  1. Just sharing some thoughts...

Walking around here for 15+ years and still getting more and more amazed how mega stupid they are, one can't believe !

Ofcourse when staying somewhere a long time your own perception changes too, but I think that's not the case here.

From the bottom to the top, it's everywhere ! On their grim unsatisfied faces you see a big 'M' as from McDonalds, just it has nothing to do with this multinational fat ass creators but it's the 'M' from Maipenrai... that actually means 'I don't give a shit' (about you, about myself, about my success, about my health, about my friends, about my country, about the law, about the world, just don't-give-a-shit)

As the world around them is developing, it just goes the opposite way... Where My Gosh this will end ???

  2. I'm living in pleasant 'red shirt town' and they are the most friendly people I know and very talkative when I do my shopping. Best Thai friend is a 'red shirt' who without foreigners would have no decent job. In my town I have never seen one picture or text, nor mentioned any discussion that refers to the things happening in Bangkok.

  3. Hi, I/m living in/ near ChiangMai for a 10 years or so and visit Phils very frequent.

Compared, Thailand is smooth and easy and safe. You won't see any armed guards and corruption won't touch you. In Bangkok you can more or less walk anywhere day or night without feeling unsafe. In the center of Chiangmai you still find simple but good and safe hotels starting 200-300p in stead of 30$. Far as I know they use no dollarprices at all.

Meaningful communication with locals however is hard to find, most of them don't speak English even university students have a communication problem. They usually talk about where you come from where do you go and have you eaten already. I don't know what climate you refer to but Chiangmai you can compare with most parts of Phils, daytime hot, nitetime chilly. CM is, at best, a dusty, polluted, congested city.

Life in Philippines is more a challenge there. I suggest forget Chiangmai and try the capital of Laos instead, its more interesting, a mix of Asian and mediterranean and much nicer people, high quality food and inexpensive, it has a nice boulevard along the Mehkong river and many beautiful buildings. For Chiangmai you don't need to bring your camera. Easy connection between both by air.

  4. ...and I miss the sea everyday. Most locals here seem to be affraid of the south, but ChiangMai has traffic accidents every 7 minutes (source: friend @ traffic police, and I survived 3 already)

Is it actually dangerous there (lot of bomb topics here !) and how you go along with the muslim community ? Guess they are nicer then Chiang Mai people, better manners, very hospitable etc.

Could you recommend living there and what are prices of houses/shops(rental) etc ?

What is tye best city ? Seen on Google Earth it looks like Pattani has a nice geographical map, with the sea reaching into the heart.

    All info welcome !

  5. manilalover.

do you mean these people ?

Nice pics from the idiots-slaves !

Real glad I don't live in the city anymore pukey.gif

Waiting for your wet tshirt close-ups ! :)

PS, they hand out free plastic sealbags to keep things dry, at the J&N Café/former Enjoy Place (go inside soi 2 right before Mandalay Racist Club/ at T-junction go right/ opposite 2nd T-junction)

  6. post-67161-1270882346_thumb.jpg I can't believe that I bought that stuff about the Thai people just sprinkling a liittle water on each other in the "good old days". :)

I agree with you very much, same here. But maybe the good old days are just a few decades further back in history, when they where driving T-Fords and horse carts, on this pics are many Jeeps visable so actually it's not that long time ago, just 4 decades, in Europe that was quitte a 'modern' time, perhaps here the same.

  7. I guess that means we won't be running into you. I think I'll get over that disappointment. :)

If it's that hard for you to overcome this is a forum where mature people share their different opinions, knowledge and experience on things, that sometimes might not be conform your personal opinion then I suggest you better look for another forum or perhaps a datingsite, however please stop replying to all my posts personally again and again, I'm not impressed by, nor interested in you, sorry.

    bye.gif

  8. Basically I love traditions and folkore and they should stay, but Songkran is way beyond 'a tradition' because it's clearly that the idiots think they should rule this days and shout as loud as they can.

What to think of emptyheads who pump water at motorcycles at already very dangerous intersections ? You think that is traditional, sane behaviour ? I don't think so. What you think of 400-600 deaths every year ? Why in Europe we have no deaths when we have festivals ?

The government shows a big management FAIL with this 'festival' (if 'management' already has been invented here) in Chiangmai the water annoyances already started, every year the same tattood bababobo whores in front of their bars at LoiKroh road, and few blonde lonely planet idiots who can wait 'going back to their youth' and already behave as if the city is one big kindergarten.

Sure people must have the right to enjoy, and the right to go completely out of their ceiling from time to time, but not for any price and not without loosing responsibility regarding safety of other people.

In Chiangmai they could close the innercity from cars, forbid pumping water along roads where they drive faster the 50km/h. And restrict it to 3 days and not 7 to 8 days like in Chiangmai, fine people who trespass safety rules, jail people who behave like drunk idiots, fighting and drive drunk for 2 weeks.

Then Songkran could become fun for everyone again.

Thailand has a serious lack of good moral and a weak backbone I hate that because it's pulling the whole country down on the fast track.

I would not mind if the muslims from the south take over the country asap and bring back order and progress !

Amen, whatever... enjoy happy and safe crazy days !

  9. It also shows that Songkran was ALWAYS fun!

Very mainstream thinking... for the other half it's defenitely no fun, more and more Thais (not only elderly) admit they don't like it.

Just a little less insane then the Indian Holy festival :)

Songkran: Buddha's big lottery... 400-600 people don't know yet they gonna die next week... You call that fun ??

This days I'm always extra happy with my 2 rai garden, internet and two full refrigirators ! :D:D

    Enjoy !

  10. Those not wishing to engage in sexual activity should stay in there homes

Then... where does 'it' happen ? At the campus / parks / friends home / back seat of car ?

Sounds like fun to me !

  11. I think it could be translated as:

    โค่นได้ชาติเจริญ

"Can over throw the government of the best country".

Moved to Thai Language forum for the guys who really know their stuff to have a look at it.

    Best country ? schater.gifsadley.gifpukey.gif

  12. why so negative manila

well do whatever you want, i'm far enough from it. hope you enjoy it a lot and don't leave any garbage in the nature ok.

perhaps you can utube a vid and post it here ?

have fun with the french !

    :)

  13. video on

'Many people injured, broken legs' why, because this seems like a kitchen fire, smoke coming only from one place.

Or has the fire expanded ? Then, why this happened if so many firetrucks present ?

  14. Just go to any street vendor and ask for "nam som." You will get a bottle or glass of fresh squeezed OJ with no pulp.

And why you think 'naam som' has no pulp ? Perhaps when you ask for 'naam som mai sai pulp' it works out better. Really I have bought several oj's on the street but they alsys have 'p'

Tssssss... this is gonna be a real pulp topic schater.gif
