  1. Did you know that you can accurately categorize people by what (marmite or vegemite) they have on their toast.
Both are aborrations of taste, relating to mouldy soapdodgers and the offspring of exconvicts, the nam plaa of the deprived and the depraved, respectively, so to speak.
  2. 18k in Thailand tends to be more expensive than the local 22/23k, and kindda hard to find. Shouldn't be a problem to get the weight and work out the gram price. The price displayed in the shops is for 1baht=15.4 g of 23k, a labour charge will be added to that. For 18k the pricing is different, it relates to the individual piece.

  3. - More troops. Good. This won't solve the situation, but would make remaining Buddhists at least slightly safer, and be a deterrent. Turks solved the Kurdish problem by repression, it woks fine sometimes, but you have to be an important ally of a superpower.

    - Mass detentions. You have to let them go, right? Mass repression and deportations of the whole populace (with support of the U.S., of course, otherwise the world might cry "human rights") are a reliable way to solve things, terribly inhumane as they are... provided they have somewhere to be deported, without causing more damage.

More troops: Sure, let's invite the US, it will be 'with us or against us' to 'liberate' the South from Muslims.

Mass detentions: Since there is nowhere to deport them to, better help them with their fasting and let them die as a result of weakness, eh?

  4. Better bring your kettle along for boiling water instead of the lukewarm thermo supply to brew the tea, as well as your own mug if you want to be served more than half-filled coffee cup at a time. You can secure your supply of milk here.

To summarize: amazing Thailand does not offer the full Brit experience for tea addicts, this is a developing country which sadly lacks knowledge and expertise in the most relevant areas of advanced civilisation. :o

  5. Maybe we should start a forum branch for Previously banned users so they can fight in peace there  :D Something like the Vip Forum, maybe we could call it alcatraz :D

:o:D And the rules for admission shall be clearly laid out, only hardened combatants with previous ban records allowed. :D
  6. if it is then it sucks big time, they feel they have to close a whole country so they can have a few beers and run up expence accounts on bar girls in "safety". The parnoia is reaching momentus levels, makes people trigger happy, see Tak Bai

There is plenty of rebel/insurgent activity in Laos, the border closing is so that YOU or other clueless tourists won't be in the firing line during this event, which is seen as aprovocation and/or oppotunity by militant opposition groups.
  7. Came to believe that a power higher than myself could restore me to sanity :o

'George' is not going to save any individual, his concern is for the development of TV as a whole. Some of the guardian spirits (mods) have been known to make a mercy-killing on occasions, though, specially on posters in the last, selfdestructive stages of addiction. Watch out, maiC! :D
  8. Now I am getting confused. I know the difference between white and brown rice, also the broken red served in prison, and some varieties of red in the same price bracket as premium white.

Now what is this kao horm mali daeng? My gf says it's a variety of sticky rice.

Or is it the long grain 'black' or 'wild' rice which is quite a new thing?

  9. If your posting rights have been revoked, you would normally recieve a PM or email from the moderator who revoked them. This communication would normally explain why the action was taken.

Unfortunately, what would "normally" be done is not universally adhered to, if the number of people who have been suspended without any exlanation that have come to my attention is anything to go by. Sometims, it is obvious reading these posters last few comments why such action was taken, but often it is not so obvious to the poster themselves.

I kindly request to observe rules of courtesy when wielding the stick.

  10. Fair enough, I guess this is where the argument can't go further.

From your first post, it is clear that you know your preparing this type of defense is illegal in many countries, and you would have difficulties obtaining a license in Thailand as well, if it is officially possible for foreigners at all. Ownership of guns without license is criminal. Be prepared for the consequences of any illegal actions and of the state taking measures to protect society from criminals.

In your own words, "they need to be destroyed".

  11. A lot of the more colourful characters crowding the bars into the wee hours are not be found amongst the teen/office crowd who go home early.

Gangs of brown boys harrass customers. I haven't been out much after I was subjected to a thorough bodysearch and having to explain myself a few months ago.

  12. Genarally speaking, Thais have an astute sense for moods and detecting nuances, subtle and not so subtle in the emotional attitudes of those they interact with. They can 'smell' farangs with a condescending 'higher than thou' attitude and insulting aggressive behavior miles away. They will start making comments and cracking jokes at the expense of the same such jerk walking pass them everyday.

Don't take Chaz's rant serious, unless you fit into the category of lager louts or 'superior' Westerners with an attitude problem.
