Another death confirmed after Nonthaburi school shooting

A girl has died from a gunshot wound to the head following the violence at a Nonthaburi School, taking the reported death toll to nine. Nonthaburi's public health emergency operations centre said on 8 August 2026.

The girl, identified by the school as Napat Chai Ma, was shot in the head and was in a critical condition while undergoing treatment. Her relatives did not wish for cardiopulmonary resuscitation to be continued, according to Phra Nang Klao Hospital.

The case follows the attack on 7 August, when a 14-year-old male student at the Nonthaburi School shot dead his grandfather and grandmother at their home before travelling to the school and carrying out further violence.

Latest casualty and hospital updates

The emergency operations centre said there were 28 people injured, with 10 in critical condition, five moderately injured and 13 sustaining minor injuries. Twelve injured people have been able to return home.

Phra Nang Klao Hospital also reported that two male patients were now considered in a safe condition. One had been shot in the shoulder and underwent surgery to remove a bullet, while the other was shot in the shoulder blade and suffered bleeding in the chest cavity. Doctors inserted a drainage tube and said his condition had improved.

Kasemrad International Hospital reported two injured people: one teacher who remained in intensive care but was said to be safe, and a male student shot in the foot whose condition.

The hospital-by-hospital breakdown released by officials listed three injured patients at Phramongkutklao Hospital, including two critical cases and one minor injury; two at Siriraj Hospital, one critical and one moderate; and one critical patient at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Kasemrad International was listed as treating two patients, one critical and one moderate. Thonburi 2 Hospital had one moderately injured patient, while Bang Kruai Hospital had two patients, one moderate and one minor.

So it could still get worse. Poor kid. Do we know if all these teachers and students were targetted by the shooter or he just shot anyone in sight? Or are the police not saying yet?
