limited experience in behalf of a friend w/ damaged HDD.
  4. It's indeed surprising among so many refined palates here to find one unrefined. However, we're talking serious money here for our pensioners. Visa agent fees leave little leftover to pay the electric bill. So minor offenses to one's delicate palate can sometimes be tolerated, as long as they're not perpetrated by Starbucks coffee.
  5. Yeah, repartition the NVME. You don't need all those partitions. In fact, one will do. Adjust boot drives in BIOS. Disable any superfluous. Get back plenty of space for C:. Here's a free utility to use for checking space allocation: https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free. Since you'll have plenty of space, you might set your Windows to hibernate at shutdown. Should lead to a faster bootup.
  6. As will eating one multivitamin per day, plus a lot more. Kirkland Signature Adult 50+ Mature Multi Vitamins & Minerals Brazil nuts good but almonds more nutrition/baht. I go for the almonds. But Makro seems to have dropped the Aro 1kg bags. Oh well. Lazada.
  7. More evidence that one should never underestimate the placebo effect.
  8. I believe in annual checkups. Most years I just go to a lab, however. But this year Phyathai Sriricha had great Father's Day special, B15000 package discounted to B5000 w/ CT calcium and abdomen ultrasound. Can be. I think the prostrate threads on here have been useful. After hearing @ThaiPauly's story, I'll never get TURP, that's for sure.

    Mini PC

Hmm. I like that old CPU, I had an FX 8350 for years and only switched it out recently in my spare computer. The μATX MB was legacy BIOS; I wanted finally to change to UEFI for a few reasons. Was about to buy a new (used) board, but then got a steal on an Asus LGA1155 from an old guy in my condo parting out (or should I say, departing out). So I got an I7 3770 (in same league as the FX) on Aliexpress and run that. Maybe you've done some troubleshooting already? CCcleaner etc. Disappearing drives . . . . We never see this suggested here, but sometimes just a simple spray of electrical contact cleaner in the ports helps. Also rub a pencil eraser on the drive contracts (data and power) and RAM sticks. Corrosion seems a bigger issue here in Thailand. Just yesterday I was changing my games SSD to a larger one--NEW Corsair MX500. Cloned and installed the larger one and got a lot of slow startup and "drive not found" nonsense. HUH? I cleaned the contacts and sprayed in contact cleaner and the problem went away! I had to laugh. I didn't think it'd work.

    Mini PC

In theory you could use one or more USB hubs to make for the lack of USB ports on the mini-PC. With your present PC you could perhaps consolidate the 3 USB HDDs. I have 1 SSD system drive, 1 SSD games drive, 2x6 TB HDDs, one for backup. I have another external backup I plug into a mobile rack in the PC case once a month or so. I could see an argument in favor of a mini-PC and a NAS. But then I'd have to buy the NAS and fool around. This has worked fine for years. I've been through several major and minor upgrades. PC case and power supply are original. :) It's all a couple of generations out of date. I think about getting the latest and greatest, which I could afford, but then what I have now is really all I need, quite fast enough. I think of a classic car with new parts.
  13. I say you made the wisest decision. I took mine early, no regrets. I also retired early. https://www.fool.com/retirement/2017/11/19/why-smart-people-take-social-security-at-62.aspx https://finance.yahoo.com/news/10-reasons-claim-social-security-133005765.html https://money.usnews.com/money/retirement/social-security/articles/reasons-to-take-social-security-early
  14. I don't worry much about what I can't change. And I needn't waste time composing pretentious, useless opinions and "solutions" on the 'net to attain a greater sense of my own self-importance. I know who I am already. I try to say something useful sometimes and offer an alternative perspective. I also look to have a laugh at some of the nonsense. We hear the chorus chanting the same things daily. Nobody's paying attention, least of all The Authorities. Read over The Serenity Prayer, ha ha.

