This will be the fastest mull in Thai history. Just the words "unspent billions" will create huge excitement within the political and administration circles and a rush to find innovative ways to make it disappear without trace.
To a Thai politician the term "Unspent billions" works a hundred times faster than Viagra, and with a hundred times the potency.

The problem is the existing organic farmers have been caught cheating using high levels of poisons over and over. Before expanding the program they need to figure out how to fix this problem, implement it, and prove it is effective. As a consumer I don't trust the organic labels due to the rampant cheating. I wish they would get more serious about this problem so I could.
Not to worry. They will get to it just as soon as they solve the increasing road carnage problem.

"ACFS secretary-general Juadee Pongmaneerat notes that young smart famers have an important role to play in helping government meet its goals of expanding the organic market..."
Each country has its own standards in the certifying of produce as "Organic". Below is an example of one western country. Seriously, does anyone believe that these standards will be adhered to in Thailand, and that there won't be payoffs in order to label chemical laden crops as "Organic"?
"Farmers must be able to prove that no prohibited substances, such as synthetic fertilizers, sewage solids, insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides, have been applied to the land and that no genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have been grown during the previous three years. If that is not the case, the farm will remain uncertified until the full 36 month waiting period has been satisfied. This waiting period is important as many synthetic substances remain in the soil and in perennial plants for months or even years, and may end up in the food being harvested during that period. After 12 months of qualifying waiting period, farmers may soon be able to market their products as “transitional,” signifying they are meeting all the requirements for certification except the time since last prohibited substance use.
To maintain organic certification, every certified organic farm or facility must go through a review and inspection process every year. They must keep good records, and have those records available for inspectors."

“Vans are dangerous and cause five times more accidents than buses,”
The only reason is that there are five times more vans on the road than there are micro buses.
So, he thinks that having incompetent, drunk, and over worked van drivers switching to driving a larger vehicle, without proper training (or in most cases, no training at all) will make things safer? You cannot make up this kind of stupid. Let the carnage begin!!!

"Anti-alcohol campaigners, including some 30 members of youth networks, called on Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt-General Sutthipong Wongpin to check on shops in Bang Sue district’s Soi Wongsawang 11 that are allegedly selling booze to youths under the age of 20."
The police can add that task to their checking for underage motorbike drivers and helmets in front of schools, excess speeding, drunk driving, smoking in public places, etc. How difficult is it to ignore one more of their responsibilities?
The only positive that might come about is a better way to learn mathematics: "Yesterday there were 41 students in this class. Somchai and three of his classmates got drunk, piled onto one motorbike, drove too fast, and all of them got killed. How many students are in class today?"
Odds are Somchai was the smartest one in the class, and without him to tell the others the correct answer, they will never figure it out by themselves.

Must have been a novice, if he wasn't in conversation on the latest iPhone with a "follower", and talking about how he was going to help her reach enlightenment this weekend.

"A specialist with the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand has sought to calm fears that Asteroid 2006 QQ23, which is double the height of Baiyoke II Tower in Bangkok, would hit Planet Earth on Saturday."
This is his last observation, using his Tesco Lotus purchased telescope (On sale due to a slight flaw -Images might appear closer than they actually are). He emailed Mauna Kea Observatory, just in case they were not aware of the impending doom.

"She said it was in motion and should materialise before the end of this year."
This is Thailand, and the distance between "should materialize" and "will materialize" is a galaxy apart. You know, like...A fairly elected and non corrupt government "should have" been in place years ago.

She said it was in motion and should materialise before the end of this year.

"Many of the public primary schools will start teaching coding..."
It's a good thing they've trained the schools to do the teaching, because they surely haven't taught enough teachers to do the job. It should take no time at all before the student's coding ability catches up to their English proficiency.

Still got a long way to go on the new innovations category.

"...did not believe that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, will be able to guide Thailand into the future..."
It will be impossible for anyone to guide Thailand towards the future, when it is lagging behind, trying to catch up with what advanced nations' consider the past.

Many of the Thais "educated" here are easily dumbfounded.or...Just plain dumb.
It's not that the general populace lacks the ability to be intelligent. However, the "educational system" conditions students to accept anything that is taught to them without question. Grades are handed out in a manner, so no one loses face. 'Cheating" in not an infraction. It's dismissed as being communal sharing.
I have met a number of Thais who have been granted Masters Degrees, but are unable to figure out simple fractions and percentages, which any 4th grader in the west could rattle off in their heads.

“For every dollar the state earns from marijuana tax, Colorado residents pay $4.5 [Bt138.5] to solve problems from marijuana,” Thira added.
"He said findings also revealed that many students dropped out of school because of addiction to marijuana..."
What is his source for the first statement? What does he consider a "problem"? Obviously not hospitalization, since there is no universal healthcare in Colorado. Not violence. Since the number of crimes committed to get money to pay for marijuana, hovers around zero. Not gang related activities. Since since marijuana is legal.
Marijuana is not addictive. There are no withdrawal symptoms. One does not need to increase "dosage" in order to experience the same effects.
Sounds like he got his information from Somchai, the "village know it all idiot", and not from any reputable scientific publication.

"...many students used to dislike learning English because they were embarrassed by making mistakes."
The best these students might hope for is to be able to use their acquired English skills while performing as a mime.
Many, if not most Thais are embarrassed to make a mistake because the culture considers that losing face. Teachers are pressured to give high grades which do not reflect the students' performance. A low grade would not only cause the student to lose face, but would be a reflection on that student's family.

Is this the same strict enforcement that has led to the yearly increase and record number of road fatalities during Songkran?

"...will negatively affect durian exports to China and suppress the price of the fruit."
This has to be the epitome of irony. The desire for durian by Chinese tourists, and their willingness to pay any price for the fruit, has doubled, and in some areas of Thailand tripled its price, thus making it unaffordable for many Thais. The outcome of GMP might be that the average Chinese can afford to buy it in China. However, the Chinese tourists will still be willing to pay the high price when visiting Thailand, and the average Thai might never be able to afford to buy it again, other than for very special occasions.

"He explained that an average of 20 million people buy lottery tickets every two weeks, but only 20,000 of them win..."
It's called "GAMBLING", and the house always wins in the end. If it isn't the lottery, they will bet on something else. Just about everyone in this part of the world is addicted due to the common belief that good luck will eventually fall their way. The one saving grace the lottery has for the gamblers is that they pay up front with money they have in hand. Yes, that money could be used to support a family if not wasted on the lottery, but at least they won't get their legs broken if they can't come up with the money to pay off their losses to professional gambling thugs (vs. governmental thugs).

"SEVERAL SUPPLEMENTS that claim to help with weight loss or sexual potency and distributed via popular online platforms contain dangerous drugs..."
Even if these supplements are taken off the public market, they will still be in demand on the black market. Many, if not most people, are attracted to promises of desired results, with no effort or sacrifice on their part. Just pop a pill and be transformed into that thin, white, strong, well endowed, etc. perfect god or goddess. Suckers are born every minute, and there is always someone waiting to cash in on their low self-esteem, dissatisfaction and desperation.

Army to auction dogs that failed commission tests
in Thailand News
Posted
"The Royal Army Veterinary Corps will auction off 15 puppies and 66 adult dogs that failed to meet the criteria for recruitment to be trained as military..."
I'm sure if they weren't so hard up, there would be more soldiers failing to meet the requirements, and the bids definitely would be much lower than what is going to be bid for the dogs.
