Its not a simple google that's why I'm here, Cant even find a photo of the black gunge over an expansion valve and that's crazy as every unit I have ever seen is sprayed with the bloody stuff ????
-
Is there any retired air conditioning engineers out there or a competent DIY air-con hero ? My question is this , What is the black sticky substance they put on the expansion valve ? Also what is the point of putting that gunge on it and is it really necessary , The reason I ask is I am fitting a replacement unit in my van but it has no black gunge on the expansion valve its just shiny copper. Thanks for any help you can give.

Soon the Thais will realize there's good money to be made offering a fake covid passport under the table, Then those not wishing to take the vaccine will have the choice .

Once they start pumping these vaccines into the population then we will see the death rate from covid go up.

How many prefer it as it is ? Personally I much prefer Pattaya as it is now its more like it was 25 years ago when you could park anywhere and not have the bother of the masses , I feel much more relaxed now.

Almost everyone will agreee? Really? This forum is the worst at complaining “ lockdown is ineffective” “ lockdown kills the economy” “ lockdown as a cure is worse than the disease”. I think TV only EXISTS to offer a platform for counter opinions. !!
Theres no other forum in the world that talks so much <deleted> as Thaivisa . Thats the bottom line .

Sorry for the late reply HauptmannUK I somehow missed this post , Yes what you say makes scene, I may or may not hold on to it I haven't even driven it on the road yet , I do like the look of it but I'm not a lover of all this complicated technology crammed onto an engine in order to save a baht on fuel costs , At the end of the day what you save on fuel you pay back to the dealer for repairs on crazy things like having to remove the complete gearbox to replace a clutch slave cylinder that some bright spark of a designer thinks its a good idea to put it on the inside ! Makes the job an expensive time consuming load of nonsense compared to the removal of two 12mm bolts and one pipe connection of the older type of truck .

Its not clear if you are proposing to buy a new or used BT50.
A new BT50 is due to launch soon and is basically a Isuzu D-Max with mostly superficial changes. It has no relationship at all to any previous BT50.
BT50's to date were built at a joint Ford/Mazda plant and use Ford 'Duratorq' TCDI Diesel engines and underpinnings - shared with the Ranger.
The Duratorq engines have been in Ford products since around 2003-4. They are a mixed picture reliability wise. The earlier engines had a lot of problems with the fuel system, but those problems have largely been ironed out now. At the end of the day it is still a Ford product and does not achieve the reliability or durability of Toyota.
Its a complicated story but in a nutshell I have acquired a 2013 2.2 2x4 manual from a friend who no longer lives in the country and will not be returning , I don't really know what the future holds for it as I already have a Toyota Mighty x that I will take to the grave but for the time being I'm gathering information on the engine due to its complexity compared to the old school Mighty x.

Thanks for the comments , They seem to be holding up ok , Theres so much talk around at the oil pump having problems but we always hear about cars problems but seldom hear from satisfied customers ,
Ignis am I right in thinking your BT50 made 300.000kms ?

I have been looking for information about the Mazda BT50 on this forum but all I can find is a now closed thread from 2014, There were some problems with the trucks back then and there brother truck the Ford Ranger but they were relatively new back then with little kms on them , What I am wondering is how the trucks are holding up now in 2020 ! Has anybody got an old BT50 with 100,000 + kms on it ? Did any of them make it to 100,000 kms ? There seems to be plenty of old ones on the road.

Does anyone know if you can buy after market spare parts for the Mazda BT50 ? I know you can for Toyota and Mitsubishi but Im told Mazda is like Honda and when need spare parts you can only go to the Mazda main dealer ?
-
Thank you that's what I've been looking for any chance of a link to it ? Miss the old TV layout it was so easy to find everything .

Dont confuse a 24/7 Curfew with what you would expect elsewhere , The Thai police and military have no empathy for the people , They have the guns , This aint no namby pamby nappy wiping country , The military Rule you do or you die .

Yes going back to the dark ages is our only way forward in many areas of life now . ????

Its about time we went back to the old way of selling things here , Looking at the last 20 car and truck adverts some with 6,000 views there's not one that has been replied to ! Is this progress ? The old Thaivisa way of selling cars and bikes was a sure thing , Shame its come to this .

Something has changed with the prefix as 009 and 001 now both have the message lines are busy try again later , now the prefix is 004 ?
-
I'm trying with mobile phone with True and using the 009 prefix as I always have , I don't know what the other three people are trying to call with but there is four of us in different parts of Thailand with the problem , the two messages we get are . destination number unavailable and . the lines are busy . I am not doing anything different to what I have done for many years therefore I still think there is some problem with certain lines from Thailand to the UK .

Right, Thank you that's an informative link , seems like its to stop condensation and insulate the valve, Dont know why they don't just cover it with foam like the rest of the pipework, My guess is it may get very hot,
