Its driver, 37-year-old Theem Son-am, was waiting to speak with police. He said he had been travelling towards Laem Chabang port in the right-hand lane and was preparing to make a U-turn when the car approached at speed and struck the rear of his vehicle.
He said the force of the collision caused the trailer to spin. Theem also told officers that the area was very dark, with almost no lighting.
Police to review CCTV footage
Bang Lamung police documented the scene and will examine CCTV cameras near the crash site to establish the cause and ensure fairness to all parties.
No conclusion on responsibility has yet been announced.
