Air India captain tests positive for cannabis after Phuket-Delhi injuries

If you are a non-smoker because of your occupation how much time spent in a passive situation in a room full of weed smoke does it take before it would register on your virgin body?

There is an anecdote that circulated at a local running group. An Aussie guy took his backpack to an after run party and upon return to Aussie the drug dog was almost humping his backpack.

So contact with secondhand smoke can have an effect.

So now we think this pilot spends his spare time hanging around in pot houses!

I would never fly in a aircraft with a Indian pilot.

They don't exactly have a good track record.

Ok, so every time you book a flight, then you specifically ask if an Indian pilot is going to fly that route. Very original.

This after the Malaysian guy was arrested with drugs. So men are getting high on drugs and not taken their jobs seriously whilst women go on tik tok and fornicate at will. We are so screwed.

I don't travel that much nowadays and this article is not encouraging to me to pack my bags. I prefer that the captain of my flight not take recreational drugs before or during the flight. Just saying.

Slightly off topic, but a few years ago I was in Germany, near Dreden, on a training course. I returned to Thailand via Edinburgh, stopping off for a visit to the old country. At Edinburgh Airport security I was pulled aside, questioned and searched..... nothing was found. I asked, Why had I been pulled?

The answer was, they had detected traces of RDX, a ppwerful explosive, on my ruckack.

That rucksack was bought new in Dresden, and that flight was it's first use!

In fact, I had handled RDX the week before, on the training course, which involved disarming and replacing the rocket on ballistic parachutes for aircraft... and RDX is the rocket fuel! The traces must have remained on my hands for a week before purchasing the rucksack! These sniffers are sensitive!

That is a question for the medical experts and regulatory bodies. This is above my pay scale. Medical experts and regulatory bodies would proviide a more informed response.

Pilots are not allowed to have narcotics in their systems, are not allowed to consume alcohol within eight hours before flying or 0.04 alcohol concentration in their system. Though some mood stabilizers are allowed and am personally strictly opposed to it and would never knowingly climb in a cockpit with one on them.

For Air Transport Pilots, it's 24 hours. The "Eight hours bottle to throttle" is for Private Pilots. Small planes are much slower and easier to fly.

Eight hours actually, unless something has changed recently. Though the FAA “recommends” 24hrs. Some airlines are stricter with 12 or whatever and can’t speak for airlines based in Asian countries.

That is such a quantum leap. It's even funny.... I thought it was a reasonable question for those of us who could find themselves in that situation. I mean haven't you been to a party and walked into one of the rooms and had that delicious taste and smell of Gunja Fill your lungs and wonder, would I pass a drug test now?

I must've led such a sheltered life even though my paper route was in a bad neighbourhood. I don't see the correlation of the two things you're trying to compare.

Surely it's obvious, men are following sensual pleasures, disregarding their job duties, and women are on tik tok and following sensual pleasures by cheating on their men, disregarding their duties.

There is a global failure of duty fulfillment.

By all reports, Air India is a bit sketchy in general anyhow... would give it a miss myself.

May I ask why?

I have flown with Air India on return flights between Bangkok and London LHR which were excellent and reasonably priced. Outward BKK to New Delhi then London, return LHR to Bombay and then BKK. No problems and enjoyable flights. I like curries so I had a good choice of inflight meals. Incidentally, the pilot of the flight from BKK to New Delhi was an Indian female.
