  1. I have a cat, and a Porsche turbo, some times my cat gets in the garage and sleeps in it, also goes to sleep on the whale tail, but i would never kill or harm him, or any other animal, i do get a bit anoid, so have put a cover on the car.

You are so kind to animals, so can my pet water buffalo come and sleep on your Porsche's tail fin?

    always has an answer :D

He's more interested in letting you know he has a

Porche Turbo than the cat. :o

  4. Sorry - slightly different subject.

Am I right in remembering that there's a Duty Free shop available to arriving international passengers at Don Muang - and a reasonable choice/prices? Just want to pick up some cigarettes & booze - and London Heathrow's usually a rip-off.

    Thanks.

Everything in the UK is a rip off, wait untill the euro comes, it will be far worse.

  5. King power in my book, is a complete rip off, only bought one item off them and never again, in Bangkok airport in November, my Thai stepdaughter rang me from the UK, Dad can you get me a Sony Network mp3 walkman, went to king power paid 19,900, baht, works out at £276, you can buy one in Bangkok for less than this, and in the UK about the same, so they are no cheaper than stores in the shopping malls, will not be using them again.

  6. My family in Buriram have a lot better lifestyle now, i also bought a lot of land 70-80 rai, it brings my brother in law and his wife enough money to live quite comfortable for 12 months, and also i get a good share of the harvest, we have three big lakes full of fish which we sell by the kilo, thats one way of making a good profit, and also have a few cows, my wife and i also live in the Uk, (worse luck), but travel to Buriram every 2 to 3 months, i would not want to open a shop in my village as all the villagers are relations of my wife, so i would not like to step on there toes. good luck.

  7. I am lucky. they never bother me, if you eat plenty of garlic or take the capsles thats one way to stop them the other thing i have been told to use, is Johnsons Baby Oil, the one with a mossie repellent in, you can buy at a pharmacy or supermarket, that works.

  8. I have a Thai stepdaughter she is now 13, she came to the UK when she was 5, my thai family were very, very, happy that i was taking an interest in the childs wellfare, she could only speak Thai and her thai father who is now dead, hopefully gone to ######, he used to mistreat this child very bad, she is now 13 years old and go's to a boarding school in England as a day scholer costing me 12 gran a year, she now speaks fluent english, german and french and is learning spanish, and when she goes back to Buriram in the summer hol's, our thai family are very proud of her and give me great respect for bringing this little girl up so well and giving her a good education, if you marry a thai lady it is for you to bring her children up, especially if she has a bad thai father, as there are a few out there, some of the advise on stickmans site i do not  think is true, he is just putting things on, that other people have told him or things that may have happened to himself.

You've really gone the extra mile for your kid and your family, and you deserve all the respect you get. I hope that your experience will encourage someone else to do the right thing, too. :o

Thanks ajarn, I appreciate your post, have a good day. :D

  10. Put this on my search engine this afternoon, no joy, it has just vanished, when i signed up to it about 7 months ago there were only about 15 members, not much information then as i think it was just starting, but i know for definate they meet in a bar in Korat, i think the first Saturday of every month, there must be a member on this site from Korat who could get more info.

  11. To a fellow welshman, if you go to korat you can hire a car at the Mall, there is a guy in Buriram that hires pick ups, his name is Steve, you may find him at the Bamboo Bar, or get some info there, there are a few taffs in Buriram, also in surin they hire a Ford ranger or a sportrider at the Ferrang conection restaurant, this is his website.

    www.farrangconection.awebspace.com

You will also find a list of attractions, hotels, and some good info, i think he has a good site.

  12. Sounds good, my thai family got about 680 85 kilo sacks, and me 200 my share, which was good, me also have 2 lakes to pump water, so drout does not effect us much the one lake is about a rai, and it never gets dry go's to the water table and stays there, then in the rainy season full to the brim, that rice came of our land about 70 rai, lets hope its good for 2005...................

  13. Dave at the Bamboo had a pool table in his bar (the bamboo bar), he use to get a lot of Thais in there playing, i think he also had to pay a tax for it, since then, i have bought it of him and it is in my house in Buriram, he did not sell it because of the tax, it was because he has moved back to the UK, for a couple of years.

I heard Dave had sold out to a Thai couple

At the moment dave is renting a flat of me in the UK, and his Thai Mrs works for me, they sold out to a ferrang and his Thai wife. his name is also Dave, he works in the uk and his Mrs runs the bar.

  14. I was wondering anybody knows where i can hire a Mini Digger in Buriram, there are plenty of hi-macs and kobotos, etc, but cannot seem to find a mini digger, i need it to dig out a 15 metre X 7 metre Koi pool in my garden, there is a lot of ledges etc to make and also a small island with a pagoda on, a JCB type would be two big, a mini one is easy to handle, i would appreciate any advise, going to do this project when in Buriram in middle of Feb. ...........thanks guys....

  15. Rice yields here this year were pathetic with i would say about an average of 10 per cent comparative yields.Just no rain for last months of so called rainy season.

Hi there, where in issan are you based, as where i have land just outside Buriram we had quite a good harvest, a lot better than 2003, lets hope this year is even better.
