Gambling to the rescue! Anything to save the economy!
Anything, except eradicating systemic corruption in government, industry and society, nepotism and bribery spawning inept decision makers who compound failure...
Yes, gambling is much easier to implement than changing ones nature, but... once established and integrated into a corrupt system, gambling won't do much to help the economy, it will help certain individuals who control, legislate and cover up. Then something else will have to save the economy, again, and be corrupted, again.
You will run out of things to pin your hope on! And then what? A war? With those Generals?
