  1. I have never seen anything like this in my life. We're not talking about a loss leader in a supermarket here. This is quite unbelievable! Tesla: Talk about throwing the cat amongst the pigeons!
  2. I don't know about the rest of the island, but the traffic in the Cherngtalay area already seems to be busier than it ever was pre-covid. Does anyone else agree, or am I losing it?
  3. That's certainly surprising! I have used Ev Station PluZ many times. First time, my girlfriend had to download the app and register using her debit card for payment. We both recall it was a bit of a rigmarole but once set up it worked, and has worked since, beautifully.
  4. The executives of BYD and MG (and all the other EV brands) must be pulling their hair out. Can you imagine?
  5. I wonder if Tesla plans to allow non Teslas to use its Supercharger network in Thailand from day one. I suppose that would be too much to hope for. The company has been allowing non-Tesla EVs to use its stations in several cities in Europe as part of a limited pilot program.
  6. EV Station PluZ (at some PTT stations): On-peak rate from 9am to 10pm is 7.5 baht per unit. The off-peak rate from 10pm to 9am is 4.5 baht. The off-peak rate is charged all day on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays. To book charging time at a PTT EV Station PluZ, you must download the EV Station PluZ app. There is a booking fee of 20 baht, but this is refunded as long as you show up for your booking. I guess these rates will probably go up next month (January) when electricity charges are due to increase.
  7. If you mean turn it off so the lights go out, I do it using the breaker. I don't see how else I could do it.
  8. Bear in mind, we humans are not all the same. My primary reason for owning a motorized vehicle is because I love driving; always have. I’ve always been interested in cars, although wouldn’t know how to change a wheel! At this point in time, I have two cars, both 100% electric. Fantastic! You mention taxis. I hate taxis, for so many reasons. I cannot imagine my life without me owning a car.
  9. Ha! You gotta laugh at Americans attempting to teach Brits how to spell! Or even worse: A Brit teaching Brits how to spell! License is both a noun and a verb in the United States. If you live in any other English-speaking country, like the UK, it's spelt licence when used as a noun and license when used as a verb.
  10. Just saw the BYD ATTO 3 at a charger in Krabi. Great looking car! We were charging side by side. The ATTO 3 made my MGZS EV look like SHEE-ITE. Love the big wheels compared to the MG's undersized ones.
  11. I have rented cars in many countries (excluding South American countries) since 2005 using my Thai licence. Never a problem.
  12. I bought a new Focus S in 2013. Fantastic car. I kept reading about other owners having problems. I had none. Sold it in 2019. Somebody got a very cheap, very nice car.
  13. If you mean the charger in your car, this makes sense (possibly). If you mean the 7.4kW wall box in your garage, that wouldn't work well. People would just granny charge (2.2kW) by plugging into a normal outlet instead.
  14. Maybe not so easy. Worldwide, Governments rely on the income from vehicle fuel tax. EV sales will grow rapidly over the next few years and that fuel revenue will be gone. EV owners will have to be taxed to make up the shortfall. But how? Sure, governments can tax the use of public chargers, but how is any government going to tax an EV owner for charging at home. Even more difficult: taxing those owners who charge using solar.
  15. Where oh where do you get these ideas from? Someone will be along shortly with maps showing charging stations in Thailand. Or maybe, like me, they've had enough of this silly talk and won't bother.
  16. Just to clarify: The MG ZS EV does not have one pedal driving like some EVs have. The MG slows to 8kph and then you must press the brake pedal to come to a complete stop. With one pedal driving, the car comes to a complete stop without the driver having to touch the brake pedal at all.
  17. When I read your post I assumed G-Wiz could not be the actual name of the car and you were just having a laugh. But no, Google reveals that’s the real name! 20 years ago? I like your pioneering style!
  18. My MG slows the car down if it believes I am entering a corner too quickly. Far too sensitive; feels like my granny is driving the car. That said, I believe there are three sensitivity levels and I had it on high. I didn't bother trying the lower levels. I just turned this particular feature off. Simple!
  19. I'm not sure if you're asking a question here. But in my car, when I power it up, the radio plays at the same volume I left it at, if that helps.
  20. Sorry, I don't connect my phone to the MG so I can't help with this.
  21. Yes. My 2019 MGZS EV does exactly what you describe. It's a common complaint, but a minor annoyance.
  22. There's really only one thing I like, or love, the app for: turning on the aircon remotely five minutes before getting into the car. I suppose checking the tyre pressures remotely is quite handy, but that's about it. Not sure if the EP has iSmart.
