I have been in Thailand for nearly a month, I am from South Africa and entered the country strictly on my passport, no actual visa.

 

I am wanting to extend my visa/passport, I know the cost is 1,900 baht, my question is, how long is the extension valid? Am I right in thinking it is 30 days for South Africans.

You can get a 30 day extension of your 30 day visa exempt entry at an immigration office.

Thank you, that was my thought.

I came across a blog stating that if you entered on a 30 day visa, you could only extend your stay for 7 days, which I assumed was incorrect.

Yep. 30 days.

An outdated information.

30 days as written above.

 

The 7 days still exist as an "emergency grace period" for leaving the country under certain circumstances.
