As far as I am aware it does not. To qualify, you must meet the minimum points requirement, which is 50. Otherwise SB will not even forward your application to the MOI. However, when passing on your documents (at least in the past when I applied) no mention is even made to your score. Also, I do not believe that the MOI interviewers run through each of the points categories when they interview. They certainly did not in my case. In the second interview I had with them (long story), they were barely able to get a word in edgeways. I believe that the interview is intended to get a better sense of you as a person and to make sure there are no red flags to granting you citizenship.

In the MOI interview (I got mine few months ago) they introduced applicants to the panel on the microphone by telling a number of facts that included monthly salary and how many points were scored in the application process.

Just a quick update , Already got my ID in hand, managed to get the documents for SB and the Khet luckily didn't give me too much trouble ???? however this is not the usual case, the papers at SB 99% of the time take 2 weeks to complete and the Khet usually gives appointments around 9-14 days from when you submit your papers to make an ID card.

Good luck to everyone else in process

    Congrats.

  3. Step closer today, yellow book and a pink id card at last.

Few questions for anyone with prior experience on these matters.

    1) Points for salary, read conflicting information on calculation.
Assuming last calendar year was on one rate, part way through this year increased.
Can I base on currently monthly rate? Or this year average? Or last year tax report average?

    2) Had an immigration official mention that if cases are equal, service towards Thailand (eg. volunteering/charity work) push cases along faster.
Not entirely sure if this referred to citizenship or PR, already got some under the belt but curious whether this fits past applications or not.

    3) Points for time on yellow book, seen mention that some have got the max 5 points (without PR) for less than 5 years on yellowbook.
Any experience, if so, how long were you on?

    1) latest annual tax paid divided by 12 was the reference in my application

    2) no idea, but I feel whoever you are there should be a 2 year incompressible processing time on the current 3-4 years average timeline

    3) From what I read in this forum, I think no recent applicant on yellow book was given the 5 points

Does anyone know if I can get an endorsement and multiple re-entry with only one month validity in my passport

Why don't you wait for the new passport? (since you need a new one to use these re-entry...). One side question being: does one have to pay to transfer the re-entry from an expired passport to the new one? I don't remember the answer I read on this topic some years ago, maybe someone can refresh our mind on this.

  5. Everything is processed in batches (interviewed people approved by the committee, files sent to the Prime Minister, files sent to the Palace, people approved back to SB) and I believe they are grouped by 3-4 months each. Assuming SB does the same for the oath, it’s easy to see that for some the fluctuation is already several months longer or shorter depending when you stand. Also, since each case is unique and it’s not a first-in first-out process, every time you miss a batch in any of these steps is adding extra months to your timeline.

my understanding is that it is official when your name is published in the RG. At that point, you could refer any immigration officers to the RG as proof of citizenship.

It doesn't seem so. The RG announcements I've seen end with "ผู้ที่กล่าวชื่อมาแล้วนั้นได้รับการอนุญาตให้แปลงสัญชาติ" which doesn't say that you're Thai citizen but rather that you're entitled to change your citizenship. To me, proof of citizenship comes later when you complete the process (likely close to when you get the ID card). Just my view.

i am observing MOI from last 1 year and meeting held always on Last Friday every month.
July 2019 was on Last Tuesday.

No exactly. 6 months ago it used to be in the middle of the month. Remember you posted in March: "2019 First meeting was on 18 Jan and 2nd was on 15 Feb 2019 and 3rd was on 14 March" (this one being a Thursday). So frequently on a Friday -but not always- and only very recently handled at the end of the month.

If you search, Arkady gave the name that the letter should be addressed to. I forget what it was.

My advice to new applicants: since a part of what's requested will depend on the officer who's assigned to your case, do nothing, just go with the standard documents (PR, WP, Tabian Baan, mariage cert...) to SB and let that person pass you the complete list of requirements at stage 1 (bank letter could be stage 2 in a way 'cos you'll have several visits to SB). Remember: some people in this forum came with nothing and could get their SB meeting scheduled in just few weeks. In my case, I prepared everything (including the bank statement following what Arkady mentioned) and... I was requested some other stuff or changes (each case is different) later. Believe it or not but I had all documents almost ready day one and it took 4.5 months to schedule my SB interview. My assumption is then that they prefer you let them do their job -which is understandable- rather than come in as Mister-who-knows-everything, and perhaps that's a reason why they removed the application documents that were once available for download on SB Website.

In contrast, there is no quota for citizenship and Special Branch is open to accept applications every working day of the year.

True. However we'll agree that in practice having a monthly interview at the Ministry of Interior for a max capacity of approx 30 citizenship applicants each maintains a queuing backlog and eventually acts as a virtual quota of 360 granted per year.

For those who already obtained their Thai IDs, how long did it take after taking the oath? I was told it would take about 3 to 4 months when I took my oath. The captain emphasized "ABOUT" ???? . My WP and Visa are due to expire in 4 months time. I'm hoping I can avoid having to go to immigration this year.  The captain's emphasis on about makes me think it could 3, 4, or 5 months or even longer.  It would be great to hear from the naturalized Thais on this. Thanks!

From facts I gathered in this forum: oath-to-ID seems to have taken 5-7 months recently (4-5 months for publication to the Royal Gazette plus 1-2 months to complete and get the ID).

Time Period starts when your documents send to MOI [...] normally we heard 18 to 22 months wait.

Not by my calculation. From applicants who reported recently I have 14 months on average (this is an average, for the range I get [6-22] months). Funnily, I'm at 14 months exactly after my documents were sent, and waiting for MOI.

Now if you're right, one thing could explain that and it would be that several persons who reported the 5-9 months waiting time could actually be female applicants, while those who were on the 15-22 interval would be male applicants. Not sure about that but it's a possibility - aliases do not always tell who's behind.

Any updates lately ? seems like things have slowed down due to the coronation ceremony , file has been at the Royal department for 2-3 months now and still no word, from my understanding there's no way of knowing how long it will take , could take a month, could take a year and i guess the only way to find out is when they release the royal gazette with new citizens names? correct me if im wrong.

Before RG you have to go though the oath. I guess this is your next step -and way to know things are progressing-.
