  1. When you like ruins, see them both and beware that there is an entrance fee for foreigners that 10 times higher than what Thais pay.

You make it sound like visiting historical sites is too expensive for foreigners.

Last time in Lopburi my girlfriend paid 10 baht and I paid 50 baht.

Yes, I paid 5 times more, but still, it is a lot less than what you pay anywhere else in the world to visit something historical.

  2. I am planning a trip with my Thai girlfriend to Bagan in Myanmar next October.

I know I need a visa for this, but my girlfriend says she doesn't need one.

I can't find any information about visas for Thai people travelling to Myanmar.

Hoping anyone can shed some light on this matter.

  3. Only thing I've come across is california Wow at esplanade.

    Why not going there?

I go there and it's a real quality gym.

Don't get caught up in the whole personal trainer thing, you don't need that.

  4. They are very useful where I live in BKK.

It's a bunch of small sois and two cars passing eachother always get stuck.

At least here the tuk-tuks get you somewhere faster than a car.

Also, once you go outside the touristic areas, the drivers aren't that bad.

They just want to take you from point A to B like a taxi driver.

Nobody is being ripped off here.

  5. I arrived here last year with a tourist visa and no return ticket.

The guy at the immigration counter said nothing at all.

Stamped my passport and gave it back.

As long as you don't overstay any stamps it's no issue.

You can for instance arrive in BKK with a one way ticket and then travel over land to god knows where and take a return flight home in that place.

Apparently the people on TV don't travel a lot.

  6. Anyone in his twenties calling himself a polyglot better prove he is up to it.

I myself am in my twenties and speak and write four languages fluently.

My way of learning Thai is talking to people, I don't use any books.

Reading and writing will come when my speaking is at a sufficient level.

In my opinion, if you know how to say hello and how are you in any language, you don't know the language.

Languages are about a lot more than this. Apparently some people don't understand this and go bragging they speak 40 languages and can even learn a new one every three months.

I think this whole mission of our Irish friend shows a lot of disrespect towards linguists who take their jobs seriously.

  7. I was lucky enough everything fit in a taxi.

Taxi driver is a friend of my girlfriend and he was very happy with the 500 baht I gave him.

He only loaded everything in the taxi and at the destination he unloaded everything.

Mostly because I was unable to untangle the puzzle he created in his taxi :)
