Missing noisy pets.
Especially barking dogs
Funny you should mention that, I was back in the UK last summer and it was one of the things I commented on...you hardly ever hear dogs barking incessantly in the UK...as opposed to here where there is hardly a pause for breath ????

I have a large parcel being sent via DPD, total including shipping is going to be 150 pounds.
Anybody have any idea how much customs charges will be? Or is it a crapshoot?
Anywhere between 20 & 30%
If it is from UK via DPD then it's odds on favourite that Aramex will do the clearing in Bangkok...once you know it's in country (and is being held for duties/taxes to be paid) contact Am...

I use this link, very easy peasy...????
I know the original thread was about doing our 90 day report in person...and not wishing to hijack it too much, but I got my 90 day report Approved online today. I signed up to the app on Android about 6 weeks ago and all went well, a few days ago it I was in the window it allows you to do the report...the app won't even link now! ????
So I thought I'd give the online version a shot...as Khun Per says, easy peasy, I'm using Win 10 and Firefox and didn't have one problem completing the form, and today at about 10am I received an email saying my report was approved ????...anything that reduces my trips to Samui Immigration is well loved ????

If it wasn't for the idiotic rule that you can only by booze between 11am & 2pm it probably wouldn't have been such a scrum down, yes I know you can buy after 5pm, but most normal people don't go shopping on a Sunday after 5pm!

Samui has never accepted too early requests for extension of stay even it officially can be done 30 days before expiry.
It can be done earlier than 30 days, but it has to be for a very valid reason...I renewed mine last year about 6 weeks early because my father had passed away and I needed to be in UK for approx 3 months. This was early July and my renewal isn't due until 28th Aug. I explained what had happened to 'she who must be obeyed' at the desk and she said it could be done, just needed all the usual paperwork plus copy of my flight itinerary.

does anybody really believe this <deleted> ?
the oil price was much lower before OPEC...
In 1960 the price of everything was much lower!!!
QuoteThe Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries is an intergovernmental organization of 14 nations, founded on 14 September 1960 in Baghdad by the first five members, and headquartered since 1965 in Vienna, Austria
I worked in the oil industry and know for a fact that the oil price had to be over $35/barrel to make recovery worthwhile in some fields...that's why oil sands took off when it was 60$/barrel

Confirmed:
The mayor of Koh Samui announced today that the popular island will be effectively sealed off from tomorrow, 7th April until 30th April.I'm hoping this is just for 'travellers' and not food supplies etc...the article itself is very brief and I can't find the source by following the link as it's all in Thai
Just read on the 'other' newspaper that ferry's will continue to supply the island with consumer products, postal services etc

So it’s safe to say that when you get it you are going to put a sign up outside your home to let us know your are infected so we can keep away from you.
The message my wife received yesterday (in Thai) even listed their address (house number included)...so that won't be necessary ????

Just thought if any of you guys knew of the procedure we might be able to act a bit sooner as I know these firms take their time!
Without knowing who's doing the clearance it's fairly difficult to know who to get in touch with.
If you have to have to send stuff in the future use DHL and pay the clearance/duty up front, that way it'll be delivered to the door without being held in Bangkok...or use Royal Mail with tracking and any duty owing can be paid at the Post Office

I sent a parcel to my son who is living on Koh Phangan and on tracking it found out that it is being held at the distribution office awaiting payment but it dosnt say where or how to make the payment??
It depends on how you sent it, if it was sent thru regular mail (Royal Mail UK?) then you have to go to the post office and pay the duty...but you will first receive a invoice delivered by the postman stating how much duty is to be paid.
If one the other hand it was sent by courier it will be held in Bangkok until the duty is paid. If you are in UK and sent it by DPD it will be handled by Aramex here...if so send me a PM and I'll send you the contact details of the lady who looks after it

By the way everybody entering the immigration need to have a mask - maybe a bit late to get that info when u arrive and do not have a mask.
That's new, I was there yesterday (along with quite a few others that have already posted on here by the look of things) and there was no requirement for a mask then (although I did have one myself...where's the 'smug' emoji when you need it?!?)

I have the Bangkok Airways resident card (renewed two weeks ago), I don't have either the Pink ID with a Koh Samui address or a Yellow Tambien Baan with a Koh Samui address, I just used my retirement visa/extension of stay...in fact I didn't even go to the office, my wife did it.

Samui IO accept it (Bangkok Bank USD FCA) and have done for at least the last five years

To be honest I find dogs barking/yapping more annoying, at least a noisy bike will be out of earshot in a few seconds...whereas a bl00dy dog will go on for hours ????

At the moment it's just been postponed
QuoteAs the global outbreak of coronavirus continues to develop, the Thai government has communicated that it won’t be possible to hold the OR Thailand Grand Prix on its original date. The FIM, IRTA and Dorna therefore regret to announce that the event, due to be held on the 22nd of March in Buriram, has been postponed.

It is regulated in the modern world...but because the Thai Tobacco Monopoly decided they didn't like competition they got the government to ban it. Fact, vaping is 95% better for your health than smoking regular cigarettes...it's all about the money Buttercup ????
