1. All my wifes land is either on a main road or on a concrete village road, she would never buy any with no access, and most of it has electric poles and water, so I tell her sit on it and sell it in the future to other westerners who want to build, as there is a lot now looking for land in Buriram, the closer to the city it is the better the price, but in the meantime farm it.

  2. Good guest house, friend of mine owns, its called bed and books, air conditioned room, about 200 baht a night, all brand new fittings etc, this guest house has not long been renovated to a high standard, on the same soi as the vong tong hotel, hope this info is usefull.

Or you could go to the vong tong hotel just down the road, 500 to 1200 baht a night, not bad, check it out on there site, also bed and books has a website but cannot remember, stick it in a search engine.

  3. My wife has 88 Rai of land 4 clicks outside Buriram, and she buys land every Jan/Feb, her family farms it and they get 60% of the rice my wife gets 40%, it is good for the thai family, also all the land she owns is on a concrete road and some on a main road which is going up in value every year, so we think it is a good investment for the future, and for the future of our two daughters, so been a ferang I am not worried. we get quite a bit of rice in one year and we keep untill it goes up, then sell, and keep some back for replanting, we are looking for other things to grow, I was thinking about potatoes ?, any suggestions out there.

  4. There is a small expat community in the town of Buriram, who may be able to help. Several are well connected, speak fluent Thai, and are in the same situation, vis a vis land ownership. Rather than theory, these guys can tell you from experience what IS and ISN'T possible, who to use/avoid etc. Also, how much things should cost. Unfortunately a lot of people will see you coming, and bump up the price. These farangs have lots of local connections, so might be able to cut down the cost somewhat. Some have lived there over ten years.

Try the "Bamboo Bar" also known as "Bar Farang". It is near the railway station, on the same side of the road as the Thai hotel. Dave, the owner can put you in contact with people.

Another place is "Mai Treechit" (sort of cafe) near the morning market, on the corner by the two opticians, and the gold shops. Toy, the owner, speaks passable English, and again, many farangs from the villages go there for lunch. There is a menu in English BTW

Yes, I lived there for two years if you were wondering!

    Good luck.

Hi Richard, How ya doing, Dave from the bamboo is staying with me in wales at the moment, I have finished my house in Buriram, catch ya again Ian (Wales)

  5. I ship 40 foot containers to the uk, cheaper to send a 40 footer than two 20s, costs me about £1800 for a 40 footer, if you send handicrafts, there is no duty to pay in the uk, just the vat and port charges, get a good shipping agent in the uk and he will sort all this out, I have a good agent in Felixstowe, grange shipping and my agent in Thailand is in Chaing mai, you will be suprised what sort of profit you can make, I ship thai Guians, cartwheels, garden furniture, check my site and have a look, it will give you some idea, I have a small warehouse in Buriram, all the best.........

  6. $333.00 for 3 rai. No matter how much land that is it is aweful cheap. You could spill that much at the bars while on holiday.

Can anyone tell me how many rai are in an acre or acre are in a rai?

I am not sure which one is bigger.

    Thanks

My Wife has 88 Rai in Buriram, I am pretty sure that 1 acre is 2.5 Rai, hope this will help. I also think any sort of land is a good investment, and if you have a thai/ferang child he or she will benifit in the long term. and in the meantime use it for rice.

  7. I also want to bring a sports car into Thailand, I have asked about this, if you have a thai wife in the UK or US, the car has to be in her name for 18 months and she must hold a full driving permit, then there will be no duty due in Thailand, check it out, but thats what I have been told, if more info let us know. cheers.

  8. United kingdom is a great country, it has one problem, the idiots running it, and all the stupid rules and regulations, if a packi called me a taff could I do anything, no. if it was the other way round I would be in court, and most likely pay him compensation, all the decent people who have paid there taxes are moving out and all the s... is moving in, it gets me depressed, wish I had a Chaing.

Thailand is no1 for me, hope to sell or lease my Business this year and move to Buriram, the UK has gone mad, say no more, look at the previous topics.

  9. Hi, Any ferangs that live in buriram, know a few that get into the Bamboo and see dave, lets get togeather for a few chaings, been going to Buriram for 12 years so know a few, it would be good to know a few more, and exchange information about the province and the people, great place.

  10. I Import furniture, guians, cartwheels and woodcarvings to the u.k, in 40 footers, it is cheaper to get a 40 footer than shipping two twenty footers, all you pay in the uk is customs duty at the docks and vat, but if you have a good shipping agent they will handle all this for you in the uk,

I use A & P shipping from Thailand and they are first class, you make more money this way than selling on e-bay, but you have to have the outlets, I am lucky as my items go straight in my shop to sell retail. check my site. also good pics of the land of smiles.

  11. I have been lucky, I have built two houses in Buriram one like a palace for 2 million Baht, and the other a bungalow with 5 Rai of land, my wifes family built them, now my brother in law is in great demmand by other ferrangs in Buriram.

It was built 4 years ago, so no idea what it would cost today, check it out on my site.
