johnthailandjohn, i ask you again, when his father offered one million baht, not to the public, but to the thai police to prove his sons guilt or innocence, how come he didn't know that his son was at university in bangkok. i always knew when my son was some 600 kilometres away from home. And please don't give me any crap about maybe he didn't know where he was, because i'm pretty sure as soon as the allegations were made against his son, the first thing he would have done is called him. And if you are certain we should believe all the people who "saw him at university" then why shouldn't we believe the people who said he left the island on the first boat the morning after the murders. And you still haven't provided any link to the so called cctv evidence showing him at university, could this be because it has not been made public, and you are only basing your comments on what you have read

So anyone questioning your version of events is just spouting nonsense and speculation, but your opinions are 100% fact. Please let us know how you are privy to such information, and that your opinions are not just based on what you have read.

johnthailandjohn. It seems to me that you have selective memory. It was stated that these 3 guys were among the 300 who had their dna tested within the first 2 days of the murders, and the police subsequently stated that all 300 were not a match to the dna extracted fron david and hannah.
Also please compare these two staements from the chief of police. On friday he stated that the burmese guy had confessed to killing them both because he felt jealous when he saw them having SEX on the beach. Then on saturday he said i am satisfied we have got the killers, because one of them confessed he was jealous when he saw them KISSING on the beach.
But what makes this even more puzzling is that the police stated a few days after the murders that none of davids dna was found on hannah, so how could this burmese guy be telling the truth. And can you tell us all why the kamnan and all his family were allowed to refuse dna tests when everyone else was required to give one. The kamnan also offered the thai police a million baht if they could prove that his son was involved in the murders ( or maybe i should have said not involved) this offer was made just about three days after the murders. The puzzling thing here is that the son said he was taking an exam in bangkok at the time of the murders. Now surely the kamnan knew that his son was at university in bangkok, so why didn't he state that at the time he made his offer.
one last point if i am not mistaken none of the so called cctv footage of the son being on campus has been made public so how do we know if it exists. as you clearly regard yourself as a guardian of the RTP please feel free to answer these questions, and while you are at it and you seem to be so well informed please let us know if any internal discipline has been meted out to any police officer that has been found to be lying after they tried to coerrce a taxi driver into making a false statement. Over to you.

The one thing that really puzzles me about this is, when this mon guy offered a million baht to the police if they could prove that his son was guilty, or should i say innocent., why didn't he say at the time that his son was in Bangkok when the murders took place. Nothing was mentioned of this until about 2 or 3 days later. And the police have not made public the so called cctv evidence showing his son in Bangkok. And didn't i read somewhere that the son was known to have left the island on the first boat the morning after the murders.

thanks for the help guys. my current visa runs until january3rd 2015, so i guess they will stamp me until then.

I have been on a retirement visa for the last 4 years, but in that time i haven't been back to England. I have to go back next month for a month. I return to Thailand on the 26th november. My next 90 day report is due on the 28th november. Does anyone know if immigration at the airport will just let me do my next report or will they stamp me with a 30 day visa. thanks in advance for any help.

jlcrab, why are you so argumentative. All this guy asked for was some information about ex-pat population, bars/restaurants that cater for falangs in Isaan. So far all you have done is give him crap. If you had to drive to somewhere in Thailand that you didn't know how to get to, and you came on here asking for directions would you expect to get a load of crap spewed at you.
What does it matter to you what his ideas are, because it's obvious that even if it was the best idea in the world, that you don't have the spare cash to invest. I actually know what his plans are, and although I don't actually think that there is the opportunity for him to be a success in Isaan, what right do I have to critiscise him.

Niwpix, Since the coup, almost every social media site in thailand is being monitored. And as thai visa is one of the most used sites, I think we can assume that this site is being monitored. So we are not talking about a small not very well known site.
I don't know how long you have lived in Thailand, but you have to understand thai culture. Just to give you an idea about the culture, a few days ago i wanted to read a sports report on the daily mail website, when I tried to log on, to my astonishment I found the website was blocked by the thai goverment. The Daily Mail is an english newspaper, what reason can the thai goverment have for blocking a newspaper, as far as I know they haven't insulted the thai goverment.
The reason that I have been trying to warn "LostinIsaan" to tone down his comments is that what he did was point out specifically people that were involved in the sale of drugs, i.e. The Chief of Police in Uthom Phon Pisai, and also he accused most of the other police of selling drugs to young people either for money or sex. Now I honestly don't care if he gets arrested or not. But as you point out would he be arrested and thrown into a overcrowded thai prison, the last time I looked the thai police didn't give a shit if a prison was full. But your second point was, would he be subjected to some unlawful retribution, and i would say almost certainly 100% he would be.
Thais do not like to lose face, and that is just the ordinary man in the street. So can you imagine the fury of the Chief of Police if he is accused by a farang of being complicit in the selling to drugs to kids. So yes my answer to you is, we must all beware of critiscing anyone that has any power. Remember we are not in Bangkok, and any farang disappearing here in Isaan, will not be investigated by the police the same as it would be in Bangkok, espicially if the police made him disappeare.
Finally, my last point is, you ask would anyone really take the time to try and trace a IP adress, well in this day and age of computer geeks it probably takes about 2 minutes to trace.

