E20 is fine for most motorbikes, and use it for our scooter, and  my cbx500. Crf runs on E10 same as my 1000

    Thanks for that.

Just bought a new Toyota car and they strongly advised against E20.

Suprised me as I have driven about 140 tkm on E20 with old Mazda 2.

Old Honda scooter allows only E10 according to the filler cap sign.

  2. E10 is sold as "Gasohol 95" which should answer your question.

    10% ethanol, 95 octane.

Where do you see "E10" on the signs?

I am not aware that any popular scooter or motorbike produced in Thailand would not run on Gasohol 95. Can't tell whether your model is happy with Gasohol 91 (91 octane, 10% ethanol).

E20 is not specified/recommended for most motorbikes.

What does the sign at the filler cap say?

Pure petrol (benzene) without ethanol is quite rare nowadays only at major filling stations.

Some historic/vintage models seem to depend on.

    It is not True's fault

    Maybe it is.

Just did a test to the same server with my 3BB fiber.

Of course there is still no news about completion of the undersea cable works.

But 0.13 download is exception. Just bad luck with True?

    Soi Honey Inn

Soi Honey is an extreme case.

If two big vehicles meet it's a spectacle.

Such a narrow path in a busy area should have never been a two way.

Soi Diana was not that bad in the past.

But since they build this aesthetic masterpiece of a wall bordering The Edge condo it has become really bad. Again bigger vehicles can hardly pass there.

Getting your own plate at the DLT is simple, if you had the necessary paperwork (Registration Kit) from the dealer, which they don't have as the manufacturer won't release it to the dealer until they've been paid, hence  the delay

That's interesting and in line with my suspicion. Better keep the money on their account than on mine or the manufacturer's account.

So saying I won't pay before the sign plates are ready will not work.

Where is the factory outlet

I bought a new car 2 yrs ago. No red plates given, drove that way for months till plates came in. No problem. Drove through checkpoints, no problem.

    That's a real life story.

I have the insurance policy and now a copy of the paid invoice.

Still don't feel too good doing distant travel.

May even go on my old car which is well maintained (just had 160 tkm service).

But not nice to have 700k dead capital in the garage?

On a phone call today it was estimated that the proper sign plates would take four weeks.

    Again somewhat shady.

A mate had a "request for waiver" letter to "all officials" from Nissan.

The letter has the details about the purchase and registration being done by the dealer.

  7. Probably the most corrupt sports organization meets in Thailand.

    That fits to the atmosphere.

Infantino from the same mountainous Swiss canton as his predecessor Blatter who is banned from the organization for proven cases of corruption.

Infantino arrogant and corrupt like his predecessor in my opinion.

If you paid cash, hound them to get the plate to you as soon as possible, in the future, you can ask that the car be delivered fully registered,

That's what I will do tomorrow. Insist on expedited registration.

In the meantime I get accustomed to Thai style and wait for the fine to come or not.

As long as insurance is OK I don't loose sleep.

This is an "I've got a new car thread" surely! I can't believe you don't know that you need red plates.

I had red plates and logbook on my first car 12 years ago.

And that is WHY I started the thread.

No need to play clever dick.

If you read trough the thread you see that the situation is not unusual.

I have heard that a bunch of scoundrels, liars and thieves hang out at -

    That's white collar 😁

  11. There have always been lists/maps about crime hotspots in Bangkok.

Nice one from 2022 found at Bangkok Post. Not allowed to link here.

Google for "bangkok crime map" and you should see it.

    Worst "Bang" is Bang Rak.

There were list from police with roads prone to drug dealing, petty crime...

  12. Picked up my new car at the Toyota dealer today, fully paid.

There is an insurance policy in my name and frame number of the vehicle.

But as usual the car is not yet registered at the DLT (signed a power of attorney for the dealer) and sign plates might take a while.

Dealer insured that there is no problem driving without plates and just show the insurance policy if stopped and advised against red plates.

From observation its clear that quite frequently `vehicles without plates are on the road.

But does anyone know written/unwritten rules about this?

unless there is a sign saying

"turn left waiting light"  or some such other interpretation of the English language

It was a perfect money maker for years in Pattaya 2nd rd left to Central (down to beach).

Left turn on red was forbidden, sign in Thai language only. When cops were in the mood they could milk the tourists on scooter with no effort.

Some kill joy has then installed a sign in English as you describe.

My understanding is that a left turn on red is only allowed if there is a sign allowing it. So, in the absence of a sign one must stop.

    No. Other way round.

There are signs explicitly forbidding left turn on red light.

AND: of course you still have to stop and make sure there is no traffic.

99% ignored by Thai motorcyclist. Can turn always, anytime without even turning your head.
