  1. Ah! I'm now thinking that they just told me that it was my fault that the battery was flat and, in actual fact, the battery was faulty - hence them giving me a brand new one at no charge. Makes sense!
  2. I have owned a ZS EV for over 3 years. No problems except when I failed to sign out of the app and the 12v battery went flat. An MG mechanic came to the house and installed a new battery - no charge. I thought this was very odd, but great.
  3. This is not correct. You think every car that Porsche Bangkok sells gets the same red plate with the same number? Codswallop!
  4. You cannot trust this site to give accurate Thai prices. For example: If you check their price for a Porsche Taycan, they quote about 50% of the Thai price. They just take the US price and convert to baht. Note: I'm not saying those quoted BYD prices are definitely wrong, just that they may be.
  5. Yes, but I'm not sure if that will be adopted as the standard nomenclature; it doesn't quite roll of the tongue! If it ends up that wall box is commonly used, Wallbox (the company) will be very pleased. A bit like Hoover and Tannoy. I like charging dock.
  6. Some clarification regarding wall boxes and chargers: Wall boxes are very often referred to as chargers. They are not chargers. The chargers are in the cars. A wall box provides power at a higher rate than a standard three-pin plug socket.
  7. I guess you deliberately didn't mention the cell balancing the MG does after reaching 100% charge. No point unnecessarily complicating this thread. Oops! I just did! I could be wrong, but I think MG is the only EV that balances the cells automatically after being charged to 100%.
  8. Please let us know what your verdict is after driving your Good Cat for a few weeks. (What a strange name!)
  9. I think I understand now why you talked about a housing earlier: It's to protect it from the rain. Got it!
  10. When I had mine installed, there was no mention of me needing another meter. I don't understand why a second meter would be required.
  11. When I bought my MGZS EV over three years ago, the MG wallbox was supplied and installed for free with up to 15 metres of cable. They did a really neat job, even though it was a tricky installation. No box was needed to house it. They must have changed the design. Sounds like things may be different now.
  12. Do you seriously mean this? Or do you just mean she's very good at mental arithmetic?
  13. Okay, but does that mean all the many dictionary definitions of electrocute which define it as "injury or death" are wrong?
  14. Why do some people think electrocution always involves death? e·lec·tro·cute /əˈlektrəˌkyo͞ot/ verb past tense: electrocuted; past participle: electrocuted injure or kill someone by electric shock. "a man was electrocuted when he switched on the Christmas tree lights"
  15. For me, the question is not why would they notice charging stations? The question is: why do so many people insist on posting the biggest load of codswallop on here regarding EV cars and charging that they obviously know nothing about? It’s mystifying! It would be funny if it wasn't so boring! There was a poster on the other EV thread yesterday ("The REAL EV vehicle discussion thread....") who said “current lithium BEVs do not work well in very cold or very hot conditions like Thailand”. Where the heck did he/she get the idea from that EV batteries don’t work well in Thailand? No answer (yet) from him/her when I challenged the statement.
  16. You ask two questions. There is a very simple answer which covers both: You plan your trip in advance. In my experience driving around Thailand, it is a simple matter to plan your trip in advance by checking where charging stations are on your route. Contrary to common belief and silly talk (which is very, very boring), there are plenty of charging stations around the country; their locations are viewable on online maps. There are at least 12 different providers. I plan so that, if my first station is out of order or busy, I have two other stations as options. Simple. It is worth mentioning that: 1) Most, if not all, stations can be booked in advance using an app. 2) The various apps also tell you if a station is out of order, being used or is booked at a certain time. 3) You would be more likely to be struck by lightning or win a billion dollars in a lottery than come across a station with a queue of 10 cars. In three years of driving an EV, I have only once had to wait about 15 minutes for another car to finish charging. I hope this helps allay your concerns.
  17. What exactly do you mean by "do not work very well"? Reduced range? I have two EVs here in Thailand. I've had one of them for over three years. I have consistently got better range than the manufacturers' official figures. From what I have read, I believe very cold climates reduce range significantly. The climate in Thailand (I live in Phuket) doesn't seem to be a problem.
  18. I own two EVs. I bought my first one three years ago. There are plenty of charging stations around Thailand. Not a problem. I probably would not have bought an EV if I lived in a condo. It's nice charging in my own garage.
  19. And that's just MG charging stations in Thailand. Is there a map showing the location of all providers' charging stations?
