  1. 785K baht don't sound attractive to me at all if you can get a Yamaha MT09 for 435K baht.

Well that is not the right price anyway (hopefully).

If somebody try arranging a factory trip is there any chance we can do it after the 20th Dec as I am still overseas working untill then?

Somebody on rideasia.net seems to know more than we do here, whispers have been heard at 550K baht for the new Tiger and some bikes will cost around 400K baht (Boneville??)

    http://www.rideasia.net/motorcycle-forum/triumph-motorcycles/6474-triumph-cuts-new-boi-tax-deal-thailand.html

Good info, hopefully to be confirmed at the Motor Expo.

As for the factory tour,I've only got a week left here and moving as home well.

Very unlikely now for me, but I'll be back in January.

If that's too late for some?,no problem.

If anyone else is going to the show, have a word with Britbike there. He seemed very helpful on the phone.

But I'm quite prepared to organise a trip with the help of Britbike for January,I personnel's want to check out their quality control etc here, before I spend my hard earned cash.

  2. Halifax charge £9.50 to transfer funds internationally via their website and the Thai receiving Bank will charge a min of 200Baht,but it's capped at 500Baht.

As advised make sure you transfer £ and do not use any UK Banks Thai exchange rate, much better rate in Thailand.

HSBC only charge £4,but that may be a Limited offer. My friend transferred £40,000 and no charge to receive the funds(unless hidden in the exchange rate)using HSBC,it takes about 3 working days the 1st,quicker after that.

That's if you have any of those accounts, nationwide used to charge £25(now £20?)for a swift transfer.

You will need the Thailand branch address as well as the account number.

Bangkok Bank in London, can transfer into a holding account in any branch and you can pick it up as your leisure. For about £20,again send in £,not Thai Baht.

  3. Gentlemen, an update from Britbike.

The chap on the phone, said the prices have been already reduced, but not on their website until the end of the month!.

He wouldn't tell me the new prices over the phone, however he did say the Classic style(Bonnie,Thruxton etc),Tiger and the street Triple will have the biggest reductions and the Scrambler less so.Not the rest of the range?.

He also said the Scrambler may stop production next year(a bit strange with Ducati launching theirs!).

And they will have the new improved 2015 model Tiger.

I also asked about a factory tour and he said it was unusual, but they could possibly help arrange a visit to Triumph.( there are more than 2 factory's).

He will be at the show on Saturday and he was obviously busy today.

  4. So, is anyone going to the show in BKK on Friday that can report cast iron details about the new prices ( preferably with photo"s of the new Triumph price list?)[/quote

I'm thinking about going, but the website says the 29th,but post #91 states the 28th for the announcement, according to Britbike. Are Triumph/Britbike announcing the price reduction before the Motor Expo show?.

I'll willing go to Britbike and/or the show,to take photos of the new price list etc.

I'll call Britbike tomorrow,to confirm the exact date and possible Factory tour.

But I might need numbers etc.

  5. I'm not serious about buying one, but I would love to visit the factory. Maybe we can arrange a tour?

I did visit the Triumph factory ......,Meriden,back in 1976 on my T100R,one saturday morning, remember it if it was last week.

I heard last week from a local Thai guy , that a Triumph was going to be about 4000,000 bart,I thought I misheard him.

    Good news if it true.

    .

Could make my retirement day :-),750,000 no,but possibly 400,000 up.

    Happy days

That's when I brought my T140V,last of the right foot gear change.

And as we saw earlier, their doing a similar colour scheme now. Cherokee Red and Ivory? White, then.

  6. We just need someone who takes charge in organizing it...

    Maz? :-)

I could, but going back to the UK early Dec for about a month.

I'm in Kanchanaburi at the moment, but back to Bangkok on Tuesday until the 30th.

How about late next week?,possibly even the weekend(if they allow visits then?).

I'm based in Udonsuk, very near the BTS and willing to drive(sorry,no bike here yet) to the factory. Are there 2 factories now?, I read on here somewhere there's a 2nd.

I know the one near the 7(Bangkok to Chonburi)Expressway.

Any takers?, if so I'll call Britbike again.

    Cheers Maz

  7. Fingers crossed.

Heart says another Scrambler (last one was 1961 Tiger cub)

    Head says Tiger XR(x)

Good point,I'd almost forgotten about the Scrambler,do Britbike allow

    any test rides?.

Also,I asked about a Factory tour, anyone do it?. They said if I was serious about buying a Triumph,it could be arranged!

  8. they said Thruxton will not be more than 500 K THB so i assume they will reduce the prices a lot.

So, if that is true it means a price reduction of more than 250 K THB!

Hope they decrease the prices 250 k THB for all:)

and that makes Triumph Tiger 800 550 k THB which is nearly the same with BMW GS 800!

If the Thruxton will be under/approx 500,000,that's about 100,000 more than the UK.

Is that still because of higher Taxes here or someone making extra profit, knowing the expensive market here?.

I stopped off at Britbike in Rangsit and was told the price list will be out on 28th November.

Also 450k for the Thruxton - will need to wait until the 28th to be sure.

Good man,if what they told is correct,it might make the Bonnie 400,000ish.

As its about 50,000 cheaper than the Thruxton in the UK,but we all know about TIT.

The Thruxton is a great looking bike, but I don't think my bad back and dodgy leg could cope with one! ;-(

Another Bonnie or maybe a Tiger would be very nice.

