  1. Based on 3.5M here's the numbers - gross before expenses

The monthly condo maintenance fees may become a more significant factor at these lower rent thresholds, assuming you choose to pay it.

Make sure you run these numbers factoring in not only the maintenance fee - maybe use some average per sq. m./month, but also (however minimal) monthly electric, water, cable TV, internet for those periods when the property might be unoccupied. Some of these expenses (cable TV, internet) are recurring/fixed, and it can be challenging to rent a property without these.

  2. Talk about a misleading headline...I assumed that the State of Ohio was stocking up on these lethal injection drugs as they are getting harder to source. Now I see they're just upping the "dosage". You'd think they;d have mastered this by now? Might be time to revert to the electric chair, gas chamber, firing squad, noose or stoning?

  3. The days of of last-minute stand-by fares being inexpensive went out the window ~ 40 years ago.

In these modern times last-minute fares tend to be in the least-restrictive/most-expensive fare buckets: so Y/B for economy, as all the other fare buckets have sold out. Obviously if fares dropped close to departure (some/many) people would wait until the last minute to purchase; this is not behavior the airlines want to encourage.

Your best bet would be to book/issue a ticket as soon as possible. I see fares of 50,000 - 60,000 THB all in, I used MCO and May 4/18.

Note that most airlines use the term "stand-by" to mean that these passengers are waiting until all passengers have been checked in/accounted for/upgraded, and then the "stand-by" list, which is made up of passengers (dead-heading crew/employees/airline retirees/family, people who missed an earlier flight. etc.), is processed in the requisite order.

  4. That sheet is much more accurate than others - which were perhaps earlier versions - which have been posted.

I still don't get all the "Platinum" channels - maybe those are coming later?

My main issue now is that the on-screen guide - which was reasonably accurate in the days following 22 April - now seems to be totally inaccurate; it does not reflect the schedule. Sometimes it seems to "refresh", but then reverts to the inaccurate display. I haven't checked a lot of stations, but have noticed this on some of the sports channels (6xx), so the on-screen guide might say "baseball" when it is in fact "beach soccer", or "golf" when it is really "jet-ski racing".

  5. But what does the '1 baht per day' refer to?

Not sure exactly but to me it looks like you can call some/any/all on-net (other TrueMove H numbers) numbers between 05:00 - 17:00 (or 23:00 and 17:00, not sure) unlimited (up to 60 minutes) by paying 1 baht/day. or maybe 1 baht for the first minute?

In any event, I'm pretty sure it is some promotion related to making voice calls.

  6. If I was to tell the police/authorities about this, what would happen?

I'm not certain you understand this, but you will have to present yourself in person to the local Police and/or Ministry of Labour, in order to make them aware of the potential violations.

You can't just "drop-a dime" via an anonymous email or phone call.

You and your "friend" should be prepared to face a fair amount of scrutiny, and the potential for blow-back on you and your "friend" might be unexpectedly harsh.

  7. Abhisit continues to keep his proposal details secret,

Upon first reading this, I assumed he was referring to the details surrounding his "accident".

Now I understand he is referring to "secret reforms".

They're so good he wants to surprise everyone.

  8. Based on the vast quantity of similar posts/threads you may find the answers you seek?

It would not take a lot to make this work a little smoother

Maybe you could follow-up with the Police with your suggestions for improving policing techniques.

  9. Its exact weighting in Google shares is 6.9%

You could just buy between $ 1,380 and $ 3,450 worth of GOOG?

Given that it split 2:1 this week, and is $516, you could buy 3 ~ 7 shares.

A lot of tech-oriented large-cap/growth mutual funds hold GOOG in their top 5, many as their top holding by %, although maybe not as high as 9.6%?

Unless there is some hugely disruptive technology on the horizon - like beaming adverts directly to the brain, they should continue to well for the foreseeable future?

  10. Where it says "3G max speed 500MB" does that mean I get 500MB of data downloads at 3G speed?

Yes, but upload and download. After which your speed might be limited.

Something like "Net 399" likes look a good packages to start on? Am I right?

Yes, this might be a good package to start with, assuming that is within your budget. Many people can get by with 1 GB/30 days assuming they have WiFi at work/home to supplement their usage. It offers unlimited usage which means after 1 GB up/down at 3G speeds, you can continue to use mobile data without additional expense, albeit at a greatly reduced rate of speed ( 128 Kbps ).

  11. Yes, save for the 006/00600 (TrueMove only), 005/00500 (AIS only) and 004/00400 (DTAC only).

    So 001, 007, 008 and 009 are "universal". 001 is equivalent to "+".

Calls would be itemized as international calls, billed over/above any allotment, rounded up to the next minute, times the per minute tariff then 7% VAT added. Not sure if 006 or 00600 calls might be included in your monthly allotment of minutes but I guess not. Check with TrueMove for confirmation.

