  1. Well, Take NSAID is better then.

Arcoxia or celebrex are COX2 inhibitor.

They help to reduce the pain by inbihiting the inflammation process, are very good for muscle, bone and joint pain.

It is not recommended to take this tablets regular sue to the liver side effect.

Myonal is a muscle relaxant which is quite good. You might need to take some with you in case it is just muscle strain and no need for those strong cox2 inhibitor.

I do not think you need tramadol.

    Good Luck

  2. I would recommend Microlife models.

They have various type of Blood Pressure monitoring machine.

Start from one touch with one memory = 1900B ( BP AQ1)

    30 memmories = 2500B (BPAQ1 30 mem)

    100 memories = 3400B ( BP A100)

all of them have irregular pulse detection.

Free AC adaptor and 4 AA battery

    3 years warantee.

You may find them at any big chemist.

I am sure at any chemist at Big C /Tesco there have them just higher price.

  3. keep us posted in a fortnight, whatever that is (2.5 weeks?) my dilemma is whether to stay hyper or go hypo..choose your poison! signed: kick yet

Ok, just saw a different doctor today at the same hospital. He sort of checked me over and then prescribed three 'Tapazole' tablets a day along with one Betalol morning and evening. No side affects and actually feel pretty good.

    Go back in a month.

    Thnx

    Hi,

Hypo-hyperthyroid is not a complicated condition but can be mess up easy if you do not becareful with the medication/change dosage to often.

If it was me, I would try to stay with one doctor so that he/she can see the progression on the treatment from the start.

Tapozole is methimazole,as you know antithyroid medication, which sometimes could have side effect with hematopoesis( Blood producing system).

It is recommended to check your blood count from time to time since you will be on the treatment, I would say, about 2 yeears.

Betalol, Beta Blocker, Is only help the symptom of palpitation. If you pulse rate is not to high( <80 bpm) nd you DO NOT feel palpitate. there is no need to take it. However discuss with your doctor before making any change. If you have palpitation, make sure it is not atrial fibrillation ( AF).

    Good luck

  4. If you are living in Sisaket why can't you help the kid. Your English is obviously good and I presume English is your first language.

No, English is not my mother language and No, Mr and Mrs PMNL are not in SSK.

It is very hard to find an English teacher there.Cant believe it.

Since my brother is studying at the aforementioned school and he is taking some extra- classes at the same time.

Travel to Sompoi would not be good idea for now. I was expecting to find one of the teachers from his school or someone who lives nearby just to spend a few hours a week talking to him, get him to read simple article in Engliah out loud, just to practice converstion.

    Any one out there?

  5. Where in Utumporn Pisai you are? Near Sompoi?

    Do you know Kamphaeng school??

Myself and My brother used to study there.

It is a district school and as far as I know, there is no English teacher.

I know the teachers there very well and they have English teachers.

Wouldnt it be great if you can go there a few times a week to talk to them??

Back home in CNX, I know quite a few generous farangs who are on their 60-70's go to teach the young monks 4 days of the week.

They are retiree so they are really happy to have something to do, something good and valuable to the poor kids.

I wish there is someone like that in Isaan, specially Sisaket, to give out an apportunity to those poor little kids.

    Back To Topic

    Is there anyone in Sisaket?

  6. Why don't you hang out at the school at closing time and following the farang teachers to wherever they go to have a beer or something after work... there almost always is a favorite watering hole for the teachers' wind down. Maybe offer to buy one of the teachers a beer or 2 if he/she would spend a little time with your brother. At 16, they should let him in the bar to have a Coke.

Odds are of the 10 or now 11 who read your post none of them are from SiSaket-- just curiosity.

Thank you for your suggestion. I would talk to him myself if I was there.

Sisaket is a small town but there must be someone out there available for this.

  7. Hi all,

I have a brother there in Sisaket Wittayalai school whose english knowledge is pretty good but lack of practice and is very shy to speak it out.

I've heard there are lots of English teachers at the school this year.

Is there any British or American teacher there would like to work a few hours a week?

    Please contact me : 0835797857

    Thanks in advance

  8. Have you try to contact shevron?

As far as I know, they have one dcotor work offshore.

To be honest not sure at all if they need the thai licensed MD.

Could be a good choice for him.

I do not think the emergency doctor would like to sit and discuss the treatment options but needs to take action.

Sorry can not be more helpful.

  9. You can get it done at any big name hospital like Bangkok, Bumrungrad and so on but a bit pricy.

If you prefer to have it done with reasonable price then contact the local gynecology clinic near by and request for the vaccine.