  10. Who doesnt want money?? Why is it so bad to decrease the prices so that some other souls would be flattered as well. Why does owning a Triumph or whatsoever have to be privilege?

Poor those fellas with thicker wallets wont be showing off that they ride expensive bikes which are not significantly different than other brands in terms of technology, speed, safety or any other factor.

I hope Triumph decreases the prices so that many others who dreams for it can also buy.

I like many others(I assume),hope they do reduce their prices to compete with say Ducati etc.

I know we have to pay a premium over UK prices, but approximately double,is a hard pill to swallow and we all have our own budgets.

Triumph like everyone in business, has to make money. But between them, britbike and import taxes, the price is too high for normal mortals.

  11. I brought one last year from Eagle GPS in Chiang Mai,just make sure it has the software update.

This cures the freezing problem with the screen.

This model does not store your used routes, but you can enter waypoints.

It's better than mine and my friends Toyota GPS,which seems to want to take the long way round!.

  12. I tired to get the Certificate of Residence from Chang Wattana(Bangkok) IMM Office and they will only issue one, after your 1st 90 day report.

    (I'm on a Tourist Visa)

I brought a Truck from Toyota by going to the local Amphoe and getting a letter confining my address, this required the Headman as a witness to state I lived at that address.

This was accepted by Toyota (they were registering and taxing the vehicle).

My Embassy(British) want 2,520 for the certificate, it cost me 50Baht at the Amphoe and no charge from the headman(his duty he said),good man. Got him some whisky anyway, which he really didn't want to take, very refreshing.

Tired to get a Yellow book at the same time, but no good without a Affirmation of Freedom to Marry!,. I'M happily divorced.

    Good luck

  13. The girl that run out Infront of him might have helped too. Only for LOS that could be replaced by various other species

I thought it was some boys on bicycles, but the same unfortunate result.

And according to Wikipedia (I know)his death, ultimately led to research into crash helmets.

I'm not against advancement, especially safety equipment. Without ending up looking like a Michelin Man!,but a lot of riders want some soul in their bikes.

My range of bikes has been very varied, British, Italian and Jap,from 49cc to 750's. I even nearly brought a Harley a few years ago,a nice sportster.

My favourite was a 1975 Triumph Bonnie T140V,not the fastest or best handling and it leaked oil a bit,but I didn't care.

    Wish I still had it!

We all have different tastes and requirements, shame some numbnuts start a slagging match, about who's got the best bike or biggest cock etcetera.

It should be just about the bikes.

Like the old saying,no such thing as bad beer, just some are better than others.

  14. Last Time I flew Pakistani Airlines was about 30 years ago. Had a bottle of Southern Comfort down the side of the seat to get me through that ordeal.

Same as me in 1986,but mine was 1.5L or 2L(can't remember for some reason)of Black Label Smirnoff.

But there was 4 of us,1st time to LOS,never flown on them again or anyone similar and I worked for a Airline for 30 years.

Standards are getting lower everywhere I'm afraid

  15. I heard that the dealer for Thailand kept those high prices because he wanted Triumph bikes to be a luxery item for the selected few.

Perhaps Triumph UK have pulled the plug on this guy as Ducati did, and just see how well Ducati Thailand are doing now.

This has nothing to do with artificially inflated prices and everything to do with taxation.

It's to do with both. Unless Yamaha are selling the MT-09 at a loss.[/quote

Probably is both,I heard somewhere that Britbike wanted to keep their profit high per bike.

The quote was,why sell 500/1000 bikes, when you can get the same money for selling 50/100. Makes business sense for them, but I hope Triumph have realised they can sell a lot of bikes here at the right price.

  16. Went to see the Versys 1000cc this morning, looks good, felt very comfortable, big bike!! Versys 650 not come until next month!

Also saw the Versys 1000 today, and as much as it pains me to say it, if Honda doesn't release an adventure style/touring bike in the 800-1000cc range I'll have to buy that Kawi for my next bike.

Comfortwise my CB500X has been great. Excellent mileage and it's never let me down. But I definitely want something that has a bit more oomph that will still allow me to loaf along.

honda has it here as vfr1200x crosstourer.

very good reviews, great engine, style, single sided nice looking swingarm, cross spoked rims and lots of tech but again not cheap at 860 k THB still honda bigwing says they sell this model well.

I thought about it. But, as you said, it's not cheap...I can have the Versys 1000 and my CB500X with 15,000 baht left in my pocket! That's a lot of fuel-some 12K km on the 500X. smile.png

There's also the issue of weight. Kerb weight is listed at 288kg. That's almost 40kg more than the Versys. Granted, on the Versys if I would take it touring with the missus, I'd be looking at some 450kg with loaded panniers and top box, I really wouldn't want to stretch that out to almost 500!

Triumph is reducing its prices most probably so Tiger 800 or Tiger explorer might come at good prices.

Also please check Suzuki V Strom 1000:

    http://www.thaisuzuki.co.th/bigbike/home.php?id_product=145&type=information#information

it is 698 K THB not a lot more than versys 1000 and it is only 228 kg wet. Much more of an ADV/touring bike than versys especially with that grunty v twin!

    looks good:

    14_Suzuki_VStrom1000_3.jpg

ll2,do you know what the new Triumph prices will be or when they will be reduced?.

    Cheers
