  1. I had the same thing happen to me on my first trip back from Thailand severe pain in the calf area . I thought it was just a cramp but then it didnt go away . Went to my doctor who sent me straight to the ER . They did an ultra sound found the clot . They wanted me to stay in the hosptial but I refused so they sent me home gave me needles to inject in the stomach twice a day and a nurse came by everyday and checked my blood for two weeks. I was basically couch bound . My doctor put me on 10 mg of warfin daily . They never ran the test on me for Factor V. When I came to Thailand my doctor ran it and sure enough I had it . Never had a problem with clots after that and have made the same trip many times . I just make sure I take my meds drink plenty of water and get up every hour and walk around . Its nothing to play with and had I known how serious it was I probably would have let them admit me ...

Also it turns out all my brothers have it as well seems it is mainly passed from mother to son . I started out on cumadin after a couple of months my doctor changed me to warfin and my problem with sore feet stopped .....

  2. Had same thing happen to me we asked our builder to move the house from the plans one meter left , he moved it one meter right . We didnt notice it until the roof were done so to late to do anything about it ... When we told the builder he looked at it and said I measured it myself shook his head said mai pen rai and smiled . I just smiled back and laughed not much else you can do ... Mistakes happen and I see it as much my fault as his I should have got out the measuring tape before the colums were poured ....

  3. I met a couple officers in Phuket they had been on about a year . There pay was 8000 a month with free housing and medical . Spoke with a ranking officer in the south with well over 20 years in his pay was 28,000 per year . Now also understand they must buy all thier own gear as well .... But I do see many living way beyond what there income shows . So go figuire ..

  4. Skippie,

I'm not sure what "run the show' means but if you and your wife are foreigners you need at least a 4 million Baht Thai company with 8 employees to get 2 work permits. One foreigner needs a 2 million Baht company and 4 Thai workers.

To get cook staff and wait staff you need to put up a sign on your place and see who walks in the door. Once you develop a core staff you can ask them to get some other staff for you. Maybe friends or other staff they have worked with in the past. Do not hire kids that apply around April as they are students who will lie that they are not students and they will leave around or after Songkran. Hire hilltribe and get a Burmese quota and hire Burmese, as many as you can.

You are not going to hire the Burmese on the side of the road south of JJ Market. There is a reason they do not have steady jobs in a town looking for workers. Drunks, drug addicts and whatever.

Women are a better hire than men. That includes Burmese, Thai and hill tribe. Sorry but it is a fact. We might as well be in Mexico, same thing. The Thai and the Mexican women carry the men in both countries. Without them, forget it. That is why Thai women go on to run some of the more successful companies.

I usually charge for business advice and I sometimes get paid. I also give advise that is regularly ignored. Go home, make some money and come back here and spend it.

I will say you have great waitresses so what ever your doing works ....

  5. I did mine based on marrage last month . Although I dont have a yellow book with my name in it I always have to provide a current copy of my lease . This has been required every year for the past three years . Plus the pictures standing in front of the house showing the house numbers ..... We also bring a copy of my wifes house registration which shows her name change .... Oh and the map too

  6. I ve done three extentions in Chiang mai . Had one home visit never once have I ever even had a hint of them ever wanting tea money ... When they came to my house all they were concerned about was that I had a third party present that could take a picture of them with us so they could proove they acually came and checked .... Sound like they saw you coming . ..... Now if your papers were not in order thats another story...

  7. 1.5million is your budget?...... you will get nothing but a basic lump of concrete on a tiny plot of land in a noisy unpleasant Hood.

    Good Luck.....

    Total rubbish.

For example, in certain parts of Hang Dong, near the police station, it is possible to buy a nice plot of land almost half a rai in size for about 400 to 500 thousand baht and have a fair sized home built that you can design yourself for approx 700 to 800 thousand baht, maybe cheaper depending on the quality of building materials used. That’s exactly what my wife’s cousin done who is married to an Irish guy, only 8 months ago and I very much don`t that the prices have increased since then.

Avoid the rip-off farang priced real estate agents and those advertised in the classifieds, as most of them are well over priced.

Once you find a desirable plot of land, it is always easy to find the local builders.

Would love to find 1/2 rai for that amount even a Rai Cash sitting in the Bank smile.png I will have to take a drive around see if I can fine some land like that I am being quoted 4 Million for a Rai in Hang Dong and between 7-12000 baht per square Wah, this is calling the numbers on the for sale signs

So anyone out there that has something like Beetle is on about PM me

    DK

Good luck finding a plot for that low a price. Hand Dong is not as cheap as it once was. Half a rai around Kad farang between 1.8 and 2.5 million these days. Unless you want to go bush that is.

Its not there best we found was behind the Hang Dong hospital 7700 per sqw and we looked long and hard . If you want land or a home close to town you are going to pay a prime price ....

  8. Everyones a realitor if you ask them if they know of land for sale .... and you are correct about the realtors they are going to add 3 to 5 percent to what you can buy it for .... Best find the land , go to land office find who owns it and deal with them direct ....

...even people working in land office are 'realtors'...

I know that first hand , when we went to the land office to find out who owned the property we wanted to buy . Lady at land office said she would look it up for us . She called the next day and told us the price but never gave us the phone number . We got the number on our own called bought the property no 3 percent to the land office realtor ..... Funny thing was when we went to transfer got the same lady , some funny looks but not a word said .... She did get 500 tea money from us though ,,, only fair ..

Im not sure where you are speaking of but we checked that area with a fine tooth comb the cheapest lot we found was 2 k from the market 280 wah and 980,000 baht . Good price but not a good place for a farrang to build so we passed . Land in that area now is expensive outside moobaan 8 thousand per wah was the average and the high was 16,000 per wah ... Bargins are around you just have to get out and look and ask ... Everyones a realitor if you ask them if they know of land for sale .... and you are correct about the realtors they are going to add 3 to 5 percent to what you can buy it for .... 10. As above, buy online. Mate of mine who's 'in the business' buys most stuff online and wonders why ppl don't do same. 555
