Not really surprising, same audience that voted for Trump.

To be fair, the liberals are also involved in sex--two other Bills I needn't mention.  The irony is the conservative mindset spouts the blatant wrongness of such deeds and then conservatives are right in there plonking--anyone remember, "I have sinned against you my Lord . . ."

I have quite a few, and can adjust the drives accordingly.  Don't like the sticky floors at the theaters...saw Platoon in 87...last one.  Oh, I was in line at Blockbuster Video at the corner of Ashby and Telegraph in Berkeley on a Saturday afternoon, and two black guys pulled out guns and robbed the place.

Sticky floors?   I didn't suggest you see Deep Throat. There are some very nice movie theaters in Thailand. If you have to have the movie in your room, try a decent hotel, many have internet movies for hire.

It's spring break in America for daughter and break time for kids here. Winter break is too expensive to fly and we went to Las Vegas then anyway.

We didn't have any other option and I wanted to check out Sonkran.

If the wife and her friends who are complaining about the heat are from Thailand; I would have to laugh.

I have seen several examples of that sort of phenomenon with Southeast Asian Women.

One lady from the PI claimed it was too hot for her in her home barrio and could not stand to sleep without a/c; yet she grew-up without electricity.

Another from Vietnam went to Montreal to university; after four years she came back to Vietnam,  she claimed she forgot how to speak Vietnamese.

Yet another from Thailand claimed she was not used to the spicy food here and could only eat western food; she had been gone only a couple of years.

I think there may be a common denominator here; the wives may simply be trying to express their pleasure at living elsewhere, or they may be concerned about the ready availability of young sweet things for their husbands.

So I draw money once a month for my expenses. You draw either through your wife or on your own account anything up to three times a day.  I think that's a waste of time. Convince me otherwise.

Apparently, you are under the wrong impression. I do not care if you are convinced. You also seem to forget; I do not want to keep money in Thailand. The only money I have here is what I just got out of the ATM. You see, I refuse to occupy most of my life trying to make it until next month on a budget. I go out almost every day; I go to places where I spend money--I have this notion that spending is all money is good for.

I caught a train from Hua Hin to Suasoanpradipat two train stations away

I was with four Thais, I had to pay 2 baht they all travelled for free, I have

written to the general manager Thai railways and my local MP in the uk !

Do you really think your local MP can help? Go back to fulham on your 2 baht.

  6.  "I see no justification for this and it frankly pisses me off as we allow Thais to vote in America, get visas, get citizenship, get phone plans and the list goes on."

Thais can only vote in America if they are citizens--if you were a citizen here, you could get your DTAC plan too. You get visas here, can get citizenship here and get phone plans here.

Not that I do not see you complaint,, but you need a better argument.

Well, lining up at an ATM two or three times a day would not suit me either. Unless you have perfected the art of meeting chicks in those locations.

I don't line-up at ATMs. For one thing, I never wait until I run out of money so I can function until I find an open line. For another, I usually send the wife for the money. If she is not with me and there is a line at an ATM, I go on to the next one--there are thousands of them and remember, I still have money. As for chicks, there are thousands of them too.

I don't think I ever said all my money was in Thailand. In fact, about 85% of it at last count is in Australia. I transfer enough for six months' expenses at a time from there.

I pay for everything in cash here, which suits me. I just draw cash to cover expenses once a month, so I don't find it cumbersome. Each to his own.

I never mentioned your money.  All the money I have in Thailand I just got out of the ATM.  I draw cash sometimes two or three times a day; my wife also draws cash as she likes. Sorry, it is obvious your methods do not suit me.

Apart from skimming at ATM's, the technology for scammers has become so sophisticated they can read your card data while brushing past you in a crowded supermarket. Unless you carry your cards in a metal wallet designed to thwart data hijacking.

The Thai bank savings book is basically scam-proof. You need the bank book and your passport to make a withdrawal. On top of that, you have to sign the withdrawal slip in front of the bank teller. I can't see a scammer getting over those hurdles.

I would rather not have my money in Thailand thank you. I want the convenience of getting cash anywhere and anytime I like; especially without charge and at the Forex rate. I dislike going into banks or any other formality that amount to wasting my time at their hours. As I said, I get reimbursed for any disputes, even if I have not reported it first.  And, I have used that same financial institution for acquiring cash for 50 years in Asia without a loss--had a few false charges, but was always reimbursed. So, I think I'll continue doing it my way; your way sounds too cumbersome and depends far too much on a Thai system.

Probably the same reason why so many younger native English speakers can't formulate a single sentence without using "like".

In the past it seemed to be predominantly young Americans, but recently I've noticed more and more young Brits using it too...

I like so hate this word like...

Words such as, "like," "whatever," "shut-up," er, ah, uh" etc., ad finitum are used mainly because the people using them do not know the word they want to say. As explained; 'ka," "krub," or  even "krap" are polite particles--not same-same.

Let me guess..Bernie Sanders told you so.  Actually, I don't pay a foreign transaction fee and the rates are better than any Thai bank exchange rate...plus there is no annual fee...the card is chip protected, and I can dispute any charge without calling or sending anything.

I prefer to have cash at all times. However, I see no point in keeping money here, so I use my Visa card for cash at ATMs--for better security, I use ATMs at banks. My bank never charges a fee, all local bank fees are reimbursed, the card is chip protected, I am reimbursed for any disputes, and the exchange rate is the daily FOREX rate. Of course, there is a minimum deposit, but it draws competitive interest.   Depends upon whether your financial institution is using you or vice versa.

Why don't Thai immigration insist that at least 65,000 be deposited in a Thai bank every month? The evidence of that is the bank passbook. If you miss a month ........ no extension. Why should it matter to them how much you earn?  Isn't it about bringing the dollars into a Thai bank.

If it's the combination method , then the amounts can easily be worked out.

Proof of foreign exchange coming in should be all that matters to the Thai authorities.

I was told that in Hatyai on March 16--just deposit B65k/mo in a Thai bank--actually the IO said B800k over the year. The problem with that is it looks to me as they will eventually require proof of a minimum being spent in Thailand of the B800k/year or B65/mo. That may not be a problem for those who spend that much anyway; but it certainly creates a problem for those who do not.
