  1. In all likelyhood not. A 1 year old child cannot confirm you are the fahter, as their speech and intellect has not developed enough.

As said, there are some cases where a minor under 7 years old was accepted to make a statement, but they were at least 3 or 4 years old. (The law doesn't give an age, it only says that the child must agree/confirm that you are the fahter. The general norm set by amphurs seems to be 7 years).

Mario, we got the Amphur document with our daughter being 5 year old and just having to answer a few questions like 'What's your Daddy's name'

  2. That makes sense now. Many Thanks.

Will report how Hua Hin Immigration deals with my application.

Ok application failed, as with the proof of custody of child to get O visa in many consulates. This rule seems to have been taken up by immigration to obtain extension of stay to support your son/daughter they are asking for a legal custody document after phoning Bangkok.

  3. A parent is aparent. And all the Thai government is asking is to proof that you are indeed the father.

They are asking you to get legal custody! What rights does the mother then have, crazy!

Making it as difficult as possible. I went one step further and went to the Amphur and got another document that say's I'm the father. point 2 from your thread Mario: http://www.thaivisa....er/page__st__50. Pictures of the 3 of us on this document now I've got it. A visit to embassy to get passport verified, visit to Ministry Of Foreigh Affairs to get passport translation verified. So now I have Birth Cedrtificate and the other document, this took a lot of work to get.

Applied to Immigration to get extension of visa to support my daughter and told cannot, now need to goto court and get legal custody of my daughter as these two documents not enough, arghhhhhh.

Legal custody to get O visa and Legal custody to get extension of stay. It's a bloody disgrace!

  4. how embarassing for the thai gov;t , ....seems the same the world over though ,......... governments are looking to the rich to make donations , its crazy , why does anyone need 9000000000000000000000000000000000000 dollars ?, capitalism gone mad , soooooooo many greedy b**tards out there watching their fellow humans living hand to mouth , struggling to get an education ,.............99% of wealth is owned by 1% ,................<deleted> !! sad ................... VIVE LA REVELUTION !!.....

    Sorry,...........nearly started a coup then clap2.gif

Is this a guarantee or terms and conditions? Try and get the print smaller please!

  5. 1. I need to get my passport verified at the British Embassy (1500 baht) and then get this English verification stamped at the MFA.

    2. I also need a translation of my passport photo page in Thai and then get this translation stamped at the MFA

    Questions:

Is there time to get this done is a single day, looks like it's best to go to the Embassy Friday to reduce collection time. Any clues?

UK Consular office hours (local time)

    Monday-Thursday: 08:00-11:00 Friday: 08:00-11:00

    Collections only

    Monday-Thursday: 14:00-15:00 - Friday: 11:00-12:00

Cannot find the opening times for the MFA is the below address correct?

Department of Consular Affairs 123 Chaengwattana Rd., Tungsonghong Laksi Bangkok 10212 Tel.(662) 981-7171

I need two copies of both documents for different reasons.

Yellow book at Tessabahn wants a set and the Ampur wants a set for proof of fatherhood.

Can I photo copy a set do you think?

    Any advice much appreciated.

  6. Quote from the ACS at the US Embassy regarding freedom to marriage document:

"There isn’t a time limit on the affidavit, however, we have found that the Thai MFA and sometimes the Amphur Office will hesitate to take an affidavit that is more than 30 days old."

Thanks for all your replies. I think that 30 days sounds logical from the buracratic nature of the paper work freaks.

Yes I did mean once I have the AFM document from the MFA how long can I have it in my possession before I present it to the Ampur who will then allow me to marry there and then.

    Thanks All

  7. If you do not qualify financially for retirement not much they can say however.

The police order is 777/2551 and Google will easily find.

    Thanks, found the police order.

Not sure what you mean about 'not qualify financially'

Hua HIn immigration want you to go the retirement route 800K and persist in pushing you this way, I could do this at a push but don't want to. I would like to pursue the 400K route which I have in my account for over 3 months now.

  8. You get with a TM.7 filed at the immigration office serving the location you live just as any other extension of stay.

    Many Thanks Lopburi.

Do you have a link from Thai immigration outlining the rules (Would like to print and show my partner and immigration). The immigration in Hua Hin I've heard do not like to do this as they have to prepare the documents and send them to Bangkok I have been told, same as Marriage 400K extension and want you to go the retirement route.

  9. My children had British passports issued (Dec '08 and April '11) on the strength of the original Thai birth certificate supported by a professional translation, which had not been 'legalised' by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in either case.

Both applications were made in person at the British Embassy in Bangkok, although everything will be sent to the British Consulate General in Hong Kong who are responsible for issuing passports in the region.

I didn't produce my wife's Thai birth certificate, but you will need to show the mother's passport (neither she nor the child need to be present).

You will need the full version of your British birth certificate, original Thai marriage certificate supported by a translation, your passport and, of course the fee (something in the region of THB 5000), which can be paid by debit card.

The documents will be copied at the embassy and returned to you immediately, the passport should arrive 3-4 weeks later.

    Good luck!

    Edit: layout

You do not need a marriage certificate if your not married!

  10. Having recently obtained a yellow Tabien Bahn, I give my experience below.

My status is: unmarried, living in a house with a Thai partner. The land was bought 8 years ago, and the house subsequently built on this land. I have lived in this house, as a retiree, with my partner since then.

As previously stated, every Amphur office will have different requirements of what documents to produce etc. From reading previous posts, I got off lightly. My office only required a 'Letter of Residence' from the British Consulate, with official Thai translation of this letter only. Also: copies of my passport photo page and visa page; copies of my partners blue T.B. and ID card. A date was fixed for us to attend the office, bringing with us two Thai's from the Village as witnesses. The paperwork was completed during our visit. I wrote, in English, my Mother and Fathers names and education detais for them, they translated these details for the T.B. As no English was spoken in this office, a few questions were asked me via my partner, and all was finished within an hour.

One month later I collected my T.B. at no cost.

I have just hit the wall of songkhran, but here in Bang Phli, the documents they asked for are:

translation of passport (main details page only) certified at Brit embassy and translation certified at MOFA

letter providing details of myself and parents certified at brit embassy and translation certified at MOFA

(Incidentally did both these documents at brit embassy and they were very helpful, I showed them the requirements (in Thai) and the lady walked me through what I needed to show and then helped me fill in the form letter that they supplied, waited for 45 mins and recieved the docs).

copy of wifes ID and Tabien Baan,

    2 photo's.

that was all, so hope to get the thai translations certifed back on the 19th this month, and then stop in at Bang Phli amphur, they said sign two documents and done.

I will update when I receive it.

    regards

    seismic

Any Ideas on the British Embassy Charges?

Where do you get the translation done?

Do you then have to goto the MOFA (is that in Laksi where Thais get there passports?) and get these certified?

Can this be achieved in 1 day running around BKK?
