Hi all,

In May I will marry my beautiful Thai girlfriend. can I live in

Thailand ? I have thought about renting a restaurant and

letting her run it while I relax for the rest of my life. I will

not have a large ammount of funds but I will spend maybe

1 million baht on the restaurant would I make enough to

have a lazy life. I will inherit 10 odd million at some stage

in the future so I am not putting all my eggs in 1 basket.

I know you have to have some money coming in.

Whatever you decide to do, NEVER tell her that you will inherit 10 million baht. Also, ground-floor condos are most suitable for people in your position

Unless she has experience or a good cook I would suspect it very unlikely she will make a profit as restaurants don't last long without a very good cook (if small) and good cook plus management if larger.

The requirement to live in Thailand on annual visa extensions of stay is family income of 40,000 baht per month proven by tax receipts.

Without that the best you could obtain is 90 day visits - leaving every 90 day for either a new visa or a new entry on a multi entry visa if you manage to obtain that type.
