  1. I had this same package installed a month ago, and have had nothing but trouble with it. Since they installed it, it takes at least an hour, sometimes 2, before i get any signal on my tv. The so called hi speed internet is actually slower than the one I had with TOT. I was originally paying 1,900 baht a month for my TV service, I now pay 2,500 baht for the new package, which was supposed to include my landline telephone, as well as i think 200 minutes free calls a month on my mobile (they gave me my new sim, on the day they installed everything). But low and behold I recieved a bill from a company called CAT, for the monthly rental of my new landline number, and a bill for 2 calls made on the landline. My wife has been calling them everyday for the last 2 weeks to get someone to come out and repair the connection, but all we get is "we check for you, and will call back" but so far no call back. So yesterday she informed them that we won't be paying the bill, and want it all taken out, so we now wait to see what happens.

  2. Amvet, Trump himself admitted lying under oath, when he was taken to court when he was accused of discriminating about letting properties to people, he said he had never stopped black people from renting property from him, but when confronted with written evidence,i.e. correspondence with his staff, that no black people can rent property. he admitted he may have been wrong in the evidence that he gave in court, and he was fined for making a false statement. they were told to tick a box marked "C" if any coloured people applied for a property, "C" standing for coloured, and they immediately rejected.

  3. As a Brit, I have never really followed American politics(god knows we have enough problems of our own). But these days I find myself switching on the TV in the morning just to see what Trump has tweeted overnight. I have to say I have been alive in the times of a few presidents, the first i really remember was i suppose Nixon because of the scandal.

But I have to say in all honesty I have never heard any of them speak in the way Trump does. He is so infantile, he is 71 going on 17. He is the typical schoolyard bully. He insults Mcain, who suffered so many years of torture, yet there was no chance of Trump being taken POW, he was to chicken to go and serve his country, getting 5 deferements. He says that the NFL players are disrespecting the military and the country, well isn't running away from military service doing the same, and then bragging that instead of dodging bullets in Vietnam, he was dodging VD in New York.

He brags all the time about his family, but I think the first thing he taught his kids from the minute they could speak was, never tell the truth, lie as often as you can, and eventually some idiots will believe it. I am sure that is what he was taught by his father. He liked to brag on the campaign trail about how rich he was, I wonder if he ever thought about paying back all the small contractors who he forced into bankruptcy, when he refused to pay them for work they did for him.

I could go on for hours, but I guess as a brit I will get loads of stick for this post. I can understand Americans not wanting to vote for Clinton, but surely there was a better alternative somewhere. And yet I would bet my house that he gets electe again in 2020.

  4. Weren't these the same people that took over the Pattaya one also. They turned it into something called the Acorn. It lasted just a few months as well, the prices supposedly sky high. And now the same thing in Jomtien. I thought the biggest mistake they made was letting Stuart go, as last I heard he was doing very well in Frasers. And I don't know how true it is, but I also heard that they have bought the Sportsmans on soi 13, if so lets hope the do a better job there.

  5. manxninja, big ureself up man, it was only last week on a topic about fishing , that you told a guy that u were on the IOM. so lets be honest if you were going to the big house for at least a 12 stretch, anywhere else in the uk I doubt you would get bail. and I also guess that if u r going down for at least a 12 stretch, they may have frozen your assets.Lets be honest if you have commited a crime that is so serious that you will be going to a maximum security facility, then you would not be on bail and definitely not on the internet, stop talking crap.

  6. To al you guys. I think that I have been proved right here. There was never any jail sentence. It was a load of BS. And if you want to see what a bs manxninja is just go to 'Pattaya secrets"

  7. Stoneyboy wow did you not get any pressies for Christmas this year. I have never seen anywhere that a topic had to be related specifically to pattaya. A open forum is for people to express their views isn't it. And if it's got nothing to do with either pattaya or Thailand why did you bother commenting DELETED

  8. I have never been a fan of anyone doing cover versions of classic songs. They usually are always crap. i.e American Pie- Madonna, or Without You,- Mariah Carey.

But I came across something today, that I thought was absolutely Freaking awesome. Maybe other people won't, but it is all down to individual tastes.

But here lies the problem, I am not computer savvie, so I don't know how to upload to here. So if anyone is feeling kind, please go to you tube and search for " Sound of Silence" by 'David Draiman".

If anyone would be kind enough to upload it, I am sure you won't be disappointed cheers.

  9. rocketboybkk, I have no reason to lie, I gain nothing by it. What I am trying to point out is that the IOM, is very hard on drug crime. As for my friend, when I say a small amount, obviously I don't mean just a couple of spliffs, but he was also not caught with 50,000 quids worth either, which is what would justify a 12 year sentence in the rest of Britain. And admittedly it wasn't his first offence.

Over the past decade or so, the population has increased a lot on the island, probably something like 80,000 people now, and with more people comes more crime. I would think that per head of population the island has a drug problem that is comparable with anywhere in Europe, but the government are determined to try and discourage people to import drugs, sadly it will probably never work, money rules.

As for the op, I hope that he is not going to prison for drug related crimes, but the saving grace is that the IOM prison is pretty new, and is a bit like a holiday camp, albeit with walls.

  10. lostinissan, I can assume that if he is getting a long sentence in the isle of man, then he has to have commited a really serious crime. and long sentences are only usually meated out for murder or drug related crimes, there are also the odd time that people involved in financial crimes that involve positions of trust are sentenced to long sentences. but as I said if someone states that they know that they are going to prison for a few years, it is unlikely that they are walking around free. it is very easy to leave a small island, without people noticing.

  11. I think this is a wind up. Let me tell you why. The Isle of Man is a very small place only about 30 miles long by 11 miles wide. And they are very strict about certain crimes, sometimes giving draconian sentences for drug related crimes. I have a friend who has just been released from prison after serving 12 years for possession and intent to supply cannabis. he was caught with a small amount.

