  1. "...they were forced to go to the Pattaya police to report it. "

TIT...where you go to the police to report that someone ripped you off while you were attempting to break the law.

Lesson learned...Go directly to the top when making a payoff to skirt the law. Don't ever use a  middle man. Even if he is telling you the truth, it will cost you more, since he then has to pay off the higher ups.

  2. "...stimulus project will spur growth in tourism and generate over 15.5 billion baht to help salvage the sector from the Covid 19-induced slump."

All this does is move the already limited funds to a different sector. The only way the country as a whole increases revenue is from tourists bringing money in from the outside. Any increase in employment in the tourism sector will be met with loss of jobs from another sector.

  3. "Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is CALLING on administrative organisations as well as military and police officers to help..."

This is why nothing gets accomplished in Thailand. Any other totalitarian regime would DEMAND that all administration organizations and governmental departments get involved…Or Else!!! We’ve already seen how effective ASKING drivers to obey traffic laws works. Expect nothing to change, and hope at least some of those folks affected by the floods know how to swim.

  4. "The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, attaches great importance to Thailand’s COVID-19 vaccine development and production, so that Thai people will have a safe and effective vaccine as soon as possible."

Right after it becomes a world nuclear submarine power.

  5. "It has also asked the public to refrain from burning in open spaces."

    "Asked"?!!!

That seems to be a tried and true method to get the populace to be responsible (If you have noticed, the death toll on the roads are hovering around zero, after years of asking). Up here in the Mahongson Province, the mountainsides are burning all day and night. Just about everyone has  a smoldering fire in the morning. And to add to all of this, some idiot decided to build a charcoal manufacturing operation next to the residential area. Fortunately, most of the expats can afford to leave the area until the rains start, leaving the local folk who are "asked" not burn to suffer the health consequences of their ignorance and greed.

  6. "Thailand would have to depend on employing foreign workers in these industries because the country is embarking on an aged society ..."

And..It is statements like this that reflect the real problem. It has nothing to do with an aged society. It is an UNEDUCATED society that is not prepared to support industries outside of traditional agriculture and unskilled piece work.

Instead of fabricating lame excuses for industrial failures, what is needed is a revamping of the traditional education system that will place achievement by any student above the mediocre performances of children from important families. It would also benefit if industrial institutions would train their students to be skilled craftsmen instead of murdering thugs.

  7. "People who produce pornography of young people aged under 18 for sale whether it be in the country or for export will face a fine up to 140,000 baht and/or a jail term up to seven years."

How about the people in possession of the young people themselves under 18 for domestic sale or export? Or the Parents who sell them? Or the brokers who act as middle men?

This looks good on paper and I am not criticizing the legislature in promoting this bill. However, without an effective governmental enforcement agency, this might result in little more than a public relations promotion that appeases international organization who target Thailand and other countries in the region where this trade is common.

As it stands now, sex tourism is the one thing TAT can count on, no matter what the economy is in the West or the East. Sort of ironic that the only accurate statistics they might be in possession of cannot be published and used as a baseline to demonstrate success in the future for stopping this trade.

"Over 56 percent of married Thais of all sexes who responded to a Match.com survey admitted to committing adultery..."

Thailand also came in first for having 44% of its people lying when taking surveys. alt=giggle.gif>

And 68% think corruption is normal.

It's only 68% because the other 32% are too busy in their corrupt activities to answer the survey.
