  1. "Do you have to have a multi currency account to make a transfer from my bank to Bangkok Bank-NY branch? Can you use the Debit ACH pull from my bank to transfer to the Bangkok Bank-NY branch? Thanks" I did the transfer through BBK NY as a domestic (US) transfer from my Wise USD account (which I have no idea is a "multi-currency account" or not). It was in my Thai BBK account (in Baht, coded FFT) in two days. As Pib noted, BBK NY only accepts incoming transfers to Thailand IF they are in the International ACH (IAT) format. To avoid an issue with that, fund your Wise account with the Debit ACH, then do the transfer from that to BBK NY.
  2. An update on two test transfers of USD (from the US) from Wise I made on last Thursday. For one I defined a SWIFT wire transfer using BKKBTHBK. For the other I defined a domestic transfer from Wise to the BBK NY office using their ABA routing # (026008691). In this one BBK NY, not Wise, actually does the international transfer. Both of them posted today in my Thai BBK account. Both of them were coded FFT. Success. However the fees charged by BBK (and/or the conversion rates), especially for the SWIFT transfer were more than the normal Wise transfer. For the SWIFT transfer I got a net conversion rate of less than 31.5. Not good. Still these are two alternatives because in each case they are never routed through another Thai bank so will always come through FFT. Early this morning I did a "normal" Wise international transfer from my USD account (selecting "funds for long term stay"). It did not post immediately in my Thai account and it says it should arrive approx. 2:00 PM today which indicates that it will post FFT. As of last week my Wise account is "tagged".
  3. I also tried another option. I created a new recipient in Wise giving the Bangkok NY ABA routing number. So a transfer in Wise to that account appears as a domestic (US) transfer. Then BBK NY (not Wise) forwards the money to my account in Thailand. Should come through as FFT here. The trans would be BBK NY to BBK here and would never be routed to any other bank. We'll see. I tried a test amount yesterday so it will probably be Monday or even Tuesday before it appears.
  4. I sent a e-mail to the Wise help center three days ago requesting they tag my account. Here is the message I received: "I have put a tag on your THB bank account ending with *134, so the transfer to that account will be routed through Bangkok Bank. However, please bear in mind that this tag does not work 100% of the time. There are unforeseen scenario where a certain partner might be facing a technical issue and the system will route the payment via another available partner to ensure same day delivery."
  5. That's good news! Hope it actually happens. This is exactly what I was hoping to find to replace my aging (but much loved) Phantom. I don't want anything bigger and I hate riding scooters.
  6. I am interested in this bike too. Unfortunately it appears that it is not available now in Thailand.
  7. Sorry to hear that the artist bars on Soi 33 have closed. Starting about 28 years ago and up until 2004 or so I was a frequent customer. Especially the Rembrandt. It was a classy place (compared to anything on Cowboy or Nana). Some really spectacular women worked there. It was a good place to hang out even if you weren't necessarily interested (that night) in paying a bar fine and all of that. I had some good times there, met some really beautiful women, and I spent a ton of money there. Good times.
  8. I sent $100. Wise charged me $3.41. I am certain that BBK will charge an additional fee. I will not know until it posts in my account.
  9. As a test I just did a SWIFT transfer from Wise (US) to my BBK account. You have to set up another recipient (BBK) with their SWIFT code and it is more expensive. Not only that they are saying it might take 4-5 days to get into my account. However it SHOULD come in as FTT. We will see.
  10. TimBKK: Sounds you succeeded in getting "tagged" which is what I think many of us have to do. Where/Who did you call? In their e-mail response can you identify the person and address? I don't think any of us are getting helped bye-mailing their Help Center. Would be good to have a specific contact who understands the issue and knows what to do.
  11. Pib: You said: "That's an assumption on your part. I expect they are still a partner bank....Yea, that's also assumption on my part but just an hour ago jmd8800 posted an email he got from Wise saying they had retagged his Wise acct to use Bangkok Bank. Wise wouldn't have said that if Bangkok Bank was no longer a partner bank." I did not assume. I stated it as a conditional by saying: IF BBK is no longer a Wise Thai partner bank"... Then that would explain what seems to be happening. I just sent an e-mail to Wise asking directly if BBK is still one of their partner banks in Thailand. They may not answer that but we will see.
  12. I think that if BBK is no longer a Wise partner bank, there is nothing Wise can do to guarantee that a transfer to Thailand to to a BBK account will now be tagged as FFT because it would have to go through another Thai bank and forwarded to BBK as a domestic transfer. Wise seems to be saying, however, that if it is a transfer using SWIFT (more expensive) than it will end being coded by BBK as FFT. I really hope this sorts out in the next few days.
  13. In the linked Help article Wise says that it can support doing SWIFT transfers from the US to Thailand. It says that there is uncertainty about the fees since it might go through several but says that for a fixed fee of $14 it will guarantee that the recipient receives the full amount originally transmitted. For us BBK users we may have to start doing this.
  14. I understood that Wise utilized three Thai banks and that they were BBK, KSK, and another one I forget. When you selected "funds for long term stay" then Wise routed those transfers to BBK only. BBK then tagged them as FFT and everything was good. Perhaps Wise has dropped BBK as one of their local banks and are not using them anymore. Then any transfer to an account at BBK would have to come from one of the banks like KSK that Wise is now using and thus be domestic. Can anyone confirm that Wise is no longer using BKK?
  15. Since there are a lot of Wise users here, I am going to ask this OT question. Without doing a bank to bank transfer (ABA and all of that) can a person (who does not have a Wise account) go online and deposit funds into my Wise USD account using a credit/debit card. Obviously they would have to know my name and Wise account number.
  16. KannikaP: The same happened to me at Bangkok Bank this morning. If it happened to you at Kasikorn then the issue is definitely with Wise, not at BKK.
  17. Yeah, something changed at WISE. I just did a test transfer for $100 to my BKK account. Previously my transfers took a day or so and were labeled International Transfer. This transfer just now went through instantaneously to my BKK account and was labeled "Transfer from A/C at Other Bank"
  18. I use Food Panda a lot. In the past month or so I know of three restaurants that have dropped FP now and only use Grab for delivery (and also Line Man). I think FP charges the restaurant more than the others.
  19. I admit it I am old and dont understand a lot of this but I am tired of the fees I pay to transfer money from the US to here. From the point of view of my bank in the US how does the (Transfer)Wise transaction appear? Is it just like a domestic transfer to a US ABA routing number? Is it in the IAT format (required for BKK BK NY transfer)?
  20. According to CM News, there were just 14 new cases yesterday. Does anyone know if that is close to a defined threshold which would put the province back to the "orange" color code?
  21. UJ, your post had me worried. I checked again and it is there now. They must run them in batches or something.
  22. I get SS at BKK Bank. Not there yet. I think this is the first time it has been as late as the 6th.
