  1. I agree, great post snoopy.

When I first retired I must admit that I would start drinking at noon until bedtime out of boredom, not good for my health or my marriage. It lasted about 4 months until I realised where it was gonna take me, now I rarely drink before 6pm.

My Boys always warned me about the "bloke at the end of the bar" you see one in every watering hole in every tourist area where falags settle down. He's the guy who's retired, unmarried, got money, and gets laid when he is sober enough to manage it.

None of us want to end up as "the bloke at the end of the bar" retirement can be a wonderdul experience, but not for him!

Go into any bar now and you will find him, in the busy bars in BKK where there is more tan one bar within a bar ,you can find four or so, don't let retirement take you down this road as so often happens.

(Stern warning from TaiPauly :o )

  2. In this country if you hear a noise DOWNSTAIRS then stay UPSTAIRS.

A Thai robber will think nothing of taking your life. In the UK they would make run for it, but not here. You may loose a few possessions, but you will have your life!

RIP to this very unlucky chap.

  3. Already stated: ou could be dead in five years without ever really enjoying your life. If you can afford it DO IT.

I did it at 50, although after a year and a half of not working I have just bought a small business out here to keep me occupied, but until you have EXPERIENCED retirement, you don't know what it's like.

The BEST thing is not knowing what day of the week it is or CARING

Good Luck with your choice whatever it is

  4. I have been guilty of this a few times, not so much lately but when I was quite new to the forum.

It normally happens when I am in a bad mood (nothing to do with the post I am responding to) but more often than not when I have had one to many Chang's.

My fingers engage the keyboard before my brain is anywhere near it and its normally a tirade with spelling mistakes all over the place.

Then as soon as you hit "Post Reply" I think 'Oh my God -what have I just said?

Then I normally skulk off to bed knowing that I will have to face the consequences of my actions the next morning.

Anybody else ever been guilty of this alcohol inflicted sin?

  5. TIB. If you want this relationship to continue as well as your LIFE.

    BUY ANOTHER MOBILE!!!

I was in a similar relationship witha faranfg girl back home 9 years or so ago.

The last straw was when she tried to run me over, and I mean that seriously, I stuck it out through, bleach being poured over me, being arrested for restaring her from stabbing me, the list goes on, but there has to be a point when enough is enough, no matter HOW MUCH you Love her.

When you are old and wrinkly and she's the same you will regret staying with this Paranoid Android, because lepards don't change their spots

  6. It is important for men to remember that as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as they did when they were younger. When men notice this, they should try not to yell. Let me relate how I handle the situation.

When I got laid off from my consulting job and took 'early retirement' in January, it became necessary for Nancy to get a full-time job, both for extra income and for health benefits that we need. She was a trained medical transcriptionist when we met twenty-eight years ago and was fortunate to land a job at a local transcription house. It was shortly after she started working at this job that I noticed that she was beginning to show her age.

I usually get home from fishing or hunting about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says that she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts supper. I try not to yell at her when this happens. Instead, I tell her to take her time. I understand that she is not as young as she used to be. I just tell her to wake me when she finally does get supper on the table.

She used to wash and dry the dishes as soon as we finished eating. It is now not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after supper. I do what I can by reminding her several times each evening that they aren't cleaning themselves. I know she appreciates this, as it does seem to help her get them done before she goes to bed.

Our washer and dryer are in the basement. When she was younger, Nancy used to be able to go up and down the stairs all day and not get tired. Now that she is older she seems to get tired so much more quickly. Sometimes she says she just can't make another trip down those steps. I don't make a big issue of this. As long as she finishes up the laundry the next evening I am willing to overlook it. Not only that, but unless I need something ironed to wear to the Monday lodge meeting or to Wednesday's or Saturday's poker club or to Tuesday's or Thursday's bowling or something like that, I will tell her to wait until the next evening to do the ironing.

This gives her a little more time to do some of those odds and ends things like shampooing the dog, vacuuming or dusting. Also, if I have had a really good day fishing, this allows her to gut and scale the fish at a more leisurely pace.

Nancy is starting to complain a little occasionally. Not often, mind you, but just enough for me to notice. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. In spite of her complaining, I continue to try to offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any, if you know what I mean. When doing simple jobs she seems to think she needs more rest periods than she used to have to take.

A couple of weeks ago she said she had to take a break when she was only half finished mowing the yard. I overlook comments like these because I realise its just age talking. In fact, I try not to embarrass her when she needs these little extra rest breaks. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for awhile.

I tell her that as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me and take her break by the hammock so she can talk with me until I fall asleep. I could go on and on, but I think you know where I'm coming from.

I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Nancy on a daily basis. I'm not saying that the ability to show this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible. No one knows better than I do how frustrating women can become as they get older. My purpose in writing this is simply to suggest that you make the effort. I realise that achieving the exemplary level of showing consideration I have attained is out of reach for the average man.

  7. Kitchen is "off limits" for me, except I am allowed to go to the fridge for the beer.

I am not encouraged to do housework or ironing, the maid does most of it, but I can't resist sometimes going over bits she's missed , I am sure she thinks that cobwebs are part of the wall decorations like pictures are.

I bought some furniture polish and got strange looks, seems like it is suplus to requirements in a maid's cleaning Arsenal, so if I want anything polished I have to present her with the Pledge!

Still no complaints my end :o

    Cheers

  8. 'Maybe England have got too many superstars.

I think player for player, England are the best team in the world. Whether or not they all come together and gel is another matter however. We need a manager who can instill confidence in the team, Erickson seems to be doing the complete opposite.

I was watching a news conference with Charles Clarke talking about our new terrorism and deportation/extradition laws and what not... A member of the media asked if Ericksson was to be deported :o:D:D

I agree. My only worry as a Chelsea fan is that Mohrino is tailor made to mould together an England World cup winning squad and teach them to play together. At the moment,I think I support Chelsea as much, if not more than England. After all I no longer live there, and most probably will never do so again. Would he rise to the challange, or would he insist in running Chelsea at the same time. After all McClaren does two jobs. Poll coming up anyway.

Definatley would Lamps, he would say he could do it on his day off :D

  9. There was an article on the back page of the Nation by Ulimate Oink on Tuesday august 23 in which he has a pop at the stunners who work in the offices of the realm .

It appears to be the case that they are all mostly lazy incompetant and stupid.

They are not good at their job but on account of their looks and figure others are prepared to overlook their inadaqasies, and go on ogling them.

    eye candy i guess.

But they can be great salesladies as guys will sign anything when he has a lovely lady in front of him.

Only IDIOTS will buy something they don't want because it is being presented to them by a beautiful girl, most people have more sense.

Sex does not always work as a Sales Tool, but there will always be the unfortunate few who fall for it

  11. I went to bed at half time. I worked out after the first half it would either end 0-0 or 1-0 to England.

After another OUTSTANDING performance by England (from what I saw) I am sure that Brazil are quaking in their boots at the thought of cong up aganst England in the World Cup Finals (assuming we qualify)!! :o

  12. It is not common, but Thai on Thia, it is not unknown unfortunatley.

I have been here a year and have never witnessed any violence anywhere I have been (thats not to say it does not happen). If you are new to CM then you were very unlucky, but obviously not as unlucky as the guy on the receiving end.

from what I understand Thai's will not interupt what could be classed as a family fued or vendetta, its not like home, although you've gotta have some balls to tackle a guy with a meat cleaver in his hand.
