  1. discount the BS-rate of 30%

LOL..... :o that struck me as a very funny line, Axel.... thanks for the good laugh this morning.. :D

is that some official government rating? like the prime lending rate? LOL

or does it float up and down like the baht/dollar exchange rate? LOL

    LOL.... thanks again :D

  2. these ridiculous and baseless claims to superiority by other Western nations.  And I say this as a person of color.  How do you make these claims, Sriracha, do tell.

From the point of view of a world traveler (27 countries to date). As someone that was raised and actually lived in America and didn't "study" about it from a book. As the father of mixed race children raised in America.

There's nothing ridiculous about claiming America is the most violent country in regards to just about any issue. They have 1,000,000 persons locked up in prisons nation-wide. No other country comes close, in numbers or percentages. A simple trip to any prison there will enlighten you or anyone about the realities of racism in America, be it from folks like the Aryan Brotherhood or any black

gang-banger. America has how many members in the Klan? To give you an idea of the magnitude, I dare say their numbers alone are greater than all the hill tribes of Thailand added together. America is where the phrase "hate crime" was coined.

Does Thailand have racism? Yes. Do other countries have racism? Yes. But in it's ever-present desire to be world leaders in all arenas, America is by far the most violent in it's racism. Sorry to burst yours and Boon Mee's bubble, but that's the reality. If you doubt it, talk to just about any "person of color" IN america.

  3. Thailand and other S.E. Asian nations are by far much more racist than America.

Americans are, bar none, the most violent about their brand of racism. Good movie regarding same is, "American History X". I highly recommend you watch, if you haven't.

  4. Neighbors used poisoned meat to thin out the herd of assaultive dogs at the last place. Was surprised by this as it's not common here to kill them, but they had had enough of them barking at and chasing their kids. The effect seemed to last too, which was also surprising.

  5. it doesnt take a great leap of the imagination to think that the self-righteous and marginalised, havng arrived at this point of reasoning, could well think that their very own lives could be sacrificed to prove their point

wishing that Bush and his "war on terrorism" folks could fathom this concept...

  6. Needless to say, I will not be using the hotel again, nor will I be recommending it. And I have recommended it a lot in the past.

    Any chance of naming names?

If we follow the normal Thai political tradition of making accusations, the answer would be:

"It's a hotel with the letter "E" in it's name."

    :o

  7. Plagiarism, Harry. By the way when you cut and pasted the Mangosauce article you missed the first line:-
Do you want to teach English and get paid with pretty sea shells and colourful beads?

Please jog my memory. You're...er.... a teacher, aren't you? :D

    Scouse.

LOL @ being busted for plagiarism from mangosauce...... sheesh.... :o

  8. americans are incredibly racist.
Sorry, had to comment here. I guess that is why they always overcharge foreigners for everything? Why they only serve Americans first in a restaurant or a bank queue??

I was agreeing with most everything you were saying, sbk... until this popped up. It's pretty much a given that many, many americans are racist. Those racist practices you describe occur quite regularly.

if they see a Thai girl with a farang most local people assume she is a bargirl.

I'm wondering how accurate/inaccurate this assumption of theirs really is. It'd be an interesting sociological survey to determine exactly what percentage of girls with farang are, in fact, bar girls. If it's over half, then perhaps this assumption is not so inaccurate, yes?

  9. Is there more of this happening or am I just reading more about it?

I will be careful in future about telling my friends how safe Thailand is for Farang women.

May I suggest you do inform your friends, but you can drop "farang" from your report, as it seems to occur to all; as the report I read of another incident in Thailand that occured on the same day about a 13 year old Thai girl that was also raped, and then murdered
