  1. BANGKOK: -- Just as he was about to be dumped by the military and coalition partners, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva staged a comeback. He invoked the emergency decree, equivalent to martial law, to deal with the red shirts. Earlier, the military and coalition partners signalled that he must dissolve Parliament in 48 hours, otherwise they would withdraw support.
    Getting confused now confused.gif
Within this group, there are Maoists, socialists
<deleted> does China has a role in all this ???
Abhisit still hopes that by Songkran the situation will have cooled down.
Guess it's a matter of 'action' not one of 'hope' ??? emo.gif
  2. Just go to any street vendor and ask for "nam som." You will get a bottle or glass of fresh squeezed OJ with no pulp.

Not really, everything orange and liquid they call 'naam som' even Fanta. nooo.gif

  3. Its just a personal preference, that i dont really like little bits of orange floating around in the juice i am trying to drink. At the same time if you like pulp then go for it, but personally i just like the juice to be just that juice.

When pulp 'sacks' are floating and this means it's not real oj but made from concentrate with water added, like Malee, UFC and all the cheap ones. The oj concentrate comes from e.g. Spain in large barrels, the dried 'pulp' from Greece and the water has been added locally, also vitamines are added separately. It's messing around with food and don't like it, just when thirsty or a promotion I buy it. Most Tipco products are real and not made from contrate.

The real thing, fresh juice is squeezed not more then 3 minutes ago. When older then 10 minutes it's not fresh anymore and looses quality rapidly.

oj concentrate, to be frozen and shipped

  4. You could try the old Bears Den now reincarnated as PizzaMania located just a little way up stream from the Rimping Condo.

Quiet with ice cold beers; the food is ok and for somewhere to sit almost in the centre of town it works for me (sometimes).

I loved the Bear's Den. It was just a pity that few customers led to its closure. The Montri is one I've seen and heard about and will try soon.

When out for a diner, just keep in mind Montri is the kind of place where they are not able to serve 4 plates at once, and for some reason the Thai food comes always first while the rest will have to wait for another 20, 30 minutes, this can be very annoying or embarrasing when in company of guests.

Montri is best for some drinks and a talk with friends or just on your own with a book. Very relaxing open air lounge with great seats.

Tip: when in the evening bring mosquito lotion.

  5. well no actually this production is being put on by a french team. and alot of the sound equipment has been shipped over from europe. I think you might be surprised

    French ? sadley.gif

Had lot's of them in my café... they talk too much and drink too little. Nobody likes French even French don't like French..

  6. By the way, our Lamb Chops are pink, cooked or well done and are about 1/2 the price of certain 'fine dining' restaurants

    Lamb ? You mean you're eating child-animals ? emo.gif

hhmm ive got a soft spot for lamb shanks :)

    Culinairy pedophile !

(ps how did you embed that vid ??)

  7. Depends what location it is, if it's the pretencious kind where you may expect professional staff I will tell them I did not order this and politely give them back, simple. After all it's for their own benefit (but ok here they won't get the point and don't think in terms of quality and improvements but complain you're just another difficult farang, because thais can't do anything wrong as you know)

Loosing face is not an issue for me anyway, basically I have no respect for them and keep them short.

However, it's important always to keep the eyes open because there are still many who are very OK and deserve respect and loyalty. They understand their job, apologize and get you the right thing, no need at all to feel ph*ckd up, leave a tip for serious service.

But in general service has gone dramatically down the past years, they don't learn good manners anymore, smash the plate on your table without saying anything, the are not interested in you just looking the street when the next foodcart passes so they can buy something for themselves, eating sitting on the kitchen floor and forget their job for a while.

On a holiday in Malaisia they asked my 'why you live is that cowboy country ?'

Already started to sell everything, in the meanwhile going to the known good places there are still some that I will miss.

    :)

  8. No respect for Ram hospital. The only friendly people without a fake smile are the yellow dressed cleaning girls.

Totally wrong diagnosis could have cost me my life.

Doctors who give unclear answers to your questions or just a vague smile.

Reception staff who ask your passport as a deposit.

    Dual pricing.

A cassier who follows you to the ATM because you eventually could run away without paying etc. etc.

    Ram is garbage.

Wattana Udon is a world of difference, that people have brains and normal respect.

Stayed there because a gf in Vientiane had an accident and took her there, stayed for 5 days, compliments.
