  1. Depending on what type of visa you came over on will depend if you are taxed or not . If you are relocating here with the proper visa you are allowed one shipment of personal items within the first 6 months of your stay . Now will they consider your items personal in nature thats another question , If they dont yes you ll get taxed and it wont be fun .... I shipped 5 boxes with all sorts of things and did not have any tax to pay . But I sent all this while I was still in the USA . My guess is you would be better off getting what you need here ....

  2. It depends on which section you are in . If its the older section its 400 baht a month plus your water bill which is generally around 200 baht . The use of the pool for home owners is 30 baht per day . If its the newer section they charge by square wah and the average is about 700 baht a month . Your water is charged by the water company and Im not sure of the costs. I do know the new sectioned homes are all equipt with an alternate water tank and pump . This all may change soon as Rungarroon company has sold all of their plots and are turning the Moo baan over to either Hang Dong or the home owners . A vote on that is set for this month . So all could change along with the current services the moo baan provides I did hear Rungarroon will keep the Club house and the pool .......

If you have any more questions PM me

  3. I dont know what the problem is but the last few days my service has been the craziest ever . I can log on no problem most web pages take forever to load pictures dont come up thats if I can get internet explorer to even start up . I have Tot and thats probably the problem ... Sometimes real good sometimes real bad .....

  4. Well going to try this place today , if its the quality of Diablos I doubt I will be disapointed .......... Craving good BBQ pork sandwich and cole slaw .........

My wife and I had the pulled pork sandwich it was very good , the sauce which they give all you could possibley want was spicy and good . Brought home some ribs to try out . Enjoyed the meal . I will be much better when they finsih inside and the road construction is finished . I will say for 85 baht for the plates of food we got was well worth the money . I ll go back for sure . Service was excellent ......Feel a little sorry for the waitress through the wife paid the bill and left the tip ..................

  5. I love snakes, just I never saw one live in Thailand, only in Zoo. My neighbors tell me they see many snakes in the gardens, not sure why I never see one. Snakes are less danger then dogs; I never understand why people kill them, if she is close to your house, take here alive far away but don’t kill here.

Note: You should not try to touch here with hands if you don’t know how to do it.

That banded krait will kill you dead. Snakes are all around Thailand (in the country, anyway). If you never see them, you are a good candidate for a snake bite, notwithstanding your love. They don't love you.

"Snakes are less danger then dogs." Not exactly sure what you meant by that. The risk of being bitten by a dog is 100's of times greater than being bitten by a snake. But the risk of being killed by a dog is pretty low. How are you defining "danger"? Would you rather be bitten by a rabid soi dog or that krait?

    Kill them all, I say.

I aggree with you 100% the only good snake I have seem was dead in the road ..... Or in a zoo ... Snakes and rats I dont like ........

To pose another question to the group does anyone know which hospitals carry the anti venum drugs in Chiang mai ......

  6. Today while sitting in the living room with the wife I watched a snake slither along our double doors and under our screen door into the house . Not sure what kind it was but it was about 3 feet long brown and seemed to have a blue stripe running the lenght of his body . As far as Im concerned they are all deadly .

We got him outside with some long poles and closed the doors . I will be on my way to Big C and get a few bags of moth balls . I have been told this works and I shared it with another friend here and he has not seen a snake since . Prior to that he had one sunning on his front steps a few days in a row .....

    Anythings worth a try ..

  7. Im sure she had no idea what it was she was returning

    So, what was it? blink.png

Well if you must know it was a can of chewing tobbaco ..... Not the kind you buy here .. So its value to me was priceless ......

Could be your sub conscious telling you to stop. Considering you have left it behind before.thumbsup.gif

Well when there gone there gone ........

  8. So often on this forum I read complaints about Thai people and how they treat farrangs . I just thought I would post something possitive . I had lunch today with an out of town friend at the Dukes in the night bizzar . The waitress was very nice and her service outstanding . The food was great too . After we ate we left I walked out and down the street to my motor bike . While standing there at my bike the waitress comes rushing down the sidewalk to return an item of mine I had left on the table . I have been to other places and left the same item only to return and find it missing in action and no body knows anything ..... Im sure she had no idea what it was she was returning, but the jesture was something you dont often see !!!

    Thanks !

  9. Chili peppers crushed in water in a spray bottle works wonders too just make sure you dont spray into a fan pointing at you . Make sure you have it set to stream at least a distance of 6 to 7 feet . Good to keep abouta four foot bamboo club/ stick handy too. With a knife you must get to close to the person plus I want him out of the house not laying bleeding on my floor ....

  10. Yes! Lost the connection on Thursday last week. ToT answer......"problem in the area, will be fixed tomorrow". Short version of the drama; no internet Friday, Saturday, Monday & half of Tuesday. Nothing but lies and excuses in over 30 phone calls to the ToT center, the best one ...... "unable to connect with the (yes the only one tec guy in all of CNX) but your case is on process". Unable to connect.......phone & communication company, hello?

3B came buy this morning and installed the line & router......just waiting for the signal. Bye, bye incompetent, arrogant ToT. Can’t wait to call the service center in BKK and say “can you see me as your customer”. “No?, Let me tell you why”! whistling.gif

I can log on but its slower than a dial up . Been off and on for months but I ve put up with it . But now its so slow its not even good to use ....

  11. You don't say what part of Samui you are looking at - huge differences in both price and what you get for it once you move out of Chaweng.

Samui Mermaid is is Bang Rak, on the beach, and has AirCon rooms for 600-700B (used to be - need to check) - prices start at 499B.

IBIS is on the edge of Bo Phut and Mae Nam, on the beach, and does specials that are not much more than 1,000B a night for TV and aircon, depending on the season. This is probably the most cost-effective out of town resort I've come across.

Mae Nam has wooden huts for 500B a night or AirCon bungalows right on the sand for 1,500B.

Tell us more about what and where . . .

    R

With Samui Mermaid the cheaper rooms are on other side of the "tracks" --- road...wink.png price guess is about right, from what I remember (SM is OK I've known people who have stayed there... food good too) beach area ... but Maenam is better!

In Maenam, there are lots of places along the beach pretty decent.... and not wood huts! Starting around 800 baht a night, more or less... AC TV etc...

As Rob says tell us more of what you want!

Maenam is quieter than other places like Chawang, but that suits some people... and it's not empty, even now! All age groups too....

We are wanting to stay on the beach somewhere close where we can walk to some good places to eat . I hate to be stuck somewhere and have to eat hotel food constantly . We plan to take some boat trips during the day but at night we enjoy going out for dinner and mainly eat Thai food and sea food . Dont want to spend more than 3000 baht a night if we can help it. Not drinkers so we could careless where the cloest bar is ......

On our last trip we went to River Kwai booked through Agoda what appeared to be a nice hotel on the river . Got there and it was a dive just short of being a short time hotel .. Could not get a refund so we were stuck for 4 days there . Im just trying to keep that from happening this time !!!

  12. The wife and I are planning to come down to Samui second week in July . Looking for a nice hotel on the beach thats also close to some good places to eat and things to see.

Not looking for the Ritz Carlton just something nice and clean and safe ... Can someone give me some sugestions ?

  13. The wife and I ate there a couple weeks ago . I was not impressed with the food and wont go back ........ I will say I did not get sick !!! Well a little when I looked at the bill ....... Atmosphere is nice and the staff was nice but I went to eat good food and left disapointed ........
