  1. Most of my memory of Kloster has been covered here. The trick was to check the brew date and refuse anything over 3 months old.

    A story about Singha gold. When it was released the marketing strategy was as a light beer catering to young fit males. They used male models on the beach in their speedos in the advertising  There after it was known as a beer drank by gays much to the annoyance of my friend who drank it.

  2. Agree with this advice. I have had numerous guitars shipped in a strong cardboard box wrapped with plenty of bubble wrap via postal services. Never a problem. If the guitar is rare or expensive I would consider buying a hard case as they are cheap enough here

  3. Trump picked a fight with a 72 year old Scottish female and lost. You really think he will take on bloodthirsty Mullahs who have sworn death to all Americans

    Another problem is he has alienated most of Americas ally's. Can't see the Germans or French etc backing him up militarily or politically. Of course the Brits will as they will need all the friends they can get soon Perhaps the plan is to let the Saudis fight the war. America does not even have a UN ambassador.

    Was the 150 casualty estimate Iranians or Americans?

  4. My example came from a USA standards building book. Unfortunately we are constructing in Thailand.

    In my option the beam and post system in Thailand is over engineered.

    Roof weight is to me the most important factor. A house using CP Monier tiles has the same beam and pillar dimension design as a house using Ayara tiles even though it is 1/3 the weight.

    As previously mentioned by a poster, anything outside the 200 x 200mm post and 200x400mm spans for a 4 meter square modular building system will not be easily followed by the average Thai builder.

    I have a 7 meter concrete span in my house. it is 400x400mm post and 400x800mm beam. The beam is a tie in only with no load above. Calculated by a Thai structural engineer.

  5. Calculation for 6 meter span. Depends on grade of concrete and steel reinforcement used. Also not Thailand building regulations

    For simply supported beams, L/d = 20, as per IS 456–2000

    So, depth d = L/20 = 6000mm/20 = 300mm

    This should also be not more than 1/4 th of the clear span, as per IS 13920–2016

    d= 1/4*6000 = 1500mm

    Hence depth can be taken as d = 300mm

    b/d ratio of beam should preferably be more than 0.3, as per IS 13920–2016

    So b/d = 0.3

    b = 0.3d = 0.3*300 = 90 mm

    But width should not be less than 200mm, as per IS 13920–2016

    So take width b = 200mm

  6. Remember Kloster well.

    It was brewed by Thai Amarit Brewery until 2002. I then thought it disappeared but it was then brewed by Inbev. According to Wikipedia and a craft beer website it is still brewed and available in Thailand.

  7. Just FYI I tried to send documents to a PO box in UK via couriers from Thailand and none would accept them. The problem with EMS is the UK end will not deliver to PO Box's

    As one member suggests contact co. for different shipping method. My bank accepted docs. by fax.

  8. Was curious  to try and find the earth wire attached to the heater even knowing it was white. Can not see. You can trace the factory installed earth from pressure switch  to element to terminal block but there it ends.

    Also the inlet wire clamp is undone. At the top of heater near the element it says "this appliance must be earthed.

  9. I noticed in the advert for a new condo project in Bangkok (not build yet) that units will come with a hotel license so rentals below 30 days will be legal. I wonder if this will become the norm for new condos now. Obviously they think the buy to rent market will be bigger than the buying a home to actually live in. I would not want to live in a condo with a constant stream of strangers around.

  10. My wife called True regarding getting new remotes as ours are failing (again). True told my wife about C band KU band and changing LNB to receive signal after August and to make appointment to do the work, When the guys came they had a box the size of your hand. They went to the dish then opened the  set top box. Then downloaded the new software. It was free of charge and appears no change in programming. Checking signal origins it now says Thaicom 8.

  11. As I am sure all True Vision customers will be aware True satellite signal is moving from the C band to KU band in August. This involves a different LNB. I just had the work done today and it was a 1 hour job plus 20 minutes to download the new software. I would not leave it to the last minute to change.