The Isle of Man is very proud of their record on zero tolerance of drug crime. And if this man is guilty of anything to do with drugs then he is going away for a long time. As I have said murder and drug crimes are really the only thing that result in long prison sentences.I have known many people found guilty of crimes involving assault and drink related crimes who even though they are repeat offenders, never get more than a couple of years.

What I am trying to point out is that if this guy knows he is going to prison for a few years in the Isle of Man, is that he would certainly be on remand, and would not have access to the internet to post this.

  12. I would guess that he is going to the notorious hell hole in the isle of man at jurby. lol. must be pretty serious if you are getting a few years in the island. not read of any murders lately, so hope its not drugs, cos that's the only crime for which you have to serve the full sentence.

  13. Disgraceful. Some of the facts that I remember from when they were first arrested

2 days after the murders 300 Burmese men were DNA tested, all were cleared no DNA matches found.

Pictures placed on TVisa at the time showed these 2 men waiting in line to have their DNA taken. So how can they be cleared one day, but arrested a few days later

It was only after the original police chief was movwd and a new one appointed by the good General, with orders to solve the case quickly that they were arrested.

The thai pathologist stated on television that 3 separate types of DNA were found on the girls body, yet we never heard of any attempt by the police to find a third culprit.

No evidence of the 2 mens DNA on the murder weapon.

The person who many suspected of the murders, was shielded by the police everytime his bame was mentioned They claimed he was at university in Bangkok at the time of the murders, and even produced CCTV footage of him the next morning at 9am. This was then exposed as footage from 2 weeks before the murders. No explanation from the RTP as to why the showed false evidence. When they finally after much public outcry agreed to test his DNA, they made a statement saying that he gave his DNA at 3pm one day, and unbelieveably they had the results at 9 am the next morning, which is impossible, even the leading forensic scienrist in Thailand miss Porntip said it was impossible to do.

Then there was the missing 2 minutes of footage from the CCTV camera outside the 7/11 close to the beach, that the police were UNABLE to explain.

There were many other things that happened but these were just a few examples of the lies perpetrated by the good general and his RTP cronies..

  14. Robert24, I have no problem with someone having a mia noi/gik, but to come on a public forum and tell everyone, and then say I respect my wife, so I told her I have one is complete bs. I didn't say she was a bar girl, but she obviously knows he has a wife, so for me she has the same mindset of a bar girl. she is in it for the money, but I guess he feels she really loves him.

  15. If you love and respect your wife, why would you need a "mia noi". And I am sure that if your wife knows about your mia noi, then so do all of her family and friends. So how do you think she feels. Obviously you think that you are a big man, because you come on here and brag about the mia noi, but it is also obvious that the mia noi, is a woman of no value, because she knows you have a wife, she is with you just for the money, a bar girl by any other name.

  16. Kwaibah, funnily enough they paid us. and all with the goverments permission. So it goes to show that when it suits the thais, no work permits are needed.

  17. Isaangeorge, yes you are right it was 2012. As I said I did it for 3 months, I must have missed the first month, because I was reluctant to do it at first. The biggest problem I found was lack of equipment, and very much a lack of discipline. What I also found was that when I asked the kids what they wanted to do when they left school, out of 14 boys, 1 wanted to be a doctor, the other 13 all said they wanted to be farmers.Out of 12 girls, 10 wanted to be nurses, and the other 2 wanted to be on television. In the end it was very hard to get anything over to those 13 boys who wanted to be farmers, because they had no interest in learning English.

  18. On this subject of needing a permit to work. about 3 years ago I was asked if I would try to teach the younger kids at the local school basic conversational English. I told them that I wasn't really qualified to do so, as I didn't have any tesl certificates. they said not a problem just a few hours a week for 3 months, it was a new scheme by the education authorities in Sisaket. I then asked about needing a work permit, and was told you won't need one the government has approved the scheme. so for 3 months I worked without a permit, with the permission of the government.

  19. Khwaibah, you seem to be another one going over the top. I have spent my time here trying to be friendly to the people in the village, not bragging that I have more money than they have, and also not building a house so big, that they thought I was trying to tell them that my home is impressive. At the same time, I also let them know that I was not here to pay for their beer all the time. it has taken a while, but if any thai drinks with me, they know that if I buy 4 bottles of leo, then they have to buy 2. and surprisingly I am never alone when I drink everyday at 5pm. I never expect them to buy as many as me.

I can also say that I could probably show you at least a dozen families in the village, that have far more money than me. Khwaibah, if you fear that upsetting a thai in your village, will lead to you ending up in deep <deleted>, then maybe you should change your attitude to them, because obviously if you fear this, then maybe you have already upset someone.

  20. Connda/fekman, I think you may both be going over the top a little, maybe you are both joking and I am losing my sense of humour. But I can guarantee both of you that I wont be informed upon or spend anytime in a police cell or have to pay any money to bribe someone. as I said I have lived here on and off for 13 years, my wife is well respected, and as far as I know I get on with everybody in the village, and have no enemies.

there was one occasion a couple of years ago when we got broken into whilst we were sleeping. within a couple of days someone tipped the law off as to who has done it and they were caught..i think that speaks volumes, because I know a lot of thais think that farangs deserve to be robbed, because they can afford it..

I am amazed that a topic I started as a bit of fun, has turned into something so serious. maybe I went a little over the top, but I was just trying to get over how amazed thais get when they realise we farangs can still do work, oh and of course we can still buy the beer lol.

  21. Pugwash1, sadly i was still expected to buy the beer, and amazingly, the brother in law seemed to recover pretty quickly from his flu, and sink a few glasses of beer.