The doctor can order from the drug rep in ust a few days.

  10. Item 2= Prenolol 100 mg ( Berlin)

    Item 5= Amlopine 10 mg ( Berlin)

The other two, not sure about the local made.

    >> off Topic<<

Why do you take 62 mg of HCTZ?

The pill is very simple, inexpensive but work well for Hypertension.

However the dose is 25 mg a day.

There is a study revealed 25 mg is as effective as 50 mg.

There is nothing wrong to take that much but it seems to be wasted.

  11. What is an Eyelid Twitch?

It's actually called Blepharospasm which is a symptom of involuntary and uncontrollable movements in the muscles around a person's eyes which in turn make them appear like 'blinking non-stop' to other people.

In certain cases, this may be caused by myasthenia (muscular weakness) in the eyes organ as a result of stresses, overstraining of the eyes, lacks of sleeps, the serious lacks of certain nutrients / minerals to support the normal functionings / movements of your eyelid

    muscles etc.

Next, in the case whereby no stress, any kinds of infections, overstraining of the eyes etc are involved whilst the eyelids and the entire organs just look superficially normal and ok, and at the same time, the eyelid-twitching / eye-blinking just get 'unexplainedly' from bad to worse from time to time, such medical scenarios could actually be caused by other neuromuscular disorders which are much more complicated.

And in terms of such neuromuscular disorders, they may arise as a neurological / Tardive Dyskinesia side effect of certain medications, especially the powerful mind-altering tranquilizers of antipsychotics / neuroleptics, particularly when such medications are over-relied on to the point of sheer abuse.

In such a connection, please consider the following excerpts : -

    "Chlorpromazine side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop taking chlorpromazine and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

twitching or uncontrollable movements of your eyes, lips, tongue, face, arms, or legs;" (Symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia)

which are quoted from the website :

    http://www.drugs.com/mtm/chlorpromazine.html

    Other Related Information :

Never seen MG with eyes twitch but Ptosis ( Upper eyelid drop).

The MG normally cause generalized weakness of the muscle due to the blockage of neuro transmission.

  12. The final active matablite of Firide is axactly the same as Proscar. (polymorphic form 1)

Harifin-5 does not. The efficacy ,then, is definitely big different.

    Harifin-5 made by T.O. Pharmacy.

    Firide made by Siam Pharmaceutical.

Siam Pharmaceutical is so far the top pharmaceutical company in Thailand.

Dont get me wrong, I have nothing to do with them but I would choose them the first choice if I have to take generic.

They best products are antibiotics but cardiovascular med and the firide are also much better than the others.

Berlin is another drug maker. They are good at cardiovascular medication.

T.O. products have very inexpensive price that is why it is used in SS insurrance and Government insurance( Gold Card/30 Baht Card)

The governmant pay about 1500-2000 per head per year for SSI and Gold Card. No way they will give anything like Firide/proscar.

The firide 3*10's tabs cost 800-900 baht which is used for one month. You know what I am trying to say?

I did not mean the GC and SSI are not good but sometimes they try to safe cost too much and it turns out substandard.

    >> Back to topic<<<

Firide is a copy of proscar. Hirifin-5 is similar to proscar.

It is your choice to choose which one you would like to invest in your health.

  13. Hi there, I suffer from lupus and I take a variety of meds to supress the symptoms and for pain relief. I am wondering if they are cheaper in thailand (and for sale legally) and if so if I can get a larger supply. OR if I need to carry them into Thailand with a special drs note etc. I suspect I can;t take endone, or the stronger oxycodone that my dr sometimes supplies. I don;t want to take ANY risks. so please let me know of other treatments there for severe pain (not NSAIDS they don;t work on me).

    The meds are

Plaquenil (anti malarial), >>Yes They have it it Thailand but more expensive coz they are imported.

Endone (pain) , Pendil (circulation) >>>> as far as I know , it is not available here. You can not get anything codeine here unless precribed by the doc. It is better you get a letter from your physician and get some of this strong pain meds with you just in case.

Cymbalta (anti=dpressant that helps with pain), >>> Available but expensive

and methotrexate (oral chemotherapy) >>> Available and reasonable price

    thanks! x

My advise would be : bring all the tablets with you.

    Good Luck.

  14. Hep A is very good to get it for your kids.

there is a few different kind of HAV vaccine for different age group.

For example Avaxin 80u pediatric is suitable for the 3 of your.

Thyphoid is not really the must but you may follow your doc advise.

The two vaccines are not in the normal recommendation for thai kids according to the Health department and Pediatric infectious disease society.