NUCs are big around here. Me, I'm a believer in upgrading. As you know, you've got good, fairly new parts there already. Good reliable power supply that'll last for at least 4 more years, probably longer.
  16. Made it up, like other stories, and trolling. Has slight case of dementia, I suspect. But time for the daily rants and bashing by our countless ANF Driving Instructors, Urban Planners, and Police Oversight Board members.
  17. Great views. I went to the coffee shop up there close to the Pattaya sign last weekend. Nice! Like riding along the beaches on my motorbike and down the coast, Koh Larn in the distance. Russian hotties on the beach these days are improving the view a lot, too. Loved joking around w/ the ladies at City Hall when I went to get my yellow book. Gave one my phone number, still waiting. Enjoyed meeting the mayor, very personable. And the tax office was great. After seeing my yellow book, the officer told me I didn't owe tax on my condo and to ignore future notices! Yeah, great people. The Great Seal of Pattaya City Love the view of the fireworks around the bay from a high balcony. Kick back w/ a bourbon and good stogie. Ah! Have the sense to let others worry about traffic. Gives the place a certain dystopian panache. You'll need to look where you're going. No, Pattaya isn't the UK, though potholes are quite common there. Go just out of town for some great rides. Couple of cycling clubs around; they know.
  18. You'll need to account for the years taken off your life by renting, about 2 weeks per rental year. Most of our members believe strongly in the Little Miss Muffet principle here in Thailand and insist on renting only. https://nypost.com/2023/12/03/lifestyle/disturbing-reason-were-aging-faster/
  19. Americans and Aussies seem to understand each other pretty well, except for the occasional idiom. Among Brits, I once happened to meet an Oxford grad (in Pattaya) who spoke English. Very urbane, witty, conversant on all manner of topics, not just beer, birds, ball, and bashing.
  20. True. Typical feminine hysteria against the political opposition. Abe Lincoln himself--and his wife--got the same treatment or worse. Trump's not very effectual anyway, far less so than demented Biden, who's got the State, media, and tech behind him to help inflate the currency, impose destructive mandates, and silence critics. So, nothing much for our libtards to worry about, but the demonization and drama gives life meaning. It would be nice if Trump's p*ssed off enough finally to crack down on leftist thuggery in its various manifestations, as he failed miserably to do when in office. But he probably won't. Mostly bluster. Relax. It's a great day in Pattaya. :)
  21. Peter Attia discusses the centenarians in his new book Outlive: The Art and Science of Longevity, among other places. Their superpower is their ability to resist or delay the onset of chronic disease by one or two or even three decades, while also maintaining relatively good healthspan. Besides living longer, the centenarians compress morbidity into a short period at the end. Achieving compression of morbidity defies the Sour Grapes or Bedsit Paradigm of ANF Poster Longevity Science: 1. Sour Grapes or the Bedsit Paradigm (cf. The French Salute) Live longer, spend more years miserable in the bedsit Attia points out that medicating to suppress the symptoms of disease, rather than preventing disease in the first place via healthy lifestyle, tends to ensure more years of morbidity--and ironically more years in the bedsit. Few, if any, seem to achieve that ideal short but happy life ending with a smile on one's face during a bonk. Hence all the running after docs, meds, hospitals, surgeries, insurance, paying bills here in this forum. Which somehow doesn't meet our definition of stress. :) Ironically, posters have been known to recommend against getting checkups but instead wait for symptoms of illness before seeing a doc. It’s this phase shift that we want to emulate. But Medicine 2.0, which is almost solely focused on helping us live longer with disease, is not going to get us there. Its interventions almost always come too late, when disease is already established. We have to look at the other end of the time line, trying to slow or stop diseases before they start. We must focus on delaying the onset rather than extending the duration of disease—and not just one disease but all chronic diseases. Our goal is to live longer without disease. --Peter Attia, Outlive: The Art and Science of Longevity.
  22. Dilutes the bad reputation and affirms status as Imperials to command greater respect. Or at least some respect.
  23. I find it much, much better than just after the outage. You might try a different browser, clearing your cache, etc.
  24. I believe that. The women they refused to release are almost all younger women: The captives include Ofra Keidar and Judy Weinstein, both 70 years old, as well as Romi Leshem Gonen (23), Eden Yerushalmi (24), Liri Elbag (18), Daniela Gilboa (19), Karina Ariev (19), Noa Argamani (26), Inbar Heiman (27), Emily Demari (27), Arbel Yahud (28), Agam Berger (19), Naama Levy (19), Amit Buskila (28), Eden Zakaria (28), Doron Steinbracher (30), Shiri Bibas (32), and Carmel Gat (39). --https://www.ynetnews.com/article/byurydvb6 The horrific videos of Noa Argamani and Naama Levy being kidnapped were widely circulated, both attractive women. Naama Levy was shown being hauled out of the back of a Jeep SUV and shoved into the back seat. Her pants were blooded from rapes and her Achilles heel slashed.
  25. I dunno. However, I suggest taking Bolt. Less that B400 door to door.
