Police have detained a British man and seized four Buriram United shirts and sportswear items after an online retailer raised concerns that goods returned by a customer may not have been the same products originally dispatched.
The search took place on 16 September at a resort in Krasang subdistrict, Muang district, Buriram. Police stressed that their investigation remains ongoing and that no finding has been made on whether the seized goods are linked to any wrongdoing.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Warayut Chan-yiam, chief of Buriram Provincial Police, led officers from the provincial investigation unit and Muang Buriram Police Station in the operation.
The officers acted under a search warrant issued by Buriram Provincial Court on 15 September.
Return package raised company concerns
The investigation followed a complaint by Mega Castle Co Ltd, which told police that a British customer had ordered four Buriram United football shirts and other sportswear through its online service.

The customer later asked to return the items, stating that they did not fit and that he wished to order another size. The company accepted the return under its normal procedures.
After the return package arrived, however, the company became suspicious that the goods inside might not be those it had originally sent and were possibly fake counterfeit shirts. It then asked police to investigate the matter.
During the search of the resort room, officers found a British man who identified himself as staying there. Four Buriram United shirts and sportswear items were taken for examination and possible use as evidence.
The items were transferred to Muang Buriram Police Station while investigators assess the available evidence and follow legal procedures.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Warayut urged both buyers and online businesses to retain purchase records, receipts and delivery details. He also advised sellers to record product information and distinctive markings before dispatch, and again when returned goods are received.
