  1. A few days ago I saw a post in my Facebook news feed saying that 7-11 memberships are now available to foreigners. While it was a 3rd party post, it had an authentic look to it, and I said to myself "What would anyone stand to gain from posting this, if it isn't true ?" I went to my nearest 7-11 (where I am known), and spoke to the co-owner. She gave me a "mai dai !". That was not completely unexpected. I contacted 7-11 on Facebook. The person who replied said I could get it, provided I have a Thai phone number. (Thai ID card not required) After I told them what had happened, they said they would get back to me, but they haven't. Obviously, I can't go in to a 7-11, run around the counter, and seize the keyboard to try and do it myself. Has anyone succeeded in doing this, particularly in Bangkok ? I spend enough there that it would probably be worthwhile to travel (within reason) to get this accomplished.
  2. My OP referred to TTB. I have had an account at Kasikorn for 20 yrs. I was in a branch a few months ago; I don't remember having to enter my phone number to get a queue ticket.
  3. I had two relatively inactive accounts with TTB. At one point, they told me to either become more active, or they would close the accounts. I did the latter. it had nothing to do with my visa Instead of using technology to help their customers, they are using it to hassle them. The last few times I visited (before closure) I was required to enter my phone number in their queue machine, before I could even get a queue ticket. You might want to take your business elsewhere. None of the other banks I deal with do that.
  4. I have answered this on the Thai Visa page.
  5. Public sector offices always get a two day holiday on this holiday. The private sector only gets the first day, because they got Labour Day (May 1) as a holiday, while the public sector did not.
  6. Thank you. My friend has now succeeded in making the card refillable. So, this card can now be used like a regular Visa card to purchase from shops and restaurants ?
  7. An off topic, but related question: A friend just bought a refillable, reusable card (for the MRT only). It has a Visa logo on the front, a 16 digit Visa-like number on the back, and a CVV. But it is not linked to his bank account, so is not a debit card. And he was asked no questions about his employment or salary, so it is not a credit card either. Does anyone know what exactly this card is ?
  8. Thailand Post. Ask for "Logistpost" at the counter where they sell cardboard boxes.
  9. Just checked the Bank of Thailand website. June 2, 2025 is a special holiday. Perhaps leave my post in place to remind others.
  10. A friend who works as a teacher says that his school will be closed that day. Has the govt. proclaimed a "bridge day" holiday to link the June 3 holiday to the weekend ? I have been out of Thailand for a couple of weeks, so may have missed something.
  11. Yes. You can have a second employer added to your Work Permit, with written permission from your employer. I know someone who did it.
  12. Twice per day with an ATM card. I presume the same for cardless.
  13. A worrisome combination: "no leverage with an employer..." and "hefty fines for non-cancellation".
  14. I have received conflicting information in response to the following question: Is gay marriage possible in Thailand, if both partners are resident foreigners on one year visa extensions ? Please cite your source. I am not interested in rumours, gossip or hearsay.
  15. Songran, and allowing for one extra day before and after, should be no longer than Apr. 11 - 17. You will be fine.