You could not use AIS or DTAC bypass options (005/00500, 004/00400), as a TrueMove H customer.

  12. How do i know if my (cheapy) phone is compatible with TM-H?

What is the exact make and model of your phone?

Not sure why you'd stay with a company which provides notoriously incompetent service for years?

Assuming your phone supports 850 MHz 3G you could port out (transfer and keep your current number) to TrueMove H, or you could port out to AIS or DTAC, also keeping your same number.

Yes, the default calling and SMS rate is pretty much 1 baht/min or 1 baht/SMS, with some better deals (buffet, time of day, on-net, special number) available.

Most operators will transfer numbers from one SIM to another, but agree it is probably best to copy these over to the phone, and/or back them up using a PC.

  13. Yeah, I'm certain the GNote3 has a native calculator but given the amount of stuff on the phone it may be challenging to find?

Obviously switch the language to English (Settings, personal, Language & input, Language (English), and while there change the Keyboard & input methods to the desired option.

    Always re-start the phone.

Download the user's guide pdf http://www.note3manual.com/ and read it, of course.

    Watch some youtube videos https://www.google.com/search?q=using+a+note+3&oq=using+a+note+3&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.2663j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8#q=using+a+note+3&tbm=vid

  14. you had at least indicated back then that you were setting your POS to off then.

Nope, never did it. At least I've never used the 1333/Call Center before.

I might have made this change/request in person when I got my new chipped Be1st card, and changed my mobile number? But I don't think I did then either.

The good news is that my PoS is set to zero, now I just have to confirm that by trying a purchase.

  15. Yes, a Be1st Cardholder can disable the POS function on their card by setting the daily POS limit amount to zero.

    Thanks.

    IVR sequence

    1333 call center

    2 English

    3 be1st+other card services

    2 change daily limit

    3 Inquire about daily limit

then you enter the card number and 4-digit PIN.

My daily limit was/is zero baht, as far as I know I never changed it; so not sure if that is the default setting?

I guess I should try a PoS transaction to see if it is really set to zero. rolleyes.gif

FWIW, there is an IVR selection to change the PIN (4 digit). Hopefully they verify the current PIN first.whistling.gif

  16. Maybe ring them up to see if they have applied some sort of daily cap/limit on your connection? Some ISPs may restrict or halt certain activities/applications.

I do not recall any "complete stoppage" scenarios with 3BB, but there have been many recent posts re: restricting download speeds to certain thresholds during certain times during each day.

  17. Still hard to figure how an on-line purchase was completed without the OTP, hopefully the OP will share all the background, details, etc.

The OP was apparently signed up for iPAY, but doesn't recall doing so. The thief was fortunate in his first two purchases, in that the merchants hadn't subscribed to Verify by Visa (VbV), thus no SMS OTP sent to the OP. But the third time *did* hit a VbV merchant, triggering the OTP.

The OP might want to subscribe to the below SMS service when she gets her new Be1st card:

Receive a free and fast notification whenever more than 1,000Bt is spent using your Be1st Visa Debit card or Bangkok Bank credit card, and when your credit card payment is due. Enroll free today!

Bolding is mine, and I think this seems the likely scenario.

One can make on-line and PoS purchases with a BBL Be1st Visa Debit Card, without registering for iPay, assuming the merchant does not utilize Verified by Visa.

Registering for iPay allows one to utilize the VbV process.

It seems like anyone could register your credentials for iPay, at least as I understand the potentially flawed registration process (any mobile for the registration OTP-SMS - I did not step through this registration). But, hopefully, the VbV OTP-SMS is sent to the mobile number associated with your account.

Does anyone know if Bangkok Bank offers an ATM-only card?

Is it possible to disable any (PoS, on-line) Visa transactions with a BBL Be1st Visa debit card? Or to limit the usage with VbV merchants only?

I have never used my BBL Be1st (Smart/chipped) Visa for an on-line, or PoS purchase. Can anyone describe the process? Do I have to provide my PIN? Is my identify verified?

It seems like, if you were to lose - or have your details lifted - the potential for fraud/loss is significant. Yes, I understand that SMS alerts would provide notice of activity but by that time it is probably too late.

  18. Did you check to see if there was any second phone number added to your account, or if someone had changed the registered mobile number to one other than yours?
In my limited experience with BBL, there is only one, single mobile number associated with the SMS features. And to change the phone number, required an in-person visit to the branch associated with my account with ATM/Visa debit card, passbook, passport, and the signing of many, many copies.

The OP has mentioned being currently out of town for a seminar, so maybe the card was skimmed during this trip? And also said...

I have only bought from two of the largest online Bangkok deal sites using that card (spa deals, restaurant deals and an occasional shopping deal). My last was three weeks ago so the bank is investigating.

So maybe it was compromised from one of these "Bangkok deal sites"?

Still hard to figure how an on-line purchase was completed without the OTP, hopefully the OP will share all the background, details, etc.
