  1. Just came back from the bike fest and booked me a CB500F.

Will be available end of April. I was number 17 on the list and after I asked, she confirmed it was a mixed list, I don't know if it was mixed of only the 500 models or all the bikes Honda is selling there.

But 17 sales after 9 hours of opening ain't that much. I think there are a lot of tire kickers there.

You must have been at a different motor show than me

I was there at 1.30pm yesterday and they had sold 83. CB500X

By the time I had completed my order 20 min later they were on 97 and I paid deposit on another one for a friend who was at work yesterday so we got the 83rd and 97th ones and they're was a line of thais standing waiting to order them as I was leaving

Build quality looks excellent but I'm sure the ones on display had many more hours of preparation just for the motorshow

    Apparently.

All I know is, I had number 17 at 7 in the evening and delivery will be end of April. That's all that matters to me actually :-)

  3. I've been riding an Fz1 since 2002. It's a super sport bike with comfort. Basically a r1 with a slightly de-tuned motor for better slow speed control. I fixed that. If you don't believe me, ask all the gsxr and cbrr riders I've dusted. Of course the rider helps but still. It was the 6th fastest production bike in the world the year my 02 was manufactured. Beware the fazers!

the royal thai police have a brand new fz1 in white colour

i was shocked when i seen it today in silom rd

gorgeous bike ,even with the police graffiti plastered all over it it looked great

definately consider an fz1 if i needed another bike but i have more bikes than i

have time to use them at the moment sad.png

Wow! Really? That's an awfully big bike for a lil Thai cop to handle. How do his feet hit the ground? Must have modified the suspension dogbones or he's wearing high heels. You sure it's an FZ1? It's kind of a "tall bike".

Not every Thai cop is a midget.

  4. Put my side stand down and got off my bike. Unfortunately my side stand wasn't down so my bike fell against my left leg and knocked me over. My left leg saved my bike from any damage but my left knee wasn't too happy about being twisted and crushed by 150+ kgs into the concrete floor, I could barely walk for 2 days. To add to my embarrassment this happened at the ESSO petrol station with a load of bemused Thais looking on at the stupid farang.

same thing happened to me, but in my fall I knocked over a honda click parked next to me. Cost me a couple of hundred baht in repairs, my bike was fine, the click had a broken mirror and a broken indicator.

  5. Just keep in mind that thanon rot fai is one way for certain periods of the day. In the morning you can only go towards At Narong and between 4 and 7 pm you can only go towards Sanphawut.

Which is what makes it so good to use. No traffic lights and only 2 lanes of traffic means that a bike never stops moving at the tidal times. If you know the whole route, you can get from Bang Na to Sathorn and only meet 3 sets of lights.

That, plus the lack of police is a bonus.

Not good for me, I need it in the other directions at these times.

  6. This morning at 10:30 police were stopping motorbikes at Suan Sirikit, coming from Rama 4 towards the Asok junction.

    Didn't stop me though :-)

I have seen roadblocks almost every day during the day in Samut Prakan, because the ban on roadblocks was only for BKK, same should go for Nonthaburi, never had a ban.

  7. This has been covered many times over already. Instead of directing people to your other posts take some time to read other people posts in the same subject.

And i covered it once more. And i will reflect my ideas anytime necessary for me. Do you have a problem with it?

Lots of first comers or beginners are here so they need to be enlightened.

  8. I thought I would test out what I've been told by owners of unregistered bikes and joined a few friends on a 2 day trip this weekend around north Thailand, there were six of us on six bikes and only two had plates/green books, I borrowed my friend's DRZ400SM.

We departed Chiang Rai Saturday morning and arrived back late yesterday afternoon and travelled through numerous small and large towns including Thoeng, Phayao, Phrao, Fang and Mae Chan and must have gone through at least eight checkpoints and none stopped us, questioned the lack of plates or asked for papers. Yesterday lunchtime we stopped for coffee on the 118 and another group of bikes also stopped, they were all Thai and on a ride from Chiang Mai. When I'd stopped drooling over the 1199 Panigale that was with them I also asked them if they ever have any problems as most of them weren't registered either, they said they don't apart from the occasional 200baht fine in Chiang Mai for no tax and assured me that if a bike has import & excise tax papers it can't legally be confiscated and if it were to happen they were sure you would get it back, one guy was a lawyer so knows what he was talking about.

So based on what I've been told, and now what I've experienced myself, there are many places here where riding an unregistered bike isn't a problem and the conclusion in the previous post (For case #2: Big problems as the bike isn't legal to be on the road (but is legal in Thailand? ie. off-road/track etc.) isn't correct.

The checkpoints in that area are to check for illegal immigrants. They don't give a rat's ass about bikes or cars.

  9. I went to big wing today to pre order mine today. I have to wait until the end of April for it. Also test drove it at Honda and the bike is amazingly smooth. It's like floating on a cloud, it's so soft. I couldn't get it out of 2nd gear because of the little test space that they have at Honda but it has some amazing power.

Can you only test drive the CBR or do they also have the F available?

  10. Ditto, just came back from a run from Bangkok through Loei to Nong Khai, and benzine was everywhere OUTSIDE of Bangkok. Actually sitting right now trying to think of where to go around Onnut to fill up one of my bikes on benzine. It is disapearing fast here, but still everywhere outside the city.

There is a PTT station just past Sukhumvit 62, at Bang Chak, still has it too.

I don't think that PTT has it anymore

They did on Saturday when I filled up my tank.

  12. Well today I almost hit a farang. First with the bike and after with my fists. I did say almost. He was just walking in between cars that were stuck in traffic, not thinking about oncoming motorbikes.

I had to brake real hard not to hit him, he didn't even notice me. I honked the horn and he looked straight through me as if I wasn't even there and just kept walking.

If he keeps this up he will end his holidays in hospital.