Oh my god, lostin isaan your silence is deafening.
-
Lostinissan, no one is doubting that what you are saying is true. But your stupidity is mind blowing. I can only assume that if you are being so flippant in your attitude to posting names, not actual names, but the ranks of police officers, and also specific areas where they are stationed, that maybe at the present time you are not in thailand. Do you not realise how easy it is these days to trace a IP adress.
But if you are so clever that you have devised a way to avoid detection, please share it with the rest of us, so we can all throw caution to the wind and say what we want about the police here in sisaket and surrounding areas.

Seems to me mate that you are not taking this thing seriously, you obviously feel that you are one of those people that think "they can never trace me". I am sure that is what the yaba dealers that were caught thought. By the way the ones that didn't get tipped off, are regarded as collateral damage.

The way that the net is being monitored at the moment,i'm not sure that it is a good idea to be accusing the police in Uthom Phon Pisai of being yaba dealers, and specifically naming the chief of police there as being the main man in charge of the dealing. As the op on this topic, i live in a small village next to uthom, and while i agree that some people are getting tipped off when a raid is on the way. I would still be very wary of naming individuals.

Bermondburi, so if your nephew was guilty in the past, do you think we should feel sorry for him now. Do you think that when he was lining his pockets, that he considered that some of the people he was selling to may have been young kids who's lives he was ruining. I bet he didn't give a flying f#ck as long as he was getting his money. I say they should have shot him and rid the area of yet another lazy arsed scumbag that didn't want to do proper work to earn a living.

Suradit69, I have lived in Thailand for 15 years, and let me tell you that I have never met a thai person that thinks logically. The first raid this week was on a well known yaba dealer. But the other two raids netted two people that no one even in the village suspected were dealers. They were two young guys, who were outstanding students in their last years at senior school and both were going to move on to university. Sadly for them someone at their schools tipped off authorities that they were dealers.
The parents of both these young guys are absolutely devasted. And by the way, yes once the army have caught someone they are looking for, they like to make everyone in the village aware of what they are doing. Obviously the two high school students had the attitude that it could never happen to them, but they were wrong.

It seems like the army are coming down hard on the yaba dealers. Since last sunday we have had 3 early morning raids in our small village. And there have been a few in the past several weeks. Funny thing is I can't recall any in the last few years by the police.

guys if they charge 80 baht for a bottle of water, what makes you think that the wine and cheese would be free. They have a great location, it is owned by the Marriot, so no rent to pay, and yet they are the most expensive bar in Pattaya when they could be the cheapest. It makes no sense .

What happened to the promise made by the president of the State Railways that if another train derailed he would resign. A promise made the day before he was on the train that derailed on the new relaid line, that he was re-opening at the time

Let's face it, Acorn screwed up at the old Shenanigans and they will screw up in Jomtien. Their first mistake was sacking Stuart. Here was a guy that was well respected by the customers, and it was only his ideas that kept the place going. But as usual a company that failed miserably in one venue thinks they can go somewhere else and be a success. I wish i could have a one to one conversation with the owners, and ask them what their plan was, on how to make a sucess of Jomtien, but of course they will never listen. I challenge anyone who is in charge of Acorn to PM me and ask me for my opinions on how to make a sucess of Jomtien, but they never will. I ran very sucessful bars in the UK for 30 years, and I will bet my life that Acorn will either put this bar up for sale or shut down within one year.So go on, anyone from Acorn PM me and ask for advice.

Geriatrickid, you really do talk a load of Bollo*ks. Firstly let's talk about the hiso's. member for member Thaksins goverment were far richer than the Democrats goverment, but i must admit they weren't when first elected, but by the time that thaksin crapped himself and fled they were. As for Yingluck not using the army to inflict violence on the protesters, there is only one reason for that. It is because the army would refuse to do it. And just remind me will you, when the (peaceful) red shirts occupied Bangkok in 2010, did they not set up blockades using sharpened bamboo poles, and burning tyres, as well as of course many buildings getting burned down from accidental sparks caused by the burning tyres. I wish apologists like you would wake up to the fact that the Thaksin regime has ruined this country, and now even the poor are realising, that in the past although they got less for their rice, at least they were paid for it.

Koh Tao murder report to go to prosecutors this week: police
in Thailand News
Posted
I have just been reading a story about thai greed, about all the scamming that is going on in places like pattaya, koh samui and other islands. And a person has made a comment that says " The beheading of a belgian couple is just hitting international news and this will not help" I don't know if he is saying this has happened in Thailand, but would seem strange to mention it otherwise. Anyone else heard anything.
