  1. Difficult subject Torny.

I don't think many people will post in fear of retribution.

I think that the AA programme may help him. If he starts with AA it could lead him to N.A (Nacrcotics Annyomous) I have never seen a number for this in Thailand! Although in the UK they post their numbers. maybee something to do with the harsh penalies here.

AA would be a good start. their number is in the BK Post classified section every day

  2. Hmmm, tricky subject. Yeah I hear what you are saying but ther ani't a lot you or we can do about it.

Just take Zimbabwi for instance that DICTATOR Magabwee has taken the country to the brink of bankcupty to assimilate a fortune in excess of a billion dollars...while his countrymen are on the brink of starvation. :D What can we do about it.? If we send aid where does the money go? In his pocket thats where :o

    So what DO WE DO?

  3. I thought it would be good to let you know how things are now, 5 months after the operations in case anybody else out there has to go through the same thing.

Two operations were performed a week apart as the first one went wrong.

The Doctor said the operation would give me back 70% of my mobility.

Well for the first 4 months I would say the improvement was 20-30% so although no longer in agony, the pain was connstant so I had to dose myself up on Tylenol & Codine pills. I even considered taking legal action, but was advised (by TV Members) that it would be pretty futile.

I recently HAD to return to the UK to visit my family and I thought the journey would be h*ll, but it was not so bad and all the time I was there the pian sudenly seemed to dissappear. The journey back was a breeze and now for the last three weeks I would say that I HAVE got the 70% the Doctor said I would have :o

The pain is now minimal, so it would seem that the body has a way to heal itself and I suppose beacuse I am over 50 and diabetic things take much longer to come right.

Its absolutley wonderful not to be having to be dosed up on painkillers all the time. The operation has set me free to be myself again.

So anyone else out ther who has the same sort of problem, but is reluctant to go under the knife over here may well take heart from this post. I am not advising anybody to DO IT, thats very much a personal thing, but it worked out for me in the end

Thanks for reading this post, and a big thank you once agin to all of you who so kindly supported me through this .

    TP

  4. I'd like to elaborate on what has been said thus far to the question are Thai(s) racist...the answer is "No". :D

I have wittnessed a lot more racism in Thailand from Thais than at any time in England...I would say yes

Toasty - hmmmm not so sure of that mate. I've seen some pretty harsh stuff in blighty, more so than Thailand. (whether it was deserved is another question :o )

So Brit, you have never noticed the racist attitude of some light skinned Thais towards their darker skinned Issan brothers and sisters?

    Bloody good point mate.

PS. Tomorrow or Friday, PM me which is best 4 you

  5. This has gone on so long I can't remember what it's called !!

I think we all forgot about it as we were so engrossed in responses.

You have seen it Live here on thai Visa Howard, hope you stick around.

    Good Post mate

  6. Hey Toast, you gotta be in it to win it. Just stuff 1,000 yaba pills in yer pocket and get drunk outside the local Nick. Presto, you got 10 years to perfect the art.

Only problem is you will be in Bang Kwan and they will be in the Hilton.

But then you can say you are a Martial Arts (OK only piss up) Speacialist and you have something worthwhile to offer the girls

Good Luck Toast, will be sorry to see you go, but I will be enviuos of the fun you will be having

  7. 30 years ago you would not have to worry about calling somebody "A Black" now you can go to prison for it.

One of the reasons I live in Thailand.

One of the reasons you live in Thailand is so you can call someone "A Black"? That's about the most racist thing I've heard [a farang say] in a long time. I hope you're enoying the freedom.

<deleted>, that has never for one minute been the reason why I live here, although I do admit that I would like to be able to call someone who is black, "Black" in my country of origin without fear of prosecution. It's beuocracy gone fukcing mad.

Mind you I would HATE being called "White " ......if I had been working on my tan for 10 days....Oh you look Brown!!.. what a compliment.

As I said its really crazy and we need one person to sort all this sh*t out. Maybee the "Master of Mismanagement" George Dubya can do it. He thinks he can sort every other f'ing problem in the world out :D If not him call the Pope, he's the only religius leader with any real authority who could put a halt to this rubbish. Let the vatican come up with a protocol of speech that we could all adapt then nobody need ever get offended again....if not Him, who else :o

  8. Well my advice to them is to take 5 and just chill out.  Take a few deep breaths, calm down, stick on a bit of nice music, relax, close your eyes...if that doesn't work then go and get laid!!  That'll do the trick guaranteed!!  :D

Or get it on with the missus/GF........providing its not her "time of the month" otherwise, yeah, kick the cat, or "start a potential flaming/roasting of yourself on TV" :D

Urmmm I guess thats whats happening here :o

  9. QUOTE(meemiathai @ 2005-11-08 14:33:2

. And there's always been banter between Brits and Aussies, Aussies and Kiwis, Yanks and Canadians the list goes on.

    [right)

but thats exacltly what it is Zaz, its banter between all of us...erm "Whites."

We would never have banter of the same type with non-whites, otherwise we would be called "Racist"

Who is to blame for this?

  10. I tend to believe that every single human being on earth is racist.

It's as simple as people being borned to like different colours, different food, different smells...etc...

I think in this discussion, it's important to really define the word "racism" accurately.

Is only dislike of a certain skin colour in one's mind and not showing it "racist"?

Is physical action required to constitute "racism"?

Is the dislike of the way of life or certain things being done by certain races "racists"?

    And the list goes on...

I think perhaps a lot of members here have different ideas about what "racism" is which leads to a lot of different answers to this thread.

    It's quite an abstract issue.

My opinion is that Thais aren't very racist when compare to some other countries.

Birds of a feather stick together, I see your point

  11. I am bewildered why on earth a bunch of Covicts have the audacity to suggest that we magnificent Brits are "Soap Dodgers"

Surely a shower a week in Thailand is more than enough... oh plus an extra one Christmas !!!

I have edited this post so I do not start World War 3
